Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

What transportation and what time will we need to leave to get to Beach Club from HS for 5:30 ADR at Cape May.
You have two choices...
1. Boat.....could take up to 45 mins. The actual boat ride is about 15-20 mins. If the boat isn't at the dock, or heading to the dock, you could wait up to 20 mins. The boat will stop at the S/D, then YC/BC.

2. Walk. This will take about 20 mins. Leave the park....with the canal/boat dock on your left, parking lot to the right. Go around the end of the canal area, staying on the sidewalk. Keep walking and you will see signage to Boardwalk, to the left. Go down the slope and you're on your way. Walk to the end of the walkway, Boardwalk will be right on your right. Go left up the rise, out of the Boardwalk area, and turn right. Over the bridge and down the to YC. I usually walk all the way to BC on the boardwalk area, but you can cut thru the YC. I would plan on leaving DHS by 4:30 ether way. That way you can take your time and check stuff out.

We are planning one of our days and I'm wondering if it makes more sense to take Disney transport, than our rental car on this particular day. We are staying at CBR and want to do rope drop for DHS and then head over to Epcot for a 5:25pm ADR at Le Cellier. My initial plans had us driving, leaving DHS at 3, arriving at Epcot gates at 4 and then we'd do a couple rides (without FP) in FW on our way to WS (specifically Spaceship Earth and Mission Space). But I'm wondering if it would actually make more sense time-wise to take the boat from DHS to Epcot and just do the bus to and from the parks.

As a general rule, is it usually faster to have your own car or do Disney transport, when you are staying at a bus-only resort?

You can walk or take the boat from DHS to the International Gateway at Epcot. That will be much quicker than getting to your car and driving to the front entrance, plus Le Cellier is right next to the International Gateway entrance.

Sorry if this has been asked/answered already. With the current bus routes how can I get to DTD from TL?
  • Until 11 or 11:30am, almost all buses leaving TL go to DTD next. If the marquee does not say DTD, ask the driver.
  • After 11:30am until 2pm, take the bus to Saratoga Springs Resort. After circling thru the SSR (about 10 minutes), the bus will continue to DTD.
  • After 2pm, take the shuttle bus to Epcot. At Epcot, transfer to the bus to SSR. Get off at Congress Park station at SSR (the 4th stop.) From there, DTD Marketplace is a 5-10 minute walk, or you can wait for a DTD bus.

If that seems too complicated, a cab would be less than $10.

Question about the boats that go back and forth between MK and MK resorts - in particular I was wondering how long it would take to go from MK to WL and/or FW. And how early and late the boats run.

We're arriving in WDW on May 24th around noon or so, and we have a BBB appointment (DTD location) for my daughter at 3:30pm. I've heard the boats run every 20 minutes, and then take about 20 minutes to get there? How long do the buses take? Should we even TRY driving since I heard parking is a mess? And then we need to get over to Epcot preferably as soon as we can afterwards so we have some time in the World Showcase before our dinner at Akershus. What's the quickest way to do that?

Good morning all! I did a search of the DIS and haven't found my answer yet - then again I never seem to find what I'm looking for with the search option so maybe that's user error!

Is Uber an option at WDW? I've seen several suggestions for using cabs for some plans but I've never really noticed cabs at WDW either, but am assuming from posts that those are always readily available without much wait?

There are only boats to DTD from POFQ, POR, SSR and OKW. I would definitely avoid driving there while construction is going on. The quickest way to Epcot would be bus to BC then enter through the International Gateway.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention we'll be at POR. So then would a boat or bus be quicker?

What is the quickest way from Poly to MK and what time should we leave to be at MK for 7am EMH?
It's a toss up. The boat goes directly to MK after leaving the Polynesian and takes about 15 mins. The monorail takes about the same time, maybe a bit less. But you have to figure in wait times as well. I would be out, ready at either one, by 6:20.

The boats run, to the best of my knowledge, about an hour prior to and after park opening/closing. It takes about 20 mins to get to FtW, a bit less to WL. But that doesn't include wait times.

That's a lot to do right after arrival! The boats do run about that often. And yes, it takes about 20 mins. The buses take a bit less time, but again, that doesn't include wait times. You could try driving. That's a Sunday, mid-afternoon...it shouldn't be too bad to park. And it's quicker to drive. As far as the quickest way to Epcot, I can't tell you. I can see it in my head, but I can't get it out into print!!

Many have used Uber at WDW. Shouldn't be an issue.

Yep, there are buses from those resorts to and from DTD. I've taken them! Even from SSR!!!
And you're absolutely right...bus to BC, then walk over to Epcot and enter via the International Gateway!

I meant that those are the only resorts that have boat service to DTD because EmilyS90 didn't indicate where she was traveling from, not that boats are the only options.

For the 7am EMH, the Resort Monorail will be opening at 6:30. I could be wrong, but I don't think the boats run for morning EMH, so the monorail would be your only option. Might as well be there at 6:30 for the opening. There won't be a full Welcome Show that morning, so no need to be there extra early.

The boats from MK-WL or MK-Ft Wilderness don't take 20 minutes if they're not sharing. The trip's closer to 10 minutes.

We have an 8:30 pm dinner at Boma and will need to get back to Boardwalk after. Will we have to take a bus to DHS or Epcot and get back from there or is there another way?

I'm pretty sure you'd have to use DTD as a transfer point, because I would assume that both Epcot and DHS would be closed by then. The only other option would be a taxi.

If either of those are open, then yes. But keep in mind that if you transfer at Epcot you will need to walk through the park, which does require a ticket. Allow 60+ minutes.

If MK is still open, you can transfer there. Allow 70+ minutes.

If all of the parks are closed, you'll need to transfer at DTD. Allow 90+ minutes.

Or you can pay about $20 for a taxi and be there in 10-15 minutes.

I was thinking about the possibility of going from Epcot one night after Illuminations to Hollywood because they will be having EMHs until 12AM. If I want to watch Illuminations before heading out (hopefully in time to catch Fantasmic at 10:30), would it be quicker to stay toward the front of the park & take the bus to HS or stay around the UK & take the boat there?

TIA! :)
