My advice would be that if you have a definite idea in mind, be VERY specific about what you want. If you can send a photo or a sketch, even better. If you want to give the chef free reign but are particular about a few things (like no 2-D images on white chocolate) be sure to mention it.

Definitely ask about funfetti—the chef can tell you what's possible. I got chocolate chips in our cake, so maybe it'd be a similar thing.

Thanks lurkyloo! I'm going to call later today after work.

I want a 6in. choc cake with white buttercream frosting, with a pink, yellow, green and blue rose on it. I have the little 3 in. plastic princesses, that I want to put by each rose. Is this going to be possible. How much you think that would cost? Want it after dinner at CRT.

I ordered a cake for my Dad's first disney trip. I had it delivered to California Grill the night of 10/16/11, made by Chef Brian.

I emailed him asking for a 6" chocolate cake, with blue tinted buttercreme on the outside. All I said was make it Mickey/Music themed, as my dad is a saxophonist. I was very pleased with the results, and my dad LOVED it!! It was chocolate sponge with dark chocolate mousse. The cost was $75. People were commenting on the cake from across the restaurant, and kept coming up to us afterwards. It was pretty neat. Thank you Chef Brian!! :goodvibes And more importantly, thank you LURKYLOO for your constant knowledge and patience!! :worship:

(The clefs were all chocolate, and so were the mickey heads, and the saxophone was painted chocolate as well. You can tell by Dad's face how surprised & pleased he was !)

The Saxophone lifted a bit here, but you get the idea)

The delicious filling

Dad playing his Sax! LOL

One more shot !

We were VERY Pleased, and I would order again in a heartbeat!! There was still too much cake for the three of us, so we had it boxed and gave it to the waitstaff...they were happy .

This will be my first post after lurking for years. Looking at pictures of cakes has helped me with my weight loss journey. Just looking at all these beautiful cakes was enough and it made me feel the opposite of deprived.
Thanks for all the cake postings.

Yes, it is possible. With that little decoration, you could be quoted as low as $50 or $60, but you'd need to talk to the Contemporary Resort's Chef Brian (through private dining) to get a customized quote. Call 407-824-2955 to get his email address.

Yay! I'm so glad it worked out for you and your dad loved his cake.

Unfortunately, this thread has the opposite effect on me—it makes me EAT cake! :rotfl2:

After following this board for a year, I was all set to work with Chef Brian for a custom cake at CRT for my dd's birthday. We leave in 8 days - WOO HOO - so I called last week to order. In doing so, I found out about a new "Princess Package" available at CRT. You get a big princess balloon and pixie dust on your table, your princess is presented with a royal tiara before dinner is served, and then they get a fondant covered princess cake at the end of dinner. I decided to go with this option - the more attention given to my princess on her special day the better! princess: I chose a vanilla cake with Ariel on top. I will let you know how it is when we get back!

I just heard from someone who said Disneyland was only offering them very basic cakes (despite the fact that they make elaborate wedding cakes for Disney weddings there), so you'd need to speak with them to find out. Alternatively, I'd suggest finding an independent bakery in Anaheim that would deliver to your hotel.

Thanks for the info! I got a hold of the pastry chef and ordered my cake exactly like I described and even emailed a sketch I drew up. With tax it is costing me $130. I will get it on the 1st of December. I will post pictures. I cant decide what flavor to get though. I want something unique and exotic. Thoughts anyone?

Would you mind sharing about the cost of the Princess Package at CRT? We will be celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday at CRT and this package sounds very promising! Thanks!

Great cake for a great price. You did well. I'm sure your dad was thrilled with his surprise. :)

Can't wait to hear about the princess package. This sound like something I would like. The only thing, is I don't need another tiara. Price please.

When is the best time to call? Day of the week that is.

I don't think it matters, since private dining is open 7 days a week—there will always be someone there. Now I do think that if you want to speak with a pastry chef it's better to call in the morning, since it seems like most bakers start work very early.

Here's the info on the Cinderella's Royal Table Princess Package:

Price: $90 plus tax and gratuity ($112.05 total)

What's Included:
  • Pixie dust on the table
  • Princess balloon (choice of Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Aurora, Belle or Jasmine)
  • Fancy, fondant-covered vanilla or chocolate cake featuring Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Tiana, or Ariel (6-inch cake, feeds 5–7, according to Disney)
  • Name on the cake
  • Barrette-style crystal tiara (full-size tiara available for an additional $17 + tax and gratuity)

Rules:
  • Theme park admission required
  • CRT reservation required
  • Princesses will visit table but cannot present the package/cake
  • CRT will not store your cake after you get it
  • You can swap the 6-inch cake for an 8-inch (+ $15) or a 10-inch (+ $40); just know that Disney underestimates the number of guests their cakes can serve. A 6-inch may serve as many as 10 if you cut the pieces smaller.

How to Order: Email wdw.crt.special.events@disney.com or call 407-824-4477

They will send you a 4-page PDF with info about the package. Here are the pages with the photos on them...

How big is that cake. There is only 4 adults and 1, 4 year old. That looks like a huge cake. The skirt is cake and so is the round cake. A lot of cake. How many people does it feed?

That is the case everywhere on property: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/order-cake/by-location/

BoardWalk Bakery services most of the resorts that don't have their own bakeries, but you can't call them directly to get a cake delivered to your resort. You have to work through your resort.

Help! My dd is having trouble getting through to Chef Brian, she needs to order my DGD's cake for her 3 third b-day at CM's for the 9th of Dec. Any advice would be a great help. Thanks

Does this package have to be for a birthday? We're taking my 3 year old for her first trip there, can I do this for her? Could the banner say something like Caitlyn's First Trip or something similar? This would be very cute for her, and I know she'd love it. Of course, that would be ALOT of cake for my DH, DD and myself.

In the 2nd picture where it says "Package Inclusions" in the middle column it states:

"Personalized with the Guest of Honors name"

The "Happy Birthday Princess" banner is just to show the guest what the banner would look like.
