What a shame on his part, when you act like like a little kid you need to say sorry. throwing a fit like he did on national tv was horrible. The judges are there to judge.

I can't image anyone saying, that Simon was mean on AI and deserve to get yelled and screamed at.

Actually I think Bruno needs to stop calling people Ewoks, penquins, etc. Maks had had enough and I don't blame him in the least. It's time the judges starting judging fairly and leave the popularity contest up to the audience vote.

why don't you think they judge fairly? Maks thinks that show revolves around him he said LOL. Which is a huge slap in the face to the other dancers

I think the judges and viewers made the right choice last night. It was Chaz's turn to go. He wasn't able to keep up to the same level as the others.

I do think Maks was out of line with his comments. He should have kept those 'off air' and dealt with it after the show. I also thought that the comment about DWTS being 'his' show was strange. He can't really believe he is the whole show.

He did apologize for that last night. He said he didn't mean it. IIRC he said essentially that he was thinking one thing and that popped out of his mouth instead.

Tom said something like: "Damn. I was going to ask him for a raise!"

Because the scores they gave Chaz were too high. The first few weeks he didn't even dance, he walked around the stage, yet got some scores that were as high as some of the other celebs who danced so much better. I think they need to stop judging based on ratings, the audience does a good enough job of keeping their favorites in the game. I think Len is being very hard on Hope; he should not let his feelings about Maks color his judging of technique.

As for Maks' comments about it being "his" show, he clarified that this morning. He feels like they are a family, he has invested 6 years into the show and feels it is "his", meaning his home, his life, etc.

Yup. She already had a HUGE assignment that she had been ignoring for weeks that was due tomorrow. Then yesterday I find out that (1) she was assigned a project in another class last THURSDAY and (2) she did not have the instructions with her. I made her sit her butt down and email the teacher herself asking for an extension. Tomorrow is the last day of the quarter, so that was the best she could do. She finished the first project at about 7:00 tonight and we (yes, we ) worked on the other one afterwards. I had a lot more direction and input than I would have usually wanted. *sigh* She's a good kid, but she has issues when it comes to getting things done in a timely manner. I wonder where she gets it from :rolleyes1.

I got me one of those kids, lol...DS to be exact. Guess who ran out of printer ink at 10pm last night when 30 brochures needed to be printed out for Government class? Group project AGAIN, and the kid who was supposed to be doing the brochure part flat out didn't have it done, so DS decides he is going to pick up the slack at 8pm! I couldn't get too mad since he was covering for someone else, but waiting until 4 hours after he got home did not make me happy. Pretty sure you can guess how the arguement went down...me: if you hadn't waited 'till 9:45 to start printing we would not have been caught off-guard! DS: How was I supposed to know we'd run out of ink? me: Ummm, you think ahead and check the ink level pictures on the printer! DS: What? This is MY fault? I'm covering someone elses fail, and I'm only doing that because we have to present to the entire Senior class! This is NOT my fault! :rolleyes1 I think we were Maks and Len last night

But Bruno is disrespectful too - often to the dancers - calling Chaz a penquin?

Len too says things to dancers that are often crossing the line.

Cari Ann, though, I don't remember every saying anything disrespectful to dancers.

Liz

Yes, Bruno and Len can be demeaning at times. They couch it in "critiques," but they are demeaning comments.

Were you even watching Bruno? Or do you have a thing on when someone is an authority figure (judge) they can do no wrong?

Bruno demeaned Chaz by calling him a cute penguin. Yes, the judges are there to judge, not take advantage of their position and demean a human being. That is never acceptable.

Maks did not yell or scream. You are reading a lot in and missing other stuff.

Yes, they need to judge fairly the DANCING, across the board, not changing it up depending on the person. And certainly not making demeaning comments.

Maks also clarified it last night. He meant "OUR" show, as in ALL the dancers, too. It's not just the judges show, as with American Idol. The show is the show because of what the PRO dancers who come back consistently, have brought for the past 6 years. That INCLUDES: Derek, Cheryl, Kym, etc.

They work hard every single week to make their star dancer be able to do a dance with dignity and respect. Then Len tears her down saying her dance was the worse he had seen from her, meanwhile giving Chaz, only 1 point less than her.

Bruno comes along and calls one of them a cute penguin and an Ewok.
If he had said a black person danced like the N-word, that wouldn't be acceptable, as it dehumanizes the person. So is calling someone a penguin and an Ewok. Talk about a slap in the face.

Awww I'm sad to see Chaz leave the show. I kind of fast forwarded through all the controversy last night so i had no idea what went on with Maks and the judges! While I think he was a bit "raw" and even disrespectful of the judges, he was RIGHT. Bruno has always been demeaning with his cutesy comments. I'll be interested to see if he dials it back next week.

Bruno has always been demeaning with his cutesy comments.
I think that even his "positive" comments can be demeaning, especially when he gushes about how hot and sexy some of the women danced calling them minxes. sex kittens, etc.

I could be wrong but is Bruno gay?

I think you are taking things to far, you can say anything and offend someone. I think penguin are cute animals, I also think Ewoks are cute as. It dehumanize to call people names like that.

How do you know Maks meant to include us when he said he was the show.

Did you have a problem with Simon on AI he was 100 times worse then Len or Bruno EVER was.

Maks explained himself during the results show.

Bruno's penguin comment was that he looked like a little penguin hopping about trying to be a bid bad bird of prey. It was a slam. Maybe he doesn't mean to be MEAN, but his comments are mean and certainly not meant in a positive way.

OH!!!! Love that he called out Derek - saying he'd he happy too if he always got the best partners :lmao:

I know we've discussed this in past seasons, and IIRC quite a few Dis-ers agree with Maks. I don't though.

BTW, I found the exact quote:

"Derek Hough has been very supportive of his personal career on the show," Maksim said in an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America Wednesday. "When you say judges have been generous, with all due respect, if I had Nicole Scherzinger followed by Jennifer Grey followed by Ricki Lake, I probably would not be very upset with the judges either."

Seems like quite a slam not only to Derek, but to his own partners as well, at least if you ask me.

And I have to say, I find it funny that Maks complained about Derek being partnered with Jennifer Grey on the season he was partnered with Brandy. Maybe it's just me, but if it were a school yard pick, I would have expected Brandy to be chosen before Jennifer.

Same with this season, would Ricki Lake really have been your top pick going in?

Here's the list:

Elisabetta Canalis
Kristin Cavalleri
Nancy Grace
Ricki Lake
Chynna Phillips
Hope Solo

Again, maybe It's just me, but I didn't expect Ricki to do as well as she has, and I would have pegged Hope for having more potential.

Coaching, choreography, age, ability, motivation, personality, popularity, etc all play into it. I honestly don't think it's always easy to predict who will do well before the season even starts.

Anyway, while I can understand Maks's frustration, and maybe even agree with some of his points (to some extent) everyone on DWTS knows what they're getting into. It's a competition, you're judged, and some of the comments can be harsh, because ultimately it's all about entertainment and ratings.

Along those lines, I think Maks has made some comments that are out of line, but he's getting a lot of press, and isn't the Hollywood motto "any publicity is good publicity"?

Sometimes I do think the judges forget that the stars are not professional dancers though.

Perhaps they should mark them lower at the start of the season...4s and 5s....so they have somewhere to go to show that they are noting the improvement.
