*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

I don't see it on the list. So I am wondering if before when I saw "Ariel's Grotto" my brain made me think of the wishing well...haha. So...I almost wish it was a plain, ugly tarp. I know that sounds dumb but to me...that is just so ugly and dumb that it would make a funny photo.

You know what else isn't on the list? The Castle. Very misleading for people travelling in February. Imagine rocking up not knowing the Castle will be covered?

Speaking of funny photos, I might get a family picture taken in front of the covered castle with our thumbs down BOOOOO!!

I'm just as disappointed as the rest of you in all the closures. When we've gone in the past, it's always been late February early March and this is what we've run into. Disneyland can't do refurbs without closing things. I'm sorry some of you are cancelling because of it. Disneyland has so much to offer that closing one area wouldn't keep us away.

DH and I were talking about the castle closure from another aspect... The waking!! I assume the side passages will be closed too which means walking all the way around to get to Fantasyland. This is going to change some plans for us. And no need to stress an extra Mickey bar!

Anyone else plan on wearing a Fitbit or something similar in the parks? I am! I can't wait to see how many steps I get.

You know, I actually hope more people cancel because of the closures! The less people there, the better. Their loss can be our gain.

I just got a fit bit a few days ago and I'm addicted. Yes I'll have mine on for sure :)

There are two Disneyland Calendars - This doesn't list it ...https://disneyland.disney.go.com/attractions/
This one does list it....https://disneyland.disney.go.com/ca/calendar/#/default/2015/02/06-

What's even more odd is that this version of the calendar does not have the Castle on it and this is from the American site as opposed to the Canadian one:

https://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendars/five-day/2015-02-06/

Anyone else plan on wearing a Fitbit or something similar in the parks? I am! I can't wait to see how many steps I get.

I have two pedometer apps on my phone so I usually track that way. Last time we went I logged 90174 steps over the 5 days we were there.

I have a question - does anyone know about the Jedi Academy?
What age kids usually get picked? Is 3 too little? Is 12, but small looks more like 10ish, too big?
Do people still make signs to get chosen? Do siblings still often get picked to go together?

THEN - Are there any other shows which kids get picked to help with? Just wondering if there is anything else we need to prepare for.

Thanks

Hey all - I just heard back from Disney...

Yes the Castle is indeed going to be covered and closed.

Are you freaking kidding me?!?!?! They have all those other attractions down, and now the castle, the center point of DL is going to be behind a dirty sheet. How dumb can they be? How dumb can I be for buying an AP the year EVERYTHING goes down. After all the people I listened to talking up DL and having APs and being able to go down there whenever. Go down to what? Maybe they can cancel fireworks too. Oh wait, that's right.

But I'm talking in the wrong place. Someone will be along soon to tell how bad it is for me to get so upset that half the e-tickets will be down for my upcoming trips. Honestly, I feel like I just got ripped off. Mega. And yes, the Castle is the tipping point. I sincerely hope this is all a bad rumor.

Hey, get upset all you want! :headache: It sucks that you are disappointed and feel as though your AP is not worth it. I wonder if you contact them and complain about all the closures if they will allow you to cancel your AP similar to how they allowed AP holders to cancel after the big change from the GAC to the DAS. I know that there were a handful of people who felt as though the new system just was never going to work for them and called and complained enough to get their AP cancelled. Dunno if it would work for being disappointed because of refurbs but you never know...if you are this upset then you might want to try.

Sorry - I know how you feel! I can certainly say though that this isn't a rumor. I talked to someone directly at Disney today, as have other people. It is happening. The walls are a yes for sure, the tarp to look like the castle is a strong maybe as far as I got (It will be covered and they are pretty sure it will look like a castle still), and it is "likely" that the back view of the castle is open but I'm not going to count on it since she didn't sound too sure but "thought" we could see it.

Nope not a bad rumour, I emailed Disney about it last week and got this response today from Leigh.

"The Sleeping Beauty Castle will be closed for reburbishment. Unfortunately, Disney installs a façade or backdrop during any refurbishment or enhancement project, but the actual castle is not likely to be fully visible.

I’m so sorry about the timing"!!

Totoally understand you being upset, you are not alone there - trust me...

I just saw pics of the castle tarp from the DL Paris refurb and it doesn't look that bad. I'm just wondering if the side walkways to FL will be open! I also feel like I read somewhere the wishing well would be closed, which would make me think the walkways are also closed.

have seen some food comments…I am sad enough to have a Disney food bucket list. Looking to knock some off my list this trip as well as revisit old faves. Anyone else have food that is a must do…or a must try?

Must do:
Dole Whip (hopefully several times)
Churro
Mickey Pretzel
Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese
drinks at Trader Sams

Hope to try (eliminating seasonal and Hungry Bear)
- Baked Potato Soup
-Mickey Beignets
- Pommes Frittes
-Fried Chicken

We totally want to do drinks or something at Trader Sams too! Been to DL plenty of times but have never checked it out. Never really even looked into it until a month or so ago. Looking forward to checking it out this trip!

Love the Dole Whips! My daughter and I share one almost every day we are in the park!

My son LOVESSSSSSSSSSSS churros. He actually has a "Churro Budget" :rotfl: As soon as he knows we are going to DL, he starts saving his change every week.

We also want to try the fried chicken this time too. Yummy!

The Beignets at Ralph Brennans in DTD are A-MAZ-ING! :cloud9:

How much longer is your AP valid? Because come May-ish...pretty much everything will be open. And they'll have tons of new things for the 60th anniversary. So later in the year is probably a great time to have an AP.
