Official Disneyland ½ Marathon & 5k

You can always run together as well by just lining up in the furthest back corral that it assigned between you both. You can go back but not forward. For example if you are in corral C and your sister is in E, you can go back to E with her. She just can't come up to C.

Of course, running something together for a new qualifying time to get the best corral placement for both of you works too.

that will be plan B if we can't run together, but we both live in the same town so it shouldn't be difficult to just run a local race together in July/August, I have found a few that would work.

As of right now I would be in the last with no proof beyond my garmin records. hahaha. I just always hate to spend the money to go race since it's easier for me to just get of the house on my own at random times (I have a 2 year old). Funny considering I signed up for this expensive race that requires a ton of planning :)

Anyone know anything about the holiday inn hotel and suites on Walnut? Would they have an ART stop or are they close enough to walk? I've never stayed on that side of the park do i don't know that area as well

Ah, I'm signed up for the 1/2 and going to get the coast to coast medal :) Waitlisted for GCV but I'm thinking I won't be lucky as it also is Labor Day weekend.

Made a deposit through the special travel thing sent in the email for the DL resort as my backup. Now to hopefully find airfare that won't cost a montly check....

My dad and I are doing the half again and I'm doing the 5k with my mom and daughter.
I really need to start looking at hotels. I start and get overwhelmed! We stayed at the Super 8 last year. It was ok, but I want to stay somewhere a little nicer.

This is going to sound like a weird question but is there a way to get a 5K entry with charity? My Dad expressed interest in running the 5k a little too late to register (end of Feb). And I feel kind of bad because he isn't in town that often because of work.

I know GET Travel (the travel sponsor) had slots available for the Neverland 5K in January. You may be able to get something that way.

Just checked, they don't have anything available either, thanks anyway!

Maybe you will be lucky and get the 1 BR that I cancelled yesterday :-)

I honestly can't remember if I posted in this thread or not and if I did, I can't find it...

Anyway I am out there from the Midwest and need to know what airport is a good one to fly into? I'm looking for an airport that is not too pricy, not a lot of hassle, and easy to get to Land from.

Any west coasters that could help me out I would appreciate!
Thanks

Orange County (SNA) is a very easy airport and about 25 min to DLR.

SNA is the closest and usually has less traffic to/from DLR. But it's always WAY more expensive for me (coming from the NW). I don't mind LAX or LGB. Always take a shuttle van or taxi and have never had a problem.

I'm from Michigan as well. I've flown into both LAX and SNA (Orange County/John Wayne).

I highly suggest SNA-John Wayne. Especially if you are flying in at a time where there would be traffic from LAX to Anaheim.

The last time I was lucky enough to find airfare to SNA for onnly about $20 more than LAX. Between the closeness of the airport to Disney and the lack of hassle/hussle/craziness that is LAX, it was a bargain. I would probably even pay $50 more to fly into SNA.

I would say it is comparable to choosing to fly out of DTW-Metro or FNT-Flint Bishop, with Great Lakes Crossing mall being your destination.

Hope that helps. :goodvibes

I love flying in to SNA. It is such a pleasant airport and hassle free. When I arrived for the DL half last year, I had purchased van transport (can't remember company) to the DL hotel. I happened to ride with one of the vendors at the Expo and when I visited her booth, she kindly gave me a discount on the stuff I bought! In any case, I would always choose SNA over LAX...just my two cents!

Thanks a lot for the airline help everyone! Last time we were out in Land was 2010 and we flew into Phoenix because we were doing an all out west trip with the Grand Canyon, Arches, Death Valley and Land so we started and stopped in Phoenix.

Now to keep my eye out for inexpensive airfare....

Registration for the 2013 Tinker Bell Half Marathon will open Tuesday, June 12 at 12:00 pm EDT.

Quick question about hotels... I have a room booked at BW Stovall Inn for the night before the race, got a rate of $93. I can also get a free room at Towneplace Suites Anaheim Maingate with rewards points. It says it's 2.4 miles away from Disney (but not sure how far from the start of the race). We will have a car and my husband is not racing but will be dropping me off.

My question is which hotel should I reserve? Not overly concerned about the price, although free is nice, but would just like which one is more convenient.

thank you!

I think Stovall's would be a little better choice. I was about to say either one, b/c you mentioned your husband could drop you off, but I was thinking about the traffic and craziness of road closures for after the race. It would be easier just to finish and walk down the block to the hotel.

Assuming the start and finish is the same, the start line is on DL Drive under the DTD walkover. The finish line is in the DL hotel parking lot behind ESPN Zone.

Don't know if anyone saw this or is interested, but saw on the website that they added a necklace to the list of commemorative items. I think it's like $20 or something.

Hi all -

We will only be staying Saturday night, and I am considering the Clarion Hotel. DH and I fly in Saturday morning, will do Expo, then Twilight Tickets (or maybe one day park hoppers...), then the run the next morning and then a flight out at 7:30 PM.

So we won't be in the room very much. Clarion sounds fine, good price. Does it have shuttle service to DL? Should I pay $25 more and go for Red Lion or Marriott? Should I splurge and do one night at a Disney hotel?

Thoughts?

We will not have a rental car. We plan to do the shuttle from LAX or a taxi or something.
