I'd take a chance on the Contemporary. :thumbsup2[/QUOTE]

Thanks! I think I will do that. Don't get me wrong, AKL did a really nice job on his cake last year. Just looking for something different!

I thinking of ordering a cake for our May trip. It is for our 11th wedding anniversary. Any thoughts on what it should look like? I think I may order it for the beginning of the week so we can eat on it all week. Any suggestions or pics will b helpful. We r staying at the yacht club and I think I will have it delivered to our room. Thanks everyone!!!

I've had many cakes at The Yachtsman Steakhouse done by the pastry chefs at Yacht & Beach and I've never had one that was not delicious and I have been very satisfied with each and every one.

Thanks for that, makes me feel a little better.

Good evening all!

I'd like to order a birthday cake during our upcoming December visit. We are celebrating our son's third birthday (my birthday too but the cake is for him! :) ) I am trying to determine the best way to go about it. There will only be four of us. I would like to have a pirate theme on a smaller cake (or a pirate Mickey even.) I'd like to keep it under $50 if possible. I'm thinking of having it for our dinner at Akershus since my son will be in his pirate outfit that evening from Pirates League. Otherwise, we also have a dinner at Boma the night before, or we could have it delivered to AKL where we are staying. I've been looking through the FAQs and such, but I am just curious if anyone may know what our best option would be. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks. :)

I had two cakes made in September by YC/BC - one was a cake for my 30th birthday with Donald Duck, Three caballeros and Gran Fiesta theme. The second was for our sixth wedding anniversary with Mickey and Minnie. Both were beautiful and both tasted yummy! I posted photos several pages back in this thread, but I highly recommend YC/BC for cakes!

We had a sixth anniversary cake made at YC/BC for us in September. I posted photos several pages back. We went with a Mickey & Minnie theme.

You could go with any Disney couple really - Daisy and Donald would be really cute!

Here in the our Tinkerbell's Garden Mini-cake that was delivered to AOA on November 25. I had requested a mini-cake similar to the cupcake. My daughter loved it! We ate it for breakfast the next morning and it tasted fresh.

YOU designed this cake?

We used your cake photo with the snow flake designs and THIS is the cake picture they sent us that they can make for our FROZEN themed cake.

The lady says she will incorporate this cake and the snow flake cake. 6 inch cake for 120.00

Yes! I mean, we cobbled it together in Photoshop from elements we found online, at least... this is my husband's Photoshop rendering:

Having it delivered to your room would be the most convenient, but AKL's cakes are hit-or-miss in the looks department. However, Epcot may not let you customize anything smaller than a 10-inch cake, so then you'd have to go with AKL if you wanted a smaller one. But check with Epcot - sometimes these things change....

Adorable! I like it better than the original cupcake!

Ok so we got our cake tonight and it was perfect!!!! So beautiful and delicious and moist. Except it said "happy birthday Donna" no clue who that is ROFL. It was supposed to say "happy holidays ourlastname". Also they quoted me $80 and our dining bill said 8" cake $35?? Is it possible they charged my credit card I called to reserve the cake???

I'll post pics when we get home. But if you're thinking of Yacht club I def recommend it. The cake was outstanding and gorgeous!!

Love it! How much did this cost? Did you order it from GF? Thanks!

It sounds like they mixed up the cakes. You got Donna's cake & they probably got yours. Was your cake decorated as you requested? The price difference makes me think you received the wrong cake.

Got the decorations right, Lady and the Tramp with red fondant, snowflakes, white cake with dark chocolate mousse. I told the waiter it had the wrong banner but everything else was right.

So I decided that the 3rd time is the charm and decided to order another special cake for our trip next week. We are staying AOA lion king suite so I ordered for YC (just did not want to chance CR bakery again) to be delivered to our room. There prices seem much higher than CR so I am hopeful to get a much better cake than our last 2 trips. I ordered 6 inch van/van buttercream filled, scuba diving themed for my DD. She just got her diving license so she is scheduled to dive the living seas at epcot this trip. YC has been great, they emailed me pics of another cake they did with this theme and the price quoted is $98. Will let y'all know Sunday night what the cake is like.

This is our 2 year wedding anniversary cake. It was huge!!!! 8 inches, dark chocolate mousse inside, white cake, vanilla butter cream. Cost: $95.00. It was served at Narccoossee's at the Grand Floridian on 11/10/13:

I'm looking to order a cake for 10 of us at Kona Cafe after a dinner we are having there next week. We're celebrating my parents 45th anniversary. I don't need anything fancy and don't want to have leftovers b/c we are all leaving the next morning. I'm thinking of an 8" cake, marble center with chocolate ganache filling and chocolate whipped cream icing.

Can anyone tell me if they can make the whipped cream chocolate flavored?? I find the buttercream to be so sweet and heavy and my kids hate the taste of the fondant cakes.

Also, can they write on the whipped cream icing cakes? Or would it have to be written on the plate?

Would some sort of Mickey&Minnie figure be available? Would love any help as cake design is totally not my thing!!

Thank you!!

Can't wait to see the photos! And, I must say, that I LOVE how cool you are about the cake saying 'Happy Birthday Donna'! It's refreshing to hear someone find the humor in the error and not all 'it ruined my vacation' :cool1:

Wonder what Donna's response was? Karen :dance3:

Maybe the waiter/manager lowered the price because of the mistake?

They will try to talk you into a 10-inch cake for a group that large, so you may have to insist. I don't think chocolate whipped cream will be a problem, and what they may do for the writing is put it on a piece of white chocolate atop the cake.

There is a small white chocolate figure of Mickey & Minnie you can request that costs about $15.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! I just called and they gave me the option of 8 or 10 inch so I went with 8. Chocolate whipped cream is not an option so I went with chocolate ckae w/ chocolate mouse and whipped cream frosting. They said they could write on that. I totally forgot to ask about Minnie and Mickey, but I really don't want something edible, so we'll just forgo it. My parents will be thrilled anyway :)
