Official DISNEY Cake Chatter Thread - Part II

We were at Disney last week and I ordered a cake for our dinner at WCC. I called Friday, Nov. 11 in the morning (around 9:30 CST) and left a voicemail and a lady (I believe her name was Caroline) called me back around 1:00. I told her what I'd like and the only problem was she said they couldn't put mickey and tinkerbell on the cake together due to legal reasons, but they would present the white chocolate tink figurine on a plate by herself. She quoted me $85 for both the cake and Tink.

The cake was chocolate with chocolate buttercream and chocolate mousse filling. It was soooooooooo moist and yummy! The treasure chest was made out of dark chocolate. And the pink frosting was strawberry - much to my delight!

The staff at WCC did such an awesome job presenting this to the kiddos. They were told to keep their eyes closed for a special surprise (my kids were like "whaaaaaaat?") and he did a countdown as our server brought the two cakes over. My daughter was over-the-moon when she opened her eyes and saw Tink in front of her!!

Can anyone tell me the cost of one of those mini two-tiered (not the one with the white chocolate castle) wedding cakes? Also do you know if you can get it in red velvet. Will be ordering from the Boardwalk Bakery. Thanks.

I also wanted to know if you are charged a gratuity if you are picking it up yourself?

Lurkyloo, my dd needs advice on ordering her dd's b-day cake from chef Brian, has called cake line and left messages, and still waiting ( several days now) no contact. Any suggestions please. Thanks

Thanks Lurcky Loo, it has been a long day. I am sure i read it, it just did not register.

I probably should have organized the info differently to make it more readable—it's a lot to wade through! :)

Can you take this package for two little girls? I know that my DD8 and DN7 would like this.. It's just lovely!! princess:
Thank you in advance for your help!! :santa:

You could call/email and ask them about the cost of adding a second tiara and balloon to the package. :thumbsup2

Price: Usually $25-$35; depends on decorations and where you get it

Flavor: You'd need to ask the BoardWalk Bakery directly. Red velvet is not a standard offering there, but they may be able to do it for you.

Gratuity: This is only charged when you have the cake delivered to your room/restaurant table.

Has she called Private Dining at the Contemporary directly? 407-824-2955 The way it works is, you talk to PD, they give you Chef Brian's email address, you send him what you want, he emails you back, and then you place the order by calling PD again. It could be that things are wonky cuz of the holiday crowds, bu she still has time—you can order up to 48 hours in advance.

Thanks lurkyloo, my dd did call pd they never offered chef Brian e- mail, just took her order and said they would get in touch with her if needed. Does that sound right to you? Did my dd need to ask for chef Brian e-mail when she called?

I have followed this thread for months, but this is my first post. We are celebrating my son's birthday at Chef Mickeys and I would like to order the Jedi Mickey cake. I understand Jedi Mickey is not available from the Contemporary Bakery. Has anyone had a cake delivered from the Beach Club to Chef Mickeys? AKL IPO have advised me that they can arrange this but I thought this was not possible? Thanks

You only need to speak with Chef Brian if you're trying to do something fancy or creative or unusual. If you want a standard cake, you can just place your order with whomever answers the phone. If your daughter is worried about them getting the order right, she can call back and specifically ask for the Chef's email address. :thumbsup2

I wouldn't think anyone has ever done this because the Contemporary has a perfectly good bakery on site and any cake order made through the Cake Hotline would come from there. That said, if AKL's IPO says they can arrange it and it's what you want, go for it!

Thanks for posting the info, lurkyloo! I am in crazed Thanksgiving prep/Disney prep and packing mode. I haven't been back to see that questions about the package were out there!

For those looking at the Princess Package at CRT, I dealt with Kristin in Special Events. She was soooo nice and helpful. I am very excited for dd's bday on Monday, seeing all of the special things for her at dinner!!! :cloud9:

I ordered a mini-wedding cake to be picked up from the Boardwalk Bakery on December 6th. I have no idea what I'm getting , I'm half-joking as that phone call wasn't very clear. It will be "Christmas-themed" (I said mini-poinsettias, if possible, but I don't think she picked up on that) and hopefully will have "One Magical Year" written on it. She never asked my budget, just said that mini-wedding cakes start at $25. I wonder if I should call back and say I'm willing to spend $45-$50...:scratchin

I wanted chocolate cake with peanut butter cup mousse, but they don't offer that on mini-wedding cakes (I knew they didn't on paper, but I knew other people had been successful at getting different flavors for mini-wedding cakes). Anyways, it will be chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Can't wait! :yay:

Hi guys!:goodvibes

We just returned last night from our daughters birthday trip and I wanted to post pictures as well as praise for the GF bakery on the lovely job they did on Lilas cake.

Initially I was worried, as my conversation with pat was quite brief. She told me they would not be able to do what I requested since it was a busy time of year and in order for me to have a pillow shaped cake they would need to shape it and their just wasnt the time for that. She assured me they would add tassels to make it look like a pillow, but I was still concerned imagining a square cake with tassels.:confused3 The cake I liked and described was based off of this one :

The cake that we got was this:

So I was very very pleased with the way it turned out!

We chose the strawberry filling and the whole cake was great. The cake itself was moist, the filling and icing was delicious as well. We paid $105 for the cake and considering the concerns I had, we were all very happy and felt like it was well worth it!:wizard:

looks like a delicious pillow to me. i can see that your little girl really loved it, but boy is it pricey!

Ordered a fancy fondant cake from Chef Brian to be delivered to our room at Bay Lake and we are wondering if we should tip when they deliver cake to our room???? Also, is there tax on a cake? TY!!

Because the cake is delivered by private dining, they will automatically add a gratuity. The private dining slips always have a line where you can add an extra tip if you want, but you're already paying one. Anytime I've had a cake delivered by room service, I've also been charged tax.

Just wanted to share our cakes from our big wedding & honeymoon! All cakes were made by the Grand Floridian bakery. :)

11/9/11 - Kona Cafe - Star Wars themed groom's cake - $117 - Cake feeds 18

I called private dining and pretty much gave them free range of the theme. All I said was Star Wars and that it didn't matter what was on it. Paid $30 extra for decorations and another $30 for fondant. Completely worth it! Everyone, including the staff, loved it! I believe it was vanilla cake with chocolate filling. Delicious!

11/10/11 - Grand Floridian Convention Center - Cinderella themed wedding cake - Priceless ;) - Cake feeds 65

I asked for the theme, flavors, and colors but they added the extra touches on the back of the cake, scroll work, and stamps. Top layer was red velvet with cream cheese, middle was yellow cake with milk chocolate mousse, and bottom layer was lemon cake with raspberry mousse. Worth every penny; loved it!

11/11/11 - Grand Floridian Convention Center - Donald themed birthday cake - $140 - Feeds 50

This was a birthday cake for my husband. So I told them that Donald was his favorite character and to go with that. I was expecting a little bit more after that Star Wars cake but I did order this through my wedding planner so I'm sure that had something to do with it. Didn't pay extra for the white chocolate figure, however. Vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. Also yummy!

Ok, i think i am going to order the slipper at CRT so we don't have to worry bout carrying a cake around the park, and then will order a mini cake at Park Fare. I also want the solid pluto and solid tinkerbell and I saw on here someone had just a tinkerbell with chocolate shavings around it, can that be done at park fare and which number do I call to order it?

thanks!! :cool1:
