I see a pink bow on your original pic...they totally got it wrong...but I guess that is what they were going for???
The flowers were awesome...just delete the side angle pic lol

I think the bow was an attempt to hide the fact that they used a standard cake & just stuck the flowers in it. It was a great tasting cake though and the flowers were incredible.

Thank you (both, LurkyLoo - you too!) I tried calling the resort direct and that CM sent me back to the disneymagicalcakes hotline. Then I googled the email for the Contemporary resorts cakes - I've sent an email there and hopefully it will be answered or directed to Chef Donald and NOT back to the main cakes hotline. Fingers crossed... I'm okay paying $50 for a special design, but I don't want to pay $35 for a cookie cutter design everyone gets. Beautiful cake by the way - that would be a perfect Frozen design with a little marzipan snowman on top!

I was going to request a bday cake "frozen" theme an send this photo to Pat at the GF as an idea for theme. DD will be turning 7 and she's doing the ELsa dress and BBB that a.m. Great minds think alike.

I ordered a cake for my DD's 16th to be delivered to the Hoop Dee Doo. The CM at the will call window didn't know anything about it, so I had a moment of panic, but when we were seated by a manager, I asked him about it & he said it was ready to be brought out. What a relief!!
It was a marble cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. The cake itself was really good, but the frosting was WAY too sweet -and I love frosting! I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but the decoration was perfect!!

Cake ordered :)

I called the cake hotline again and got straight through this time. I've asked for maroon coloured mini wedding cake with ToT logo and happy 3rd anniversary writing. Yellow cake with Peanut Butter Mousse. I said Chef Donald quoted $50. It will be delivered to the room on 3 December. The Lady said I could give card details over the phone or charge it to the room. Will report back with the obligatory pictures :)

Can someone tell me how much will be added on? Is it plus tax and tip to be delivered to the room?

Yes, there's 6.5% tax, an automatic 18% gratuity, and tax on the gratuity. :faint:

Has anyone had any problems ordering a 2-tiered mini cake from Contemporary? I sent an email requesting a cake with purple buttercream with simple yellow flowers and a little yellow swirl design. Something really simple. I received an email stating they cannot create the design. Any thoughts?

What email did you use? If the email address didn't have the word contemporary in it you were probably emailing the main hotline and they seem stuck to the notion that it's the Mickey dot design and topper and nothing else. But if you email the contemporary email directly you should get a more accommodating response. If it was that email than perhaps the design was too complicated apparently the mini cakes are really tiny and you can't do a lot of decorating on them.

They appear to have some licensing issues with a lot of characters including Frozen so expect you can do their colors and a snow scape but no characters. I was hoping he'd do the snowman guy (Olaf?) on top but no can do...

Yes but not in the box - you will have to take it out of the box - actually all the boxes are too big for the resort refrigs

I used the right email address and heard back from Heather. When I say simple, it's simple. Some yellow roses on top (I think 3) and two little half swirls on the side. I used a picture from one posted on here. I emailed her back and asked if she can do a basic swiss dot design instead. She never stated why they can't do it but did suggest a fondant covered, two-tier cake with a plastic Rapunzel stuck in the top.

I ordered a two tier mini from there in late July. It was buttercream with a white chocolate screen print 2D Stitch on top but still fairly simple. I posted it previously on the thread.

I've never ordered a cake before at Disney, so I have been going through all the Cake Chatter threads. Wow, lots of posts there.

I am going to WDW in January for me "turning 20 twice birthday" and would love to order a cake at most likely 1900 Park Fare, our first night there, since I realize we probably wouldn't eat it all (even though there are 10 of us) at our dinner that night due to all the other food. So my thoughts are to take it back to the rental house, what is left, and eat during our length of stay. I had thought about doing this on our last night, my official birthday but didn't want to travel two days back to Texas with that cake, LOL

Anyway, I have looked through the threads for pictures of an 8 or 10 inch cake with an edible image of Minnie on it and haven't had any luck.
I have found Minnie with Mickey and Minnie with Daisy, but not Minnie by herself.

Has anyone had one like this made and have a picture they could share? Or know of one on the site I may be overlooking.

Thank you!

I'm hoping someone can clarify the cake ordering process for me. I'm a bit confused because it seems to have changed since the last time I ordered a cake (over a year ago). Finally spoke to Chef Donald (via email) and he explained why I can't order a mini 2-tiered cake. He suggested a 6-inch instead which is fine. Actually I'm ordering 2 6-inch cakes, one for CRT and one for BOG. I thought I would be placing the order through the Contemporary but he told me I will be hearing from the Magic Kingdom cake people since my order will be for their restaurants. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks as always for the help!

I can't recall one recently, but you can also send in a photo or ask them to send you jpgs of the images they use - they have a ton! :thumbsup2

Yes, they're trying to take some of the burden off the Contemporary by having people order from the Magic Kingdom directly. Then, if the request is too specialized for the MK, the Contemporary steps in, but you still place the order with the MK after speaking to someone at the Contemporary. Kind of like how Wilderness Lodge cakes work. :thumbsup2

Thank you I will call and see if they can send me pics :)

not true. the 10 inch cake(in the box) we ordered from the Contemporary on Sunday DID fit in our fridge at AoA. (of course I had to take other things out, and lower the top shelf, but it DID fit...)

The cake we ordered was amazing. I will post pics as soon as I can. The cake was beautiful and looked wonderful. Skyline of Radiator Springs along the sides of the cake with a 'rock' border, a chocolate fence around the top edge with the field scene, and haystacks. (I provided the Mattel figures of Frank, tipping tractors, lighning and Mater)

We were not disappointed with the look of the cake.
Inside, however, was NOT what we ordered. I even have the copy of the order form, that shows what I ordered, but when I pointed it out to our server....she said, well, it's still edible. Yes, it is, but the filling was not what we ordered.

My husband about fainted when he saw the 18% gratuity ($32.00) added onto the cost of the cake---in addition to the 18% gratuity added to our dinner.

All told it was $150 for a cake that looked wonderful, but was a filling that was not what we ordered, and when I asked what it WAS filled with.. the server left to check, and came back and said she didn't know.

The server was very rude to say it's still edible!!! You obviously expect to get what you order, not just something edible!
