If we have a mini cake delivered from CR to HDDR, is there a delivery fee? Do you tip the person and, if so, how do you go about doing that?

I've seen others list the mini castle cakes for about $30, but I didn't know if that was the final cost or if there are fees/tips on top of that. Thanks!

There is no delivery fee and no way to tip the person who delivers it or makes it. The price of the cake is added to your meal, and you tip your server.

We celebrated DD's 6th birthday at WDW recently. I ordered the Princess Package from CRT, and chose the Cinderella cake. It was really gorgeous. And good too! There was also a princess balloon (with all the princesses, the purple one like they sell on Main Street), confetti on the table, a signed card and a really nice tiara presented by one of the servers on a velvet pillow. We had a small group of servers come over and sing Happy Birthday and light the candle for DD to blow out. They cut the cake for us, and offered to box it up to go, but we didn't want to deal with it. Total cost was $112, which included gratuity. I did use my Tables in Wonderland card on the meal, and they applied the credit to the cake. Something about since the package includes merchandise, they couldn't do TiW on it. It was still totally worth it!

This was a Winnie the Pooh cake we ordered for my Aunt's birthday, delievered to Rose & Crown. It was vanilla with a sort of almost banana custard lining...I don't really know what it was, but it was delish! It was $32 and we did use TiW on the whole dinner check.

I thought you couldn't get winnie the pooh characters on cakes. My daughter loves eyeore and son is a huge tigger nut, would be cool to be able to order something for them.

:headache: I can't decide if I want a mini cake with castle for $30 or if I should do the 8-inch for $45. What's the difference in delivery fees? There are only 3 of us, and we are more interested in the "WOW" factor than the amount of cake. HELP!!!!!

I'm in the same boat. Now I'm thinking 2 cakes! 1 for park fare a cinderella type probably a mini cake for V and I which would be more than enough, and then a minnie cake for Chef Mickey, for myself, V and her parents. hmmmmm

I have ordered several cakes from the GF bakery, and have been very pleased. My question is this: does the Contemporary bakery do as good of a job? Do the cakes from there taste as good as the ones from the GF bakery?...I'm ordering a graduation cake for my son at Crystal Palace and a birthday cake for my other son at O'hana. Am I understanding
correctly that I can get fondant
cakes at these places now? In the past, you had to be a guest at the GF, or be dining at one of their restaurants. They deliver to the poly now?

Yes.

All the Disney resort cakes taste the same because all the bakeries use the same recipes.

The GF delivers to the Polynesian; the Contemporary delivers to the Magic Kingdom. There is no delivery fee. You must place the orders with Private Dining at the GF and the Contemporary if you want fancy cakes.

Yes.

Thanks so much for the quick reply! Now, I just need to figure out what I want to order.

I thought that as well, and even said something like, "You can't do Winnie the Pooh characters, right?" But, the guy on the cake hotline said no problem. Cake had Pooh and Piglet on it. Sorry about the size of the pictures. No idea why they are like that, but I can't seem to get them any bigger.

Seems like a classic example of the old "Disney right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing"... If the ban on Pooh characters is only enforced by the cast members who know about it, I guess the best policy is just to ask and see if the one you're talking to will allow them! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone. :wave2: We returned home from a wonderful 8-day trip about a week ago and since this was my first time ordering a cake, I figured I should share my experience and pics!

This was a DH and I trip to celebrate his 29th birthday, Valentine's Day and just have a fun trip to Disney in general. :woohoo:

The original plan was to get a bigger (6 or 8 inch round) fancy cake and have it delivered to us at our hotel (the Boardwalk Villas). After tossing the idea around a bit, I decided it would be way too much cake for just two of us and decided to go with a mini-cake.

I e-mailed back and forth with the Chefs over at the Boardwalk Bakery to figure out what I wanted and if it would be possible and put in my cake order with Private Dining on February 6th for our February 10th arrival.

The plan was to have it delivered to our room before we arrived, but since we got in about 30 minutes sooner than expected, it hadn't arrived yet. No sweat! We headed out to the parks and when we got back, it was waiting with silverware on our table.

Cake Details
Place: Boardwalk Bakery
Type: Two-Tier Mini-Cake
Flavors: Red Velvet Cake, Cream Cheese Filling, Vanilla Buttercream Icing
Extras: Fondant Polka Dots, Stripes, Solid Chocolate Mickey-Ears Topper
Cost: $36 + 18% gratuity for delivery

Here is the sketched out design I sent over to them (sorry about the quality, I took a shot of my computer screen because I threw out the original!)

I went with a Mickey-inspired color scheme that wasn't over the top, since my Husband isn't a huge fan of any particular character.

This is what the cake looked like when it arrived.

It was adorable and exactly what I asked for. I was so happy they were able to fit his name on those tiny little ears, but even if they hadn't, I still would have been happy with the result.

We cut the cake and dug in.

The cake was so moist, the amount of icing was awesome (I love icing and there was a lot!) and in general it made for a really sweet ending to our first night in Disney World.

I wouldn't hesitate to order a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery again and hope I can come up with a convincing reason to do it on my next trip. :thumbsup2

Fantastic! I'm so glad you were able to get exactly what you wanted. But now you're making me hungry for a red velvet mini cake from BoardWalk Bakery... :headache: :rotfl:

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million and 1 times but the search feature isn't wanting to cooperate for me. :headache:

How many does the two tier mini cake feed? And would it be at all possible to do a Muppets themed one?

TIA!

For us, the two-tier mini cake was enough for the two of us (adults). For a size reference, the mickey-ears cake topper on my cake was probably only the size of a half-dollar...maybe even a little smaller.

If you are just looking for a bite or two of the cake, or if you aren't very into sweets, you may be able to get a piece for two adults and a child out of it, but probably not more than that. For DH and I, it was the perfect size. Satisfying without being such a big piece we felt the need to throw any out.

It was so good and I'm glad I saw your mini-cake post before ordering. When I called Private Dining and e-mailed with the Boardwalk Bakery, red velvet wasn't an option they gave me for flavors. Once I requested it though, they said it wouldn't be a problem and seeing Erik's face when he realized it was red velvet instead of your standard chocolate was hilarious. It's not a cake flavor we get often when we're home, so he was thrilled.

Thank you! I was hoping it was it was only 2 adults! I'm planning on getting DD a bigger cake for her b-day, but wanted to get one for DH one for his graduation, but was worried about having too much leftovers!

I'm starting to toy with the idea of getting a cake for my November vacation to celebrate my birthday and my boyfriend's birthday (we're both 30 this year) and if I do I want something small that we can split and not have much (if anything) left over. This looks like the prefect size!

I think it's perfect!

Anything larger and you would surely have enough leftovers to eat for at least a few days. And the impression I got from Carrie is that the cake to icing ratio on the mini-cakes is better for people who like icing (and we do!) I can't vouch for that since I've only had this one cake, but for the price it was a nice surprise without having to feel bad about spending $75-$100 on a cake that we'd toss 1/2 of anyway.

My husband is retiring this year and we are going to celebrate at DW. We plan on having a special dinner at California Grill. :woohoo:

My husband thinks there will be four of us at dinner. But, what he does not know is that there will be ten of us. I would like to order a special cake for our celebration, any suggestions for our suprise dinner dessert?

I just ordered a mini castle cake to be delivered to HDDR for my daughter's birthday. I wasn't going to order until next week, but since I'm home today with a sick kid, I decided to go for it. I am so excited!:banana::banana:

I just ordered a test track themed cake for my twin boys 6th birthday. Its going to be an 8 inch fondant cake with test track theming. They are making 3 hand made test track cars to go on it. It's to be delivered to our room at BC on 3/2 so I'm crossing my fingers that it comes out ok. I will post pics as soon as we get back from our trip.

Hey everyone i would like to post my birthday cake but it says that i need to have 10 post count or greater lol...
