Hi everyone.

We returned home from a wonderful 8-day trip about a week ago and since this was my first time ordering a cake, I figured I should share my experience and pics!
This was a DH and I trip to celebrate his 29th birthday, Valentine's Day and just have a fun trip to Disney in general.
The original plan was to get a bigger (6 or 8 inch round) fancy cake and have it delivered to us at our hotel (the Boardwalk Villas). After tossing the idea around a bit, I decided it would be way too much cake for just two of us and decided to go with a mini-cake.
I e-mailed back and forth with the Chefs over at the Boardwalk Bakery to figure out what I wanted and if it would be possible and put in my cake order with Private Dining on February 6th for our February 10th arrival.
The plan was to have it delivered to our room before we arrived, but since we got in about 30 minutes sooner than expected, it hadn't arrived yet. No sweat! We headed out to the parks and when we got back, it was waiting with silverware on our table.

Here is the sketched out design I sent over to them (sorry about the quality, I took a shot of my computer screen because I threw out the original!)
I went with a Mickey-inspired color scheme that wasn't over the top, since my Husband isn't a huge fan of any particular character.
This is what the cake looked like when it arrived.
It was adorable and exactly what I asked for. I was so happy they were able to fit his name on those tiny little ears, but even if they hadn't, I still would have been happy with the result.
We cut the cake and dug in.
The cake was so moist, the amount of icing was awesome (I love icing and there was a lot!) and in general it made for a really sweet ending to our first night in Disney World.
I wouldn't hesitate to order a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery again and hope I can come up with a convincing reason to do it on my next trip.
