*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

We totally want to do drinks or something at Trader Sams too! Been to DL but have never checked it out. Never really even looked into it until a month or so ago. Looking forward to checking it out this trip!

Love the Dole Whips! My daughter and I share one almost every day we are in the park!

My son LOVESSSSSSSSSSSS churro. He actually has a "Churro Budget" :rotfl: As soon as he knows we are going to DL, he starts saving his change every week.

We also want to try the fried chicken this time too. Yummy!

The Beignets at Ralph Brennans in DTD are A-MAZ-ING! :cloud9:

I haven't have the beignets there. But we went to Jazz Kitchen years ago and their bread pudding was soooo good. We plan to go there again. I hope it's still good.

The churro budget. I love it. Your son sounds awesome!

I live in Alberta, Canada. I travel in February because it's freezing here. Yesterday our high was -30C.

Whereabouts are you in Alberta? The weather has SUCKED the past few days. Ugh! Sure has me counting down the days until our trip! lol

You need to try the beignets there. They are soooo good! We purchased some gift cards, so we will be going a couple of times. We'll check out the bread pudding!

One of our favorite things to do outside of the park is getting take out from there and taking it back to the room. Kind of like room service without the insane prices! lol

Yes, my son is pretty awesome lol All four of us love our Disney vacations and look so forward to them! My daughter, who is now in grade 11, has asked us several times if she'll still get to come once she graduates lol Our excuse for going to DL so many times was we wanted to go as many times as they wanted while they were still young enough to enjoy it. Well, I'm not sure they will EVER be too old for DL!

I will be so sad if our son ever decides that he is too old for Disney. As I have mentioned before, he is autistic and one of the characteristics is that ASD kids are socially delayed so I figure one of the benefits is that we might get an extra few years before he decides he is too cool to hang out with his parents at Disneyland!

I am not sure about Aussie meals but I can tell you that I find American meals really big compared to Canadian ones. The fried chicken at the Plaza Inn that I was talking about is a great example. DH and I get one order and share for lunch and neither of us feels hungry afterwards. The meal is an entire half chicken, big scoop of green beans (which I can't eat, they have bell peppers and I am allergic so I ask for them on a separate plate), a big scoop of mashed potatoes, a biscuit (not a cookie kind of biscuit, more like a scone) and gravy. I'm fairly sure that on our first trip when DS was 6 all three of us could have split it and walked away full!

DH loves to tell the story of when we went to Vegas for our 5th anniversary. By the time our last full day came around I was so tired of the big meals that I ordered a salad. Nothing fancy, just a garden salad. I had a hard time convincing the waitress that I didn't want anything with it, just a side salad. When the bowl came, it was big enough for an entire family to share! DH says the look on my face was priceless, that he was not sure if I was going to laugh or cry. I ate as much as I could and even after that, it barely looked as though I had touched it.

Oh I can totally relate! We go to Vegas quite a bit and after a day or two, just walking by a buffet........ugh! Butttttttttttttt we still manage to eat at most of them :rotfl:

I remember flying to DL last time, we didn't have direct flights and made a stop in Salt Lake. We went for breakfast and ordered what we thought would be a basic bacon and eggs, with a side of toast. OMG! The plates were HUGE! At least we never feel like we're getting ripped off when we eat in the States! :rotfl:

I hope he never outgrows it!

Mine are 16 and almost 12 and they still love it. Once a DL fan, always a DL fan. That's my opinion anyways

If you are travelling with kids I would look into the midway games as you can get decent stuffed animals as prizes much more cheaply than in the stores and can guarantee a win if you get enough family members playing and play at a deader time so no one else joins you.

Sadly, Boardwalk Bazaar is also closed in February. At least, the first half of it. :sad2: I would assume that means the midway games too.

April 2014 had these:
Finding Nemo Subs
Small World
Alice in Wonderland
Indiana Jones
Pirates
King Arthur Carousel
Redwood Creek Trail
Little Mermaid
Grizzly River Run

Plus:
Plaza Inn
It's Tough to be a Bug

.

I'd take our current refurb list, over this one ANY DAY! I would hate, hate, hate to miss out on Pirates, Indiana Jones or Little Mermaid! Pirates is our late night, very tired, need to relax ride. When we went around Halloween a few years back, the park was so dead late one night and we rode Pirates probably 5 times in a row, without having to get off. It was fantastic!! lol We were so tired and just loved being able to rest our feet while enjoying one of our favorite rides!

My husband grew up near Disneyland has always loved it. So I think that some people just love it their whole lives. Then you have people like my brother who's never been a Disney parks fan.

I think the portion sizes everywhere are perfect. But...I'm a Midwesterner...ha!

I am not sure about taking my son on Pirates. I don't know if the drops will freak him out. I also don't know about taking him on some of the dark rides. I'm afraid he'll be scared. He's always been kind of a scared kids so it's strange.

You know what else isn't on the list? The Castle. Very misleading for people travelling in February. Imagine rocking up not knowing the Castle will be covered?

Speaking of funny photos, I might get a family picture taken in front of the covered castle with our thumbs down BOOOOO!!

I actually thought about this. There are probably A LOT of people whom this will be a total suprise to. Honestly the majority of people do not subscribe to the the disboard who go to Disneyland...its the the disney undercover group-LOL. :rotfl2:

I'm sure there will be quite a few families surprised---especially since it is NOT posted to the US website.

It is posted on one of the US calendars...

At least we have a month to "get used to the idea" but imagine showing up at DL your first morning, walk to the top of main street and BOOM, ugly tarps covering the castle?!?!? I would be BEYOND upset! I'm sure city hall will be quite busy during this time, especially if they don't get their website updated!

I am disappointed. Very disappointed. We won't cancel our trip but I will make sure to mention it when we check in to the GCH, when we pick up my pass and any other time I can mention it lol Okay, I won't go that far but I will certainly be thinking it every stinkin' time I walk by the tarps. lol

Sooooooooooooooo how do you get to Fantasyland, other than walking all....the....way.....around? :furious:

It's not on this one though:

https://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendars/park-hours/2015-02-04/

When I click on parks and then park hours, that's what comes up. Nothing about the castle. When I told my hubby, this is the calendar he went to as well, without me sending him the link. I think it would be safe to assume this may be the most utilized calendar since it's the easiest to find, with just a few clicks. That calendar needs to be updated a.s.a.p.!

I think the picture tarps are really cheesy looking. So maybe that will make for a funny photo after all...

I think my DD's are going to be most shocked! I don't have the heart to tell them prior. They had such an amazing look of excitement & amazement the first time they saw it. Don't want to take away from their excitement leading up to our trip. I am sure that there will be plenty Disney fun to keep us busy...but its going to be weird & different. :teleport: I've never been to Disneyland when the Castle was covered.
