Eeewwww!! I know, it was so bad on Saturday!! We got to 100 I think, and when the 10pm news came on it was still 82. How bad was it up there? I got a 5k in Sat before it got crazy, went off at 7:30 and we were in the shade for about 1/2 of it so that was good. My mistake was that I went down the street to the pool later that afternoon to swim. I got about a good hour in, but then everybody started showing up and playing in the "big" pool so I had to stop. But I got a nice tan, so I guess that was good.:beach:

We did get over 100 on Sat. Sun. we head to the beach and it was a cool 58 degrees---can't win.

Have you been following the Car's Land/ Buena Vista Street openings ?? I can't wait to see it, 14 more days and counting.

I read that some new D & B bags are coming out (at least at WDW). More "charm" ones. They even showed a backpack from a different style. Have you heard anything ??? I would LOVE a D & B backpack.

I saw the bags on the parks blog. They're doing a retro bag for WDW, I have to say no offense to WDW people, but I kinda like ours better. Depending on the pattern, it's not as colorful and I think that's one of the reasons I like the DL one so much. I saw the backpack, I think it was the same pattern as the credit card cases. I'm good w/ my little D & B though. But I did see a lot of canvas bags that caught my eye in the Star Traders store last weekend. Am going to have to go back race weekend.

As for the opening on Friday... I was going back on so many sites trying to read/see everything, I had so many minimized and whenever I could sneak peek at work they were up. It looks amazing! So jealous you get to go down! You have to come back and give a report. I was hoping to sneak a weekend in before the race, but the only chance I really have would be right after july 4th, and I think I'll pass on that weekend. I've resigned myself to stay away from DCA Friday when race weekend so the 5k is the 1st time I'll see it so I can be in complete awe of the size. Plus there won't be as many people as there would be day of. :goodvibes But I'm 85% sure I staying until Tues now, so hopefully I can get everything in. I think Sunday I'm going to do ADR for Carthay as a celebratory lunch or dinner though.

Heads up if you're driving down ~ Buttonwillow construction is back and running on the 5. The part coming back home was a little longer stretch than going down, but it wasn't that bad.

You have better will power than I do to stay away from CL before the race. But that will be so cool to see it for the first time running down route 66. I wonder if we get to run it for the 1/2 ? I will definately give you a report when we get back. I'll also check out Star Traders for bags--I never seem to go into that store. Do you remember the $ for the backpack ??

Thanks for the heads up regarding Buttonwillow. It really seems like there is always construction of some sort going on. How long does it take you to drive down?

Anyone from GA or Atlanta running the Disneyland half? I am going out west alone on Labor day weekend. Will be flying out on Saturday morning to get my number and spend the rest of the time trying to figure out what to do.

I think we do get to run down 66. It showed a pic on fb on Fri and said something about seeing it 1st hand. Fingers crossed!!

As for the backpack, they didn't have $, at least not yet, but they had a video showing it. It kinda looked like a medium size barrel type. It was bigger than the purse size ones that were popular in the 90s, but smaller than a regular size.

Driving down, usually I can get there in about 6 hours. Although my dad went with me when I went a couple weekends ago, and it was a Sunday, but even w/ 3 quick gas/bathroom stops, we got to HoJos in 5 1/2. The part I hate most though is the cut over on the 152 from the 101 to the 5. It's only 1 lane, and if you get stuck behind a big rig... Can you guys jump on the 5 or do you have to do freeway hopping?

I'm not from GA, but if you need any ideas or anything, ask away! :goodvibes

Hope so!

Two freeways for us 580 and the 5. I would LOVE to get there in 6 hrs. With all the bathroom stops, etc with our little guy it can take us 7-9 hrs. It also depends when we leave. We try and avoid LA traffic at all costs.

We're hoping to leave Friday morning. Last year we left just before noon and we barely made it Friday night cut off for the 5k check in. Hopefully my work will give me the afternoon off.

I hate the traffic too. Leaving around 5 for me is ideal, b/c we hit LA just after morning traffic and the only real hold-ups would be if there's an accident. I remember when I lived in SD, I had to go near LAX to take a test on a Friday mid-day. By the time I left, everything was horrible! I ended up stopping at DTD just to get away from traffic and to get some dinner.

If you're doing the 5k this year and don't get off in time, I could pick up stuff for you and meet up Fri night or before the race to hand off to you. I'll be there early Friday morning.

I am flying in Saturday morning and it looks like I will get there around 11 am. How busy will the expo be regarding picking up the runners packet. Trying figure out when is the best time to get it.

I've never gone to the Expo on Sat, but I know a lot go on Friday and people for the 5k and kids races won't be there, so I would think it won't be too bad.

They also sent out an email with a digital goody bag for the race. I tried to enter the ifittness giveaway, but it showed that they would pick the winner Feb 2012. Something is not right there.

So now that the email has come out and the digital packet is online, I have questions!!

1) I have been debating between tickets for DH and I, because we will only be able to experience the parks from Saturday mid-day to close. We are considering probably just California Adventure. We arrive in LAX around 9 PM, have to get to our Hotel Menage, then the Expo, and then we can do a park. So maybe by 1 or 2 PM by the time we are ready to enter?

- A twilight ticket through GetTravel is $62 PP and gets us in from 4PM - 10PM
- A one day/one park ticket is $71 PP and gets us in from open to close
- A Gold Cheer package gets hubby access to Main Street during the run, as well as a one day/one park ticket, for $99

SO I am thinking a $71 One Day ticket for me and a $99 Gold Package for him - BUT... the Platinum Package is only $134 and it includes everything above PLUS access to the Finish Line Lounge, which he might like. But then how do I get access to that lounge? Do I have to pay for that, and if so where do I sign up?

2) I saw that bus service is provided to runners from the Good Neighbor hotels throughout the weekend... but it starts at 5:45 AM on race day. So how do I get to the race line start on Sunday morning? We are staying at Hotel Menage. Based on the website, it sounds like I am on my own. :(

3) GetTravel offers tickets to the "Disneyland Resort Express Bus" for $32 roundtrip PP online.
- Is this a good price?
- Does anyone know how often the buses depart from LAX and the resorts? Every hour? Every two hours?
- Is just taking a taxi better?
- Given question #2, should we rent a car, and if I get Platinum Cheer Squad for DH we can get complimentary parking on race morning?

Thanks for the help!

I got that too. Maybe it's not out until then or maybe they're giving everyone a good shot at it and waiting until after WDW and Tink in January so more people are in the drawing.

Hopefully this will help. (followed your #'s)

1. One thing to keep is mind is how long you want to be on your feet walking around the day before the race as well as how late you want to stay at the parks. As for the different Chear Packages, it depends on what your husband wants to do while you're running. The race lounge, I believe is at the finish line, watching you cross the line. If you want to meet up w/ him after the race, he has to meet you in the parking lot in the staging area. You go through a completely separate area to get your medal, refreshments and your drop bag. I think they have a special seating area and bathroom, but there are areas around the finish line that are free; it's up to him whether the extra $35 is worth it. Park tixwise, if you aren't going to stay until 10 pm Sat night, I would spend the extra $9 so you can get into the parks earlier.

2. Not sure where you were looking for shuttle times, but the shuttles start at 3am Sun. morning. They'll drop you off at the shuttle area on the Harbor side so you just have to walk through DTD to the staging area. It's only a 5-10min walk from there. If you look at the map in the program, it'll make sense.

3. The Resort bus price is about the same as Super Shuttle, but if you go directly through the DL Resort, think its grayline shuttles or something it's only $30. They are hourly until 10:30 and then 1/2 hourly so you'll have to wait a little bit. If you go Super Shuttle, you usually wait no more than 15 min, but you go around the airport a couple of times to pick up people until there are no more people or the shuttle is full. I took the shuttle from LAX this April and I was at my hotel in 45 min. Don't know how much taxis cost but I would assume/hope it's a flat rate. If it's not, DO NOT take the taxi. There could be traffic and it could cost a ton of money. Unless you're going somewhere other than the park, I wouldn't get a car. It's easier to take a shuttle from LAX and ART Sat/Sun.
