Official Disneyland ½ Marathon & 5k

It's great! Tastes like homemade and the portions are huge!

They don't take reservations but you can call ahead and put your name in. It does get busy the night before the race and the parking lot is kind of small. We walked over from BW Stovall's.

Do they do take-out?

Heads up for the drive down ~ I was looking at the DOT website yesterday and at Rte. 43 b/w Buttonwillow and the Grapevine, it's down to 1 lane. But the good news is that it's done on the 1st so it won't be a problem coming home. They also said there is 1 lane closed on the Grapevine, but there are still 3 open so hopefully it won't be that bad.

Sure lets all do a meet up some where in downtown Disney on a saturday. Anyone recommend a place?

No just bored at work. I've been stalking DOT and the weather for Vegas in an effort to try and not get too excited yet. Although last night I did make out my list for DL...

DH and I will keep a 4:30 PM meet on Saturday at DTD in mind, but we might not be able to get away from California Adventure in time to make it.

I am getting really excited! I almost want to get 2 more 1day1park tickets for us for Sunday, since we won't need to be heading to LAX until probably 5 PM.

Which leads me to a question I didn't really think about until now:

I am hoping we can wait to check out of our room until after the 1/2 on Sunday, but once we check out we will have our carry on baggage to deal with until our shuttle back to the airport. Do you think our hotel will let us keep it with bell services until we are ready? Should we just keep them with us and put them in Disney lockers? Since we are going to be checking out like 5 hours before our shuttle, should we consider catching the shuttle somewhere other than our hotel? Can you do that?

It is really worth taking care of the shuttle arrangements prior to traveling? I kinda want to wing it Saturday and Sunday - I mean it can't be THAT hard to get from LAX to Disney and back. I'm almost thinking a rental car is the way to go maybe, because we could stash our stuff in it, and then maybe we could allow for our own travel time to and from the hotel (because honestly with a 7:10 flight I am thinking we could LEAVE at 5:00 PM but with a shuttle service I bet it would have to be sooner.

Argh! Thoughts? I travel plenty but NEVER to LAX. Rental car or shuttle? HELP!

I'll probably have to pass on the meetup. I want to optimize the time in park with a friend so not this time. Maybe another time.

Update with my foot. Well the antibiotic didn't work like it was supposed to. It barely put a dent in the infection and when my doctor wouldn't make room to see me again and told me to go to the ER even after we told it her spread. We went to the ER where I was given an IV of a really strong antibiotic (nurses words not mine) and a second antibiotic to take on top of the first. Good news is that should finally turn around the infection. Bad news? Well according to the nurse the infection isn't in the stitches but the site itself. Now it's origin doesn't change much (antibiotics will take care of it) but it is the final nail in the coffin with the relationship with my dermatologist which has gotten very rocky recently. See this type of infection only happens when something non sterile is introduced into the site. So I was doomed from Day 1 post biopsy it appears since whatever caused it happened during the biopsy and it was only a matter of time before it became infected.

Not that it matters in the long run I guess. The foot will heal and we are going to do a Meet and Greet with a new dermatologist tomorrow after I get the stitches out. But it's just aggravating that this is evening happening.

So, DH and I will be doing California Adventure on Saturday until it closes...

Virgin America wants to charge me a $100 change fee PERSON to switch to the exact same flight leaving Friday instead of Saturday to LAX, so we will not be adding another day.

So I'm not sure if we will be able to break away from the park around 4:30 PM to head to DTD. But we do have to eat sometime... so maybe.

My weakness is also buying things at the Expo. I am going to be so tempted to register for the Disneyworld Half in January, but since DH are trying for a baby I might be preggo by then (which is fine), but an excuse to wait until next year so that I can actually run it full steam.

I just changed my Virgin tix so that the 3 pf us are now Saturday thru Monday. The fare actually dropped since I booked so it only cost $223 for the changes for 3 people. (They minus any fare decrease from your $100 change fee). Maybe the fare has dropped for you, and it wont be the $100???

Not exactly an expert here, but I used to fly in, and do live down here now. They have Disney Busses (big ones) that do drop offs at some hotels around the park. I'm not sure how many stops, by my recollection is that it isn't hard to take it and fins a stop close to your hotel. I think you can just hop the bus at the airport without reservation.

Every hotel I have been at did have some kind of bell desk. This should be pretty common as most people go to the parks on their last day.

time just seems to be slipping away. Its hard to believe its so close! I'm not worried about distance, I've done 26 miles recently...walking. When I did my last half, I ran about 60% of it. I was hoping for that or better this time. I really need to step it up.

Kappy - Thanks for the heads up. I checked with Virgin America and if I changed my flight home to Tuesday night, it would only cost like $75 change fee for the both of us combined because the return flight is way cheaper than what I already paid for Sunday, but that would require two more nights of hotel, with possibly another day or two in the parks, and two days away from work, and I just can't take that kind of time and money right now especially with our big deluxe club level extravaganza at WDW coming in December with my folks.

Oh well. So my itinerary remains the same, and I am still pretty stoked about it. I appreciate the comments about the buses, Reep.

Some hotels charge for parking. It can be quite a bit. I would ask yours.

And, I would avoid driving Sunday morning. Some event or something is going on that might block some of the streets.

Hoping someone can confirm. My friend had not signed up for the DL half (was not sure he would be in the country). He is now here and able to run. Of course the website says race is sold out, but it says Registration is open for 2012 Disneyland Half. He just signed up and got a confirmation. Did they really open up registration? I would feel really bad if he comes all they way out and they say no. I am going to tell him to bring his confirmation number just in case.
