So, my gf and I took our little annual birthday getaway and I ordered two cakes for us while we were there. We ordered a zebra cake from AKL and I ordered a surprise Rapunzel themed mini cake for our BOG dinner. Sorry if the pictures are somewhat big!
Zebra cake from AKL for $45 - bonus vanilla podium cake was free along with the little zebra cakes.
This one was a bit of an ordeal lol. It was delivered on our arrival night at AKL so we could pick at it for breakfast over the course of a few days. I had it for an 8:30pm room delivery, but we were later than we had anticipated at our ADR and when we got back at a quarter after 9 the cake wasn't there so I called private dining to make sure it was coming, since one girl I had spoken to on the phone when I needed to move it from Boma to the room had the date wrong. They said had called the room but no one answered and they didn't want to deliver it to an empty room. We got the cake, one of the managers personally helped deliver it to the room, and apologized over and over that it had been taken out too late to thaw out and was still kind of frozen, so they gave us a free vanilla podium cake decorated with a bunch of cute little white chocolate animals and a bunch of little zebra cakes and all three desserts were absolutely free of charge, even though I tried to tell them I was more than willing to pay for my cake! The vanilla cake and zebra cakes were delicious! However due to a very long story of a mishap, the zebra cake spoiled before we ever got to eat it
but I'm sure it was delicious.
Custom mini cake with buttercream icing, vanilla cake, white chocolate filling at BOG was $50.
This is a custom cake I had my girlfriend design like 6 months ago and ordered for a surprise for our BOG dinner (she thought she was designing it back then for something else that 'fell through'). I had to go to 3 different bakeries to get this made the way I wanted it. I got it from CR exactly the way I wanted it (down to the little lanterns on the sides on the sketch). It was absolutely delicious and beautiful, and my gf loved the cake and surprise. BOG did it wonderfully, our server didn't miss a beat with the surprise and brought it out in the dessert case like she was about to show us their regular desserts. It was wonderful.
If anyone wants to know the other bakeries I tried for this buttercream mini cake, this is how that went: Epcot told me they had to use fondant as nothing else would work and quoted me $65, the birthday girl hates fondant and I did not want to drop an extra $15 for the fondant, so I said no thank you. I tried for GF room delivery and they told me the only way they could do it would be a full size two tier cake cake that would at the very minimum start at $100. I'm going to assume that's a VERY low figure.
