Official inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler thread. September 29, 2012

By the end week I will be registering for this race.. I am super excited. This will prepare me for the Disney Princess ½ marathon 2013. I am really hype about it:banana::cheer2:

WalkingintheFog--the only thing I priced out was a 7 day park hopper. It was something like $262 and change I think. I didn't buy them yet because we aren't sure how many days we are staying.

Does anyone know if the park ticket prices will stay the same until time for the race or are they like the race and they go up depending on when you buy them?

I signed up today at about 12:20 est. I did the Wine and Dine half last year so I knew that they had discount tickets but I wasnt aware of the discount on the rooms. I am a Passholder and I got a really good code that worked out great last Oct. We will be doing a package this year though to get the dining plan, I wonder how much cheaper it will be with the race discount we will be staying at the value resort.

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: YIKES!!!

I just registered. This is my first ever race. Lets hope I can do this and keep up.

Dh is going with me, but will be a spectator. At least I will have support, but I am still hesitant if I can really do it. :confused3

At the end of the day, it is about the experience. Glad I will be doing it!! :thumbsup2

Registered!! WOO HOO!!

As for costume, i was thinking just running in my Tink costume again, since the pirates don't like her. I'm sure Captain Hook will be a villian at the race. otherwise......maybe one of the evil stepsisters?? I wouldn't want to do Ursula or Maleficent or Evil Queen.

Just registered! Will be my first race over a 5K.

Would like to connect with some other runners as we all prep for this race!

Mine too! I'm pretty nervous, but worst case, I run the first bunch of miles then walk the rest... I keep telling myself I have 7 months to prepare, but eek! I think it's going to more of a mental block for me than anything else.

I registered this morning as soon as it opened up! I registered myself, three daughters and a son. It will be super fun!

If they keep things they way they've done in the past, the park ticket prices will stay the same. You should be able to buy them anytime up to a few weeks before the race.

I'm definitely doing the race, but just waiting a bit to register.

Um.......all the good villains are women. Translating them into a costume suitable for running may be difficult, but at least you have something good to start with.

Time for me to flip through my Disney Villains book to see what I can pull for a Boy Baddie.

Don't forget about Chernabog, arguably the most evil of them all.

The tickets that are a discounted event price are most likely going to remain the same price; however, the standard gate ticket price is most surely going to increase. I believe it is usually in August that they hike up the price. Last year they pulled a quickie and hiked them up earlier in the year. So you would be saving even more money with the discounted tickets.

I figured since I'm a little on the tubby side I'd go with either Ursula or the Queen of Hearts, and am giving the slight edge to Ursula (unless of course my boyfriend wants to wear 'matching' costumes). I figure a black tank top and purple tutu would be a good idea, then just add some long black pieces of fabric as 'tentacles' to go over the tutu. The one thing that WILL suck is doing a wig.

Don't be scared...you can do it!!! I understand how you feel though--I felt the same after I registered for the Princess 1/2 for the first time. But, if you find a good training plan and stick to it, you can definitely do it!!

Good luck!!:thumbsup2

I already have a 4 day non-hopper pass so I only need a room at Disney. I already have 3 nights booked at AS Movies, but does anyone know if the race discounts can be had for room-only reservations or just package reservations? If the discounts apply to room-only reservations I'll definitely be giving WDW reservations a call!

The wording is vague in my opinion. It might be worth a call to 407-WDW-IRUN to ask what their "resort package" entails. They might be able to do room only bookings. Worst thing they can say is no. (Best thing would be yes and saving you some money!)

I called the IRUN number yesterday and booked a room-only "package." Even though I only needed a room, the rates are still considered to be part of a package. The person I spoke to indicated that because I didn't need park tickets, I would instead be getting a voucher for a free round of mini-golf. :goodvibes

I'm full of questions, as this is my first Disney race. Does anyone know when they will give any hint as to what the 5k theme is? I'm contemplating doing it, but running around WWoS does not sound nearly as enticing as running around one of the parks. If the theme is interesting, I could be persuaded though.
