Official inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler thread. September 29, 2012

I was hoping to do the half Jan. 2013 but have to postpone trip until September 2013. Will this be an annual race? Do you think it will continue on last Saturday in September? Thanks.

I am probably in for this. I just decided that yesterday but I'm pretty darn sure I will. Almost booked the ticket last night but decided I had through March to really decide and may as well get through the Princess 1/2 first. Sept. is my birthday so that can be my gift :lovestruc

I haven't had a chance to read this entire thread yet but anyone know how the villains party works in terms of pricing for children? Are they the same cost as adults? I think for AP holders, this sounds pricey and I'm not sure if it'll be worth it for my family to buy hard tickets for that :confused3

All depends on if Disney sees this as a successful race. If it boosts whatever numbers to whatever levels they have predetermined, then most likely it will return.

If they plan on keeping the Halloween theme, I think it may be difficult to schedule the race too much earlier.

Pretty psyched! I started running in October and ran 10 miles outside today, my longest outdoor run so far, in 1 hour 35 min. Can't wait to see what I can do by September!!

Do hotel/ticket discounts have to be booked at the same time as registration, or can you go back and book those later? I am about ready to pull the trigger on the race itself, but not yet sure how long our stay will be.

The hotel can be added later for sure. I am pretty certain the same can be said for the tickets as well.

Hotel and tickets can be booked separately. The registration goes through active.com, and the hotel and tickets are booked through various divisions of Disney.

I just called to order the family tickets I need for the after party and I learned that they don't go on sale for family members until early April.

Called the Run Disney folks and got some more information.

If you are booking a hotel package the deposit is $200, regardless of what hotel you prefer. The balance is due 45 days prior to check-in. If you cancel between 44 days and 6 days prior to check in there is a $100 fee. If you cancel less than 6 days prior to check in there is a $200 fee.

You can not book the hotel package until you have registered for the race, so if you call the 407-WDW-IRUN folks you can register has part of your hotel package. That means that if you purchase travel insurance ($70 per adult) you can receive a refund of your race registration. Otherwise race registration is completely nonrefundable and nontransferable.

For this race and Expedition Everest they're trying something new and discounting the Disney Dining plans at a discounted rate. Quick Dining (2 quick meals and a snack) is $38 per night per adult. Disney Dining (1 snack, 1 table service meal, 2 quick meals) is $52. Park tickets are also 'deeply discounted' at 50% although I didn't get exact amounts.

If you have a Disney Rewards card you can use Rewards dollars to book the hotel package, including registration. Your card must have at least $290 on it at the time you call.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the information. Although the dining plan cost you listed doesn't sound discounted at all. :confused3

I would agree. It seems as though there is actually a significant up-charge on the counter service dining plan and a nominal one on the standard dining plan.

As per the info from this site:

Quick Service Dining Plan
Adults: $34.99 | Children: $11.99

Basic Dining Plan
Adults: $51.54 (regular season) | $53.54 (peak season*)
Children: $15.02 (regular season) | $16.02 (peak season*)

*Peak Seasons: 2/16/12 - 2/25/12, 3/09/12 - 4/14/12, 6/1/12 - 8/4/12, 12/21/12 - 12/31/12

Do you think discounted park tickets can be bought separate from a room reservation, so long as you show ToT registration? I am already holding a room reservation at a great rate.
And can discounted tickets be bought for all members of our party, not just the runners?

I can't register until getting some other details hammered out, but I want to start planning!

Yes, you can buy the discounted tickets w/o a room ressie. Friend of ours stayed with us in Jan (we're DVC/AP) and she was able to get the discount with no room ressie in her name.

I *think* you can buy the tickets for everyone in your party as well. Hopefully someone can confirm that.

We were able to buy the discounted "sports" tickets for our whole party for the January Marathon weekend, it was not a problem. We did it last year too.
