Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

15 more days until I leave! :woohoo:

I am trying to do all of my planning so I have a quick question.
I am staying at POP Century.
I am having dinner at Cali Grill one night at 9:00 p.m.
I figure I will be getting out of there around 11:00 or 11:30.
MK closes at 11:00 that night. I know the busses and monorails run for an hour after park closes FROM the park to the resorts.
BUT will the monorail be running FROM the Contemporary TO the MK at that hour so that I can get over there to catch a bus back to POP?

If not I don't mind taking a taxi, but I just like to know what my optins are in advance.

Thank you!

You can walk from the contemporary to MK.

Editing because I did some more reading. :)

DH and DS want to go from POR to DQ. They want to go by boat. I've read more, and it seems they can take the POR boat which will land in the RFC area. They then take the red-flagged boats to the Cirque area OR just walk it. Later they take the boat back or walk back, meet me at the RFC area, and we'll have dinner. Then back on the POR boat or take a bus or taxi, depending on how late it is.

Does that sound right/current/OK?
What you are saying is correct. Don't know when you are going but we are there right now and the boat system is weather dependent. We were coming back to our room by boat -they got a weather warning and stopped at French quarter-so in the pouring rain we had to walk from the boat to the bus-a bit of a walk when it is pouring :) Then today we walked to the boat(we were near the bus stop but I too love the boat--sun was shining but they refused to board us because of weather-so we had to walk back to the bus and take it back to POR. That said I still love the boat and if you get a good captain can be a lot of fun

Editing again to say that I have the above all worked out now. Just one other question....

Where does the boat at POR leave from?

I leaves from the side door of the checkin room--best to look on the map ;)

Leave at 7:30, and take the bus to the MK. At the MK, transfer to a bus to WL; look for a bus that has either 'WILDERNESS LODGE" or "DHWL" on the marquee.

You could also take a boat from MK to WL, but it will likely take longer. The bus ride is only 5 minutes, and there are lots of buses running from MK to WL in the a.m. The official load zone at MK is #2, but buses may stop anywhere in the a.m., as they're primarily dropping off at MK rather than picking up for WL.

I have a Chef Mickey reservation on Sept the 26th at 7am. I am staying at Pop resort, will I need to get a taxi or can i use transportation? I know that MK has EMH at 8-9am....so will buses run at 6:30

Buses start at 6:30 every morning, but that won't get you there in time. Take a taxi.

What time does the resort monorail start running? We are staying at POR and prefer to drive to the parks (DH hates buses). I made an 8:00 ADR at 1900 Park Fare on the day we'll be going to MK. MK opens at 9 that morning. If we park at MK lot, then attempt to take the resort monorail at 7:30 - will it even be operating yet?

I suppose we could always walk from TTC to Poly and then find the path from Poly to GF, but that's a lot of walking before we really even start our day... We would prefer not to move the car from GF to MK lot either. So I guess my question is: will the monorail be operating or should I move my breakfast back to 8:30?

I have some questions about transportation. Please, and Thank you!

1) I have a 7:10am reservation for Chef Mickey's. We are staying at Fort Wilderness Campground. Can we actually make this reservation? A taxi really isn't a great option for us as we have 7 people in our party.

2) We have a reservation for 1900 Park Fare at 5pm. We will be MK that day. What is the best way to get to the GF?

3) What is the best way to get from FW to each of the parks?

Thank you so much for helping my planning. I am worried about relying on Disney transportation

7 a.m. every day, regardless of MK opening time.

The boats from FtW to CR officially start running at 6:45. I don't know what time the first boat arrives at CR from FtW, but it could be as late as 7:15, so you might be 10 minutes or so late. Ask a bus driver on an internal shuttle bus what time the first bus is from your campsite to the Settlement.

You may want to post this question on the Camping at WDW board, where you may have a better chance of hearing from someone with personal experience.
2) We have a reservation for 1900 Park Fare at 5pm. We will be MK that day. What is the best way to get to the GF?
There is a boat from MK to GF, which is usually faster than the monorail, which makes several stops on the way. The boat docks right at the foot of the Resort Monorail entrance ramp.
3) What is the best way to get from FW to each of the parks?
There's not much choice.

To get to the MK, you take the boat from the Settlement. If you want to get there earlier than the boat starts running, you can take the boat to the CR and walk to MK. If for some reason you don't want to ride the boat, the alternative is a bus from the Settlement to WL, and transfer to a bus to MK.

For all other parks & DTD, you take a bus from the Outpost, which is the parking lot and auto entrance for FtW.

The internal shuttle buses get you from your campsite to either location.

The boat will be there sometime between 6:45 and 7:15. I would take a cab - you can fit 7 passengers in one taxi van.

 I am at ASMO now! We have dinner reservations at Cape May Cafe at 5:15. Can anyone please tell me how to get there easily and how long I should plan on it taking?

Thanks! :goodvibes The CM just suggested any park bus and then a bus to "that resort".

Bus to DHS and then boat or walk to cape may.

You could take a bus to MK or AK, but you'll be going way out of the way. There won't be a bus from Epcot at all.

Take a bus to either DHS or AK....whichever one comes first. From DHS, you can walk to Cape May in about 20 mins...there's a nice path from DHS to the BW and then you go left up the hill, and right down the bridge to the YC/BC.
From AK, take the bus to BC. I would plan on leaving your resort no later than 3:45. It can take awhile.
Or, just get a cab. Won't be cheap, but it will be faster and more direct.
