Check with the insurance company. I paid the co-pay for all the testing before hand ($25 for each specialist) and then my $500 co-pay for the hospital. Otherwise my insurance covered everything. I think the surgery was billed at $22,000 and then the 2 days in ICU that my surgeon insists on.Your insurance paid? Wow, that was one of my excuses for not doing it, I didn't want to pay! I have all kinds of medical reasons to get it, arthritis, chronic pain, need knees replaced, ankle fused, borderline high blood pressure and herniated discs in back. I wonder if they will pay for me?
Now if I could just get past the fear, and I still worry that I will "miss" eating.
I thought I would miss eating as well. In fact I had surgery the week after Thanksgiving. You would have thought that I was having my throat cut the way I was eating. I swear I gained 5 pounds right before surgery.

And believe it or not, there is a book titled "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies". Its actually very good and answers alot of questions. Good luck with your decision. Its a tough one to make.
