Official Hurricane Frances Thread - Part II

I can feel the panic in this thread. Is there anything those of us NOT involved can do today? Would a box of supplies reach you after the storm from UPS? I could go to Target and pick up things and mail them right now, if that would help someone.

After the storm, if you need anything and can find a place to post I will be happy to help. Try to stay calm and keep a clear head so that all of you will be safe. I will be thinking and praying for each of you!

Thank you all so much for keeping us posted on what is happening in your area, I can't imagine what you're going through but i can keep you in my thoughts and prayers over the weekend , i wish i could do more, and if anyone does happen to have plane tickets to the uk and need to get away you're more than welcome here. to reiterate what dizcrazymom said if there is anything we can do to make things easier for you, please just let us know.
God bless and stay safe

That's a very kind & thoughtful offer. I think we all have to wait everything out & see what happens, but we appreciate everyone's best wishes & prayers. Thank you.

Double post. Sorry, my computer has been acting funky since yesterday & all posts (usually) take two tries.

I bet there is room on the Wonder leaving today for anyone looking for a good place to evacuate. I had to cancel my reservation and there are probably many others who did too. Sounds like a fun , safe place to be right now - Good luck to all of you in Fla. - stay SAFE!!!!

Oct 9 Western is sounding better and better by the hour...

Disney Cruise Line® –
Important Information
September 2, 2004 12:53:59 PM

Currently, we are monitoring Hurricane Frances very closely. At this time, it is probable that the storm will impact air travel into the Central Florida area through Sunday. Given this information, we have decided to modify the Disney Magic sailing scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 4th and the Disney Wonder sailing scheduled to depart on September 5th.

The Disney Magic will now sail on Monday, September 6th on a 5-night voyage and the Disney Wonder will also sail on Monday, September 6th on a 3-night voyage. Both ships are scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral.

Guests sailing on one of these voyages are currently being contacted by our Reservations staff.

Does anyone know wath is going on with the 7 day cruise that is out at sea right now??? How about the 3 day.
I just hope that everyone stays safe.

Both ship will have an extended cruise.....they will both be back on Monday into Port Canaveral.

They will most likely just have 2 more sea days on Sat and Sun. Or, maybe they will do a "look see" at CC on Sunday to see how bad it was damaged.

Does anyone have an updated itinerary for the new "5-day" cruise? I have been calling Debbie, but she is "not available."

I now am going to have a full house this weekend. It looks like my mom's cousins are coming from Jupiter with their daughter and her friend and daughter and my friends are coming from Orlando with their baby and dog. I don't have the confirmed amount of people, but all I can say is I hope it doesn't come here or I'm in big trouble! I'm busy cooking up a storm so that the food is all cooked in case we lose power again. I've got all my supplies back in but couldn't find any plywood or a generator to save my life.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying for all of you on the east coast.
Thanks for everyone's good wishes and support. After this I just need a good stiff drink!

If Disney cuts days off our vacation time, are they planning on reimbursing us for the lost day(s)? The $300.00 onboard credit isn't cutting it as makeup for the lost day.

"Just off the phone with DCL.

5 night itinerary will be a combo of the WEstern Ports. They are playing it by ear at this point.
(don't know the compensation for this one)

3 night will be a cruise to nowhere. Pax will get a 30% refund of cruise fare paid, $100 shipboard credit and 25% coupon for future cruise.

The other options are reschedule for no fee or full refund."

Hope this helps!

I have to say I'm a little puzzled by people who have posted and are already gribing about the arrangement Disney has made, even before finding out just what they are. I know how dissapointed I would be to have my long planned and anticipated trip messed up, but can you tell me what choice DCL has? Even if they could dock in Florida on Saturday, nobody is going to be able to fly in or out of the state.

I'm sure Disney will continue to go above and beyond what is called for in their contracts. I also would think those with trip insurance might get something back from that as well for trip interuption.

This is a messy situation for everyone traveling on all of the cruise lines, but ultimately it could be life and death for those in the path of this storm. Since we are sailing in a few weeks, we share everyones concern for their trips, but we're mored conerned for the folks bracing for this. So everyone take a deep breath, take one step at a time and realize all of the companies are doing the best they can with a massive problem.l

30% refund for PAX??? What is PAX??

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

Were the refund options only for the 3-night "cruise to nowhere" or does it apply to both cruises? We're booked on the 7 - er, 5-night cruise.

dee30baby-

We are in Sarasota also. Waiting to see if school will be cancelled tomorrow. I think it would be fair to reimburse passengers for the actual cost of the missed nights onboard. I suppose anything beyond that is pure goodwill.

allears-

I wasn't gripping at Disney. I understand they can't control the weather and they can't make everyone happy. They are trying to keep everyone safe and still keep us cruising. I just wouldn't normally choose to cruise for less than seven nights so I am disappointed and I know my kids will be disappointed.
