I just got a fondant covered cake in the form of minnie with chocolate buttercream yellow cake and chocolate buttercream is that to plain? My daughter is turning 3? We are leaving in 7 days and I want her cake to be perfect.

She's 3... she'll LOVE it! :thumbsup2

I'm ordering a mini cake from the Contemporary as a surprise for my DH at our anniversary dinner at the Cali Grill. We were married on 11/11/11 and I'd love to think up a cute anniversary saying to go along with the 11/11/11 theme to put on the plate. Do any of you talented cake people have any ideas?

Here's the picture I was thinking of. I think I'd go with a deeper blue though, but not as deep as navy.

There's just something about the photo props that I don't like, they just seem kind of cheapy looking, but that's just me, and I really don't mean to offend anyone. I know sometimes there just aren't any other options. I think the white chocolate castle would be a lot classier looking.

:) Ok I am officially sold on the white chocolate castle! Thanks for finding this picture. It will be good to have the extra reference! Well, if all goes as planned I will make sure I post a picture and price here from our Decemeber trip.:goodvibes

I would say with 99.9% confidence the answer will be no. But you can always ask. I have never seen that happen. I'm sure it's too hard for the people in the costumes to hold a cake because of the limited vision they have in the costume and the lack of dexterity with the gloves.

I'm fairly sure the characters aren't allowed to bring cakes out. I know at CRT they're not allowed. If one person had a cake delivered by Snow White, Mickey, Tigger, then everyone would.

IF you are talking the large white chocolate castle I believe that is $100 on its own. And the little one is VERY small. So not sure what the budget was but money wise I don't think the castle would be advisable for a 6-8 inch cake. Actually I think the larger castle requires at least an 8 inch. :confused3

I thought I saw the smaller one and it looked good in size to me - we are looking for a small cake anyway. I hope to call by the end of next week so I will make it a point to find out what details I can. Thanks :) I do like my husband a lot but I think I can find a better way to spend $100 than on white chocolate!

There is a smaller one but it is for the small cakes that feed 1-2 people... typically on the mini wedding cakes.
This was mine just a month ago....

To lurkyloo and all other cake helper-- please unite and help me :)
We are going May 26th-June 2nd. My son graduates on May 25th and will only be with us for part of the trip. He is picking a place to eat--has not told us yet--I would like to have some sort of cake. I did not particularly like the congrats class cake--to formal for us. He wants to be an architect and loves rock-n-rollercoaster. He loves all things drawing and music.

IF you could design any cake to have made--what would you do? Not sure on the budget at the moment.

Thanks

I guess it depends on his taste. I like a more subtle incorporation of a theme into cake design rather than a literal "this is a cake with a picture of Rock'n Roller Coaster, musical notes, a drafting table and a pencil on top" kind of theme, if that makes sense. So I guess I'd suggest picking one of these ideas and running with that. For example, asking for a piano key design encircling the sides of the cake or doing one with the giant guitar from Rock'n Roller Coaster in fondant (pricey) or screen-printed on white chocolate (cheap) on top. Something like that...

From what I was told the "small" $100+ castle can go on a cake as small as a 6", since this is often the size of the top tier on a multi tier wedding cake. Still, it's a lot of $ for some molded white chocolate. I was actually considering dropping $165 for the sandcastle version of this topper until a few moments of clarity pushed me to change plans. :thumbsup2

I have ordered a mini cake as a surprise for my DH. We will be there next week to celebrate our 16th anniversary and we are staying at Pop Century so I wasn't sure how easy this would be. I called the cake hotline and followed all of the prompts. I was connected to Janet at Pop Century. She was amazing to work with! I started to tell her what I wanted and that I had a picture of what I wanted replicated in a mini wedding cake. She instantly told me just to email her the picture and she would send it to the pastry chef to verify they could do it. In the email I explained everything I wanted, including flavors, and about three hours later Janet called back to say they could do everything I asked for! :yay: They are even delivering it to our room while we are out at the parks. I know some people wondered if they would do this at the value resorts.....so I guess the answer would be yes!:thumbsup2

I hope it turns out the way I hope. I will try to post pictures once we get back.;)

Has any one had a chocolate Stitch figure done and if so is there some where I can find a picture thinking of ordering one for my son

Ok- I read this the other night and have been thinking 'what would I like to do." Hey- it keeps me from having to sculpt gumpaste Dora the Explorer  OK...architect immediately makes me think blueprint. Now maybe it's a bit too literal, but what if the cake were covered in blue fondant and it were decorated to look like a blue print for RnR, but what would make it pop...if some of the rollercoaster aspects detailed in that blue print were to be done in 3D form in gumpaste/fondant and sort of spring up from the ideas portrayed in the blueprint on the cake.

I really like this idea! Thank you. I will run with it once he decides where he wants to eat.

I ordered this one from the Grand Floridian. It cost $35 plus tax.
