Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Please tell me if I have this correct and is it "the best plan"?

From CBR to Cape May: catch bus to Epcot, then go to IG. Should we walk or ride the boat? How long for each? (we have hoppers)
On this day, we may be leaving from MK, so I guess we would just take the BC bus from MK, right?

and does the same plan work for Captain's Grille?
Is this area the Boardwalk? We've never been to the Boardwalk, so wasn't sure.

and:
How much time would you allow to get from HS to LeCellier for ADR? I guess using the bus is the best option?

TIA:flower3:

Yes, it could be a very long wait for the boat -- like several years!;)

Boats don't normally run from MK to CR; the options are walking or monorail.
Good catch. I usually take the boat from WL to the CR...hence my confusion. So, technically, you could take a boat from MK to CR...it would have to go to WL, then you would have to hop off and get in the line for the CR boat.
Sorry.

Well....the walk from the front of the park to the Intl Gateway is about 20 mins...depending on time of day. Then, about 8 mins to Cape May. I can't imagine that you mean the boats that run from FutureWorld over to various areas of WS...takes way too long. So, you most likely mean the boat from the IG to YC/BC. Don't take it. IT will stop at Boardwalk first, then go to YC/BC....it is much quicker to walk.
Or you can take the bus to DHS and then the boat to BC (or the S/D and then walk over to BC). The boat takes about 20 mins to YC/BC, or you can walk along the pathway...takes a bit less time than the boat.
If you're at MK, take the bus...much easier.

To get to LeCellier from DHS??? You can take the bus, but it will take you to the front of Epcot. You can take the boat from DHS to Epcot (IG) and then head over to LeCellier from there...quicker than the front of the park. Time to allow??? Figure on about an hour. It should take less than that, but it's so much better to be early vs worrying about being late.

The Epcot resorts (Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Beach Club) all circle the lake. As you walk out the IG, if you turn to the left and go over the bridge, you will come to BW. Keep walking, out of BW, you will come to the Swan and Dolphin..off to the left, over the bridge. Turn right, keep walking and you come to YC, then to BC, and then you're back where you started....just outside the IG.

This sounds like a good plan, thanks!

Is it quicker to take Disney transportation to get to and from resorts to parks or drive your own car?? We're driving in so that is an option.

Hi all,
I'm very confused :confused3 becuase I keep getting/finding conflicting info. Two questions. Staying at CR, I want to arrive at EP by 7:45 for an 8:00 a.m. Akershus ADR. How is the best awy to get there? Cab from CR? Or will the resort monorial to TTC and then EP monorail from there be running that early? Second question, I need to arrive at DHS by 8:15. Will buses from CR be running early enough to accomplish this? What time do I need to leave CR to arrive at DHS by 8:15? Thanks so much!:flower3:

The resort monorail will be running, but the Epcot monorail doesn't start until 8 a.m. I don't know whether breakfast buses run from the monorail resorts (or from MK) to Epcot. A cab might be safest.

As for DHS, yes, there will be buses running there for breakfast. You should be at the bus stop 1 hour before seating time.

Many feel that it's okay to drive to all the parks except for MK. When parking at MK, you have to take the tram to the main area, from your parking spot (unless you get an up front spot and then can just hoof it), then you have to take either the monorail or ferry over to MK..both can include a wait of up to 15 mins. So, taking the bus from your resort to MK is almost always quicker than driving.

The monorail starts at 7am, every morning. You should have no trouble hopping on the monorail to TTC at 7ish. Then, the Epcot line should be running since that is how those staying at the MK resorts get to Epcot for early ADRs!!! Shouldn't be an issue at all.

To get to DHS for 8:15 (assuming that's am, not pm), you should be out at the bus stop by 7:00ish. The buses start running at 6:30am, every morning. It's always a good idea to leave an hour to get from place to place...most likely won't take that long, but it's better to be early than to worry about being late. And with Akershus, you really should be at the front of Epcot by 7:45. It's going to take you about 15+ mins to walk back to Akershus...and you should be there, checking in at the podium a few mins before your ADR time.

Well then...how the heck does Disney think those staying in the MK resorts are going to get to early ADRs??? I thought the monorail would be up and running in plenty of time. 8am just makes no sense!! Guess a cab would be the best idea.

There's that conflicting information again!:scared1:

Officially, the Hub says the Epcot line starts up at 8 a.m., or 7:30 a.m. on EMH mornings. Anyone have recent personal experience riding it earlier?

Not really 'conflicting'....I just thought I had the info. Made an assumption...obviously we all know what happens when you assume!!!
I just think it's nutty that Disney doesn't have a way for those MK resort guests to get to Epcot for early ADRs. For the life of me, I can't remember how we did it when I've been at BLT or CR. But, then again, I seldom make really early ADRs...prefer to make breakfast ADRs around 10ish!!! On EMH mornings!!!

Does anyone know how Disney will be handling transportation during the daily monorail closures in March? Will there be extra buses running?

Yes, there are buses between the resorts, buses between the resorts & MK, and buses between TTC & MK. There is also increased watercraft service.

There are several threads discussing this on this board and on the Theme Parks board, if you want to read further.

Is it possible to use the resort monorail to get from the GF to the CR after the closing of MK?

We're staying at the BWI for the first time and I have a few questions:

1) do you arrive at IG whether you go by boat or walk from BWI?
2) Isn't the IG in WS which doesn't open until 11am?
3) I heard years ago that if you came in through IG, you had to walk to the front of Epcot to go through the turnstiles. Has this changed because I don't hear anyone complaining about it like they use to.

Thanks!

If the monorail is still operating, yes. But, the monorail only runs for about an hour after the park closes...unless Disney has, yet again, changed the operating hours.

1. I tend to walk...I think I've taken the boat over to the IG once in all my stays.

2. Yes, but you are allowed to enter at park opening.

3. I've been staying at BWV since '03...I have always been able to enter Epcot via the IG. There is no way to walk to the front of Epcot, from any resort, not even the Epcot resorts. Many times the people at the IG are allowed to enter before the park opens in order to put them on a level playing field with those guests entering via the front of the park. So, you can usually enter the WS area about 10 mins before park opening. You are then directed through WD, past England and Canada, and into Futureworld by CMs.

Do any resort buses go to the TTC?

How can I get to the TTC from Port Orleans Riverside?

We have no car....

Nope, no resort buses go there...at least not WDW owned resorts. This is the lot that offsite shuttle buses head to.
So...you can either take a cab, or take a bus to MK and then ferry or monorail over to the TTC.

Thanks Just to be clear, the resort monorail then closes down an hour after MK closes. So how would one get from the GF to the CR for a drink later at night? Say the MK closes at 7PM for a hard party event and I would like to go to the CR at 9PM?

If it's a party like MNSSHP or MVMCP then the monorail usually continues service. They were supposed to close this past fall during MNSSHP while we were there. They were still running it at 11:30 though.

Now if the park is truely closed, you will need to take a taxi. Or, we had an experience back in '07...we were celebrating our 10th anniversary at California Grill and did not realize park close was 9pm. Long about 10:45 we went to leave for our resort (the Poly) only to find the monorail had stopped for the evening. When we went to the concierge downstairs to ask what to do, they suggested a taxi...then dude said "if you can wait 5 min, I'll be getting off and can drop you off on my way home." We thanked him sooo much & even offered cash for his trouble...but he wouldn't take it. I couldn't even call guest services and praise him. He thought it could get him in trouble. Awesome dude!

I was generalizing. Much safer to do that than for anyone to look quickly and think that the monorail would be up and running whenever they needed it.

As noted already, if there is a hard ticketed event, then the monorail will be operating.

Overall, the best thing to do?? Play it by ear. When you get to your destination, check with transportation people and see what your options are. What is 'doable' today, may very well not be doable next week.
