Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

TandLMommy28-- I'm not familiar with WL transportation either, but when we stayed at POR, it did seem to take us longer than usual to get around, too. Maybe it's because it's a smaller resort so they dispatch fewer buses for POR than for some of the larger resorts? :confused3 I'm really not sure.
Having said that, to avoid being caught in a crush of people waiting for a bus or boat, it has helped our family to have an "exiting strategy". There's quite a bit of info out there about where to position yourself for parades and fireworks, Fantasmic, etc. so that you can make your exit ahead of the pack. Even if you take a midday break, certain hours of the day are recommended over others. It's made a world of difference for us. :wave2:

I've been a terrible procrastinator for our upcoming trip. 3 weeks out and I'm just now putting everything together. :guilty:

This is our second trip, and first time staying at CSR. How do we get to:

1. Animal Kingdom Lodge
2. Boardwalk
3. Beach Club Resort

Also, if we have 7:30AM reservations in those places, what time should be leave our room? Is an hour good enough?

1. Bus to AK, then Bus to AKL. You can ask the first bus driver if he can take you to AKL.
2 and 3. Bus to DHS, walk to Boardwalk or Beach Club. Ask the bus driver if he can take you to the Boardwalk or Beach Club.

With a 7:30 ADR, you should probably take a cab. If you really want to take the bus, you need to be waiting at the bus stop by 6:30 - you will absolutely have to be on the first bus.

How does the cab thing work? Do we call an outside company or is there a WDW cab company? Sorry if that's a silly question. :goodvibes

Would we save a lot of time in the morning if we called a cab?

If you are near the main lobby you could walk there and there should be cabs waiting there for fares. If you are not near the lobby call bell services and they can have one sent to your building location.
Yes you will save a great deal of time by using taxis, for the 3 locations you mention you're going to the taxi ride should be approx 10 minutes, fares should be around $15.

Here's the issue. Buses start running from resorts to parks around 6:30am. They run a bit less frequently than regular buses do, so figure on possibly waiting for 25 mins if you just miss the bus.
If you got on the first bus each morning, at 6:30ish.....
1. To AKL you might be able to get dropped off right there, if the driver says yes. But, no promises. Otherwise, you would have to wait for a bus to AKL from AK. You get on the AK bus at 6:30, 15 or so mins to AK then a wait of maybe 45 mins for a bus to AKL to come. It could come sooner but no way to know.

2. Bus to DHS, then walk to BWV...walk is about 15-18 mins. The bus to DHS could get you there for 7am, but no way to know...again.

3. Same situation as BWV...bus to DHS and then walk to BC. Normally there is a boat that stops at these two resorts, but they don't start running until about 60-90 mins prior to park opening.

Getting cabs is easy, just head over to the main bldg and have someone call a cab for you. That way, you have to figure on no more than 20 mins or so.

Is there a direct bus or do we have to transfer? If transfer, how about a bus from AK to Cont, then walk?

The bus goes to the TTC, where you would transfer to the monorail or ferryboat the rest of the way.

You can take the bus to the CR & walk about 10 minutes to the MK entrance.

As a fan of all 3 of the table service restaurants at the Contemporary, I know you'll have a great time & a full belly! If its less than an hour after the Magic Kingdom closes, you can walk there in about 10 minutes & take a bus to the All Star. If not, head down to the 1st floor of the tower building and out the front doors. There, Bell Services can get a cab for you...usually within a moment or two if one isn't already waiting. Have a great time & bon appétit!

I'll be doing The Wave and I'm so excited to try it! The food looks amazing!

MK closes at 9pm that day, so I doubt I'll be done before 10pm, as my ressie is for 9:15pm. I think I'll just do the cab, since it seems the DTD route would take too long for my liking. Thanks!

What time does MK close that night? If it closes at 10, they will run buses until at least 11:00 so you can just walk over there and get a bus. If not, you can transfer at DTD, but plan on it taking 90 minutes or so; I would rather take a cab than transfer at DTD.

MK closes at 9pm that night. I'll be arriving from EPCOT, and have no problem figuring out transportation there, but it's getting back to my hotel I was wondering about. I think the cab is the better option. Thanks.

Hi, Ive asked this question before, sorry:flower3:, but I just need alittle clarification.
Im such a ditz when it comes to how to get from here to there :lmao:

Anyway, we will be going to the Hoop Dee Doo revue for the 6:15pm show. MK closes at 7pm that day, so it will be closed when Hoop De Doo finishes. So do you think there will be buses to take the Hoop De Doo guests directly to the resorts, since MK will have closed at 7pm that night? If so,
where do you get the buses? Are they near Pioneer Hall where Hoop Dee Doo is?

OK, second question... from Poly to Beach Club? Going to Luau at 5:15pm. I can get there all right (taking monorail from Epcot), its just getting back to the Beach Club that Im not sure of.

And then theres Chef Mickeys. I will need to go from Beach Club to the Contemporary and then back to Beach Club after dinner.

I appreciate any help/advice you guys can give me. I am going to print out your answers and bring them with me.
Leaving Tuesday :thumbsup2

Thanks...again,

Karen :)

Point me in the right direction if this has been asked previously...

We are heading down in 3 weeks. We are staying at Kidani Villages DVC. We will have our car, except for the Magic Kingdom getting in the parks is an no brainer. My question is: with a double stroller what is the best way to get to the Magic Kingdom from Kidani?

Bus? TTC Monorail? TTC Ferry?

Any and all help would be great! Thanks!

Nevermind. Figured it out

1. I'm assuming that since MK is closing at 7, it's for MNSSHP or MVMCP, so buses will still be running between MK and the resorts until at least an hour after that ends, so that would still be an option. I'm positive though that they do provide bus service from HDD to the resorts after the second and third shows (definitely after the third show, it's the second show I'm not 100% sure about), and I would assume that the buses would leave from Pioneer Hall.

2. I would walk over to the TTC, take the monorail to MK, then a bus to BC. You could take the monorail to Epcot, but you would have to enter Epcot, which means you would have to have a valid ticket (park hopper if you were in a different park earlier in the day.) Plus that would be more walking.

3. Bus to MK, then walk to Contemporary. Reverse to go back.

Thank you siskaren, once again, for coming to my aid.
If I may, could I please ask you if any of the above walks are a far distance?
We will be with my 3 grandsons, ages 9,7 and 5 and will probably not be bringing a stroller to the above dinners.

TIA,
Karen :)

Just wanted to let you know I've printed out your answers above and will bring them with me on Tuesday.
Oh, and you were correct, MK is closing at 7pm on Friday, Sept 6th for Night of Joy. So it will be "open" for Night of Joy guests only. If MK is technically closed, except for those who have Night of Joy tks do you think the bus will still run to MK after the 1st (6:15pm)
HDD show lets out?
I know Im worrying about this way too much but it stinks not being sure of where to go, especially with 3 little boys in tow.

I'm not really as much of an expert as goofy4tink and some of the other posters on this board are; in fact, I get most of my information by reading this board. The walk from the MK to the Contemporary is only 10 minutes. I'm not sure about walking through Epcot, but just thinking about it it seems kind of long because of the fact that you have to walk all the way through Future World to get to the International Gateway, which is in World Showcase.

How would we get from MK to Downtown Disney? I can't remember if there's direct transportation or if we'd have to transfer.. Thanks! :goodvibes

Wendy
you could take the monorail over to any of the monorail resorts, but the Poly will be the shortest walk to the bus stop. plus you get to experience the beauty of the Poly as you pass through the lobby!

Editing because I did some more reading. :)

DH and DS want to go from POR to DQ. They want to go by boat. I've read more, and it seems they can take the POR boat which will land in the RFC area. They then take the red-flagged boats to the Cirque area OR just walk it. Later they take the boat back or walk back, meet me at the RFC area, and we'll have dinner. Then back on the POR boat or take a bus or taxi, depending on how late it is.

Does that sound right/current/OK?

Editing again to say that I have the above all worked out now. Just one other question....

Where does the boat at POR leave from?
