Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Need Help. We are going during spring break and i could only get a 8pm res for 1900 park fare. Is there any way I am going to be able to make it any of the night time shows? I have park hoppers. Main street elctrical is at 11pm, wishes is at 10pm. Or should I forget the shows and just head over to HS for EMH :confused3

Maybe? If it takes you an hour to eat, that gets you over to MK for 9:30ish. I would try to arrive at 1900 PF early...maybe get a shot at being seated a bit early.
Only you can decide if you want to spend the time getting over to MK or head to DHS. If it were me, I might just try for MK. If it gets to be 10pm, and you're still at the GF?? Who knows.

Nope, no resort buses go there...at least not WDW owned resorts. This is the lot that offsite shuttle buses head to.
So...you can either take a cab, or take a bus to MK and then ferry or monorail over to the TTC.

Thanks - that was what I was thinking... but I wanted to double check

Hi. Sorry to ask again, but I don't understand. How would one get from the CR to the GF (or any other WDW resort) two hours after the closing of MK? If MK closes at 7PM and I would like to get from the GF to the CR for a drink at 9PM, how do I get there (and get back) on WDW transportation? If I wanted to get to WL from GF two hours after the closing of MK are there boats? WOuld I take a boat from the GF to MK and then to the WL? What time to boats stop running now that the monorail is closing early?

I will be at Disney with a 2 & 6 year old Grandsons by my self. I would like to do Chef Micky. Which park would be the easiest to get from and how. The other option would be from the All Star resorts.

Thank You

Chef Mickey's is at the Contemporary Resort, which is an easy walk from the Magic Kingdom (or you could take the monorail).

With things the way are now, with the monorail, I would just wait until you to WDW and then figure it out. Any info you get now, may very well be not so good by the time you get there.

If you are at AK or DHS, just take the bus to the CR. If you're at Epcot, you'll have to take the monorail and then transfer to the resort monorail at TTC. If at MK?? Just walk over via the sidewalk.
If you're at a resort, take the bus to the MK.

Will be staying at Sarasota Springs starting March 25th. What is the most recommend way of travel from here. We have a plan of where we are going on what days of course but I am curious as to what you all out there recommend.

I am going to assume that you are not renting a car??? If this is the case, then the buses are going to be your best bet. Saratoga Springs is distant from all the parks, so it does take a bit longer to get to them vs from other resorts.
Now, going to resorts from SSR is a whole different thing. That involves transfers.

We are not renting a car, we will be driving down from CT. So we will have our own car. Just really didnt want to drive my own car around if, transportation is aval. I assume that once I check in getting a schedule or anything on how the transportation works shouldnt be an issue.

There's no schedule, but the transportation is fairly simple:

Buses run from the resort to each theme park starting around 6:30 each morning, until each park closes (including Extra Magic Hours, or EMH.) Buses run from each park back to the resort until every guest has left the park after it's closed. Buses generally run every 20 minutes, and usually more often around park opening & closing.

There are 5 bus stops in the SSR. Travel time between the resort and the parks will generally range between 10 & 25 minutes. Altogether, you should allow 1 hour to travel to a park, including wait time, stops within the resort, and actual travel time.

To travel from SSR to another resort, it's usually easiest to take the bus to the theme park nearest your destination, and then get transportation from that park. The exceptions are the Epcot area resorts: you would need to take a bus to DHS, not Epcot. You should allow 90 minutes to travel between resorts.

DTD is just across a lake from SSR. There is a walking path around the lake, and it can be as little as a 10 minute walk to DTD from some areas of the resort. There is also a boat to DTD that runs from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and a bus stopping at all 5 SSR stops that runs from about 8:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.

If you'll be visiting a water park, the DTD bus also stops at TL, and the AK bus stops at BB. They start serving the water parks about 1 hour before they open.

The Carriage House is the location of food, shopping, the feature pool, the spa, and the boat dock at SSR. It's within walking distance of pretty much the entire resort, or you can ride any theme park bus there. If it looks like the bus may be crowded, let the driver know you are going to another stop within the resort, or the stop may be skipped if the bus fills up. You can ride the DTD bus from the Carriage House to the other stops in the resort.

If you have specific questions about transportation while at the resort, you're best source of information is a transportation cast member, or phone (407) WDW-RIDE.

Thank you very much for the info, we(DH29, DW 27, DD(twins)5 and DGM 61) start our journey on Friday to head to MD and then heading out next Tuesday for FL, heading to Seaworld and such for a few days then our week in WDW at SSR. CAN NOT WAIT!!! havent been in almost 20yrs... Again thank you very much.

To get from AK to DTD, we need to take a bus to a resort and then to DTD, correct? I believe I read that buses don't go directly to/from parks to DTD. Would it be quickest to go to AKL and then to DTD or would another resort be closer?

Thanks! :goodvibes

That's correct.

I would transfer at Pop Century - It's more on the way and i think the bus service is faster there than AKL.

I will plan Chef Micky for after AK or DHS than. I talked to the DD about the walk and she didn't feel the little guy would make it. For sure if we did a lot of walking before.

What and where is the TTC?

The TTC is the Ticket and Transportation Center. This is the parking lot for MK. You can get the monorail to the MK resorts here, as well as the Express Monorail to MK and the Epcot monorail line. You will also find buses to, and from, DHS and AK here.
If you are staying onsite, you will take a bus directly to MK though. The TTC is where those who choose to drive to the MK will park and then access MK. Or shuttle buses from off-site resorts will drop their guests here as well.

Hi,

Is there an index for this thread? The search function isn't getting me what I need but I'm hoping that I don't need to read through all 80 pages of this thread, either, so maybe someone can help me? :)

How would I get from DTD to Boardwalk in the afternoon? Friendship Boat? Bus?

Thanks!

The only resorts that have boat access to DTD are POFQ, POR, OKW, and SSR, so your only option for Boardwalk would be a bus. And actually, the Friendship boats are the boats that go across the World Showcase lagoon.

Ah - you're right. I was thinking of the boats that go between DHS and Epcot, with stops at the Swan, Boardwalk, etc. Thanks!

Love your avatar pic by the way. :)
