Official DISNEY Cake Chatter Thread - Part II

I'm sure it's a long shot, but does anyone have a photo of a cake with a Fort Wilderness theme? My parents are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and for their honeymoon they were at WDW for its very first Christmas and stayed at Fort Wilderness. We'd really like a cake to represent that. Thank you!

I'm pretty sure (about 98.4% sure) that you can't get specially decorated cakes at FWC and WL can do basic decorated cakes. You might want to decide on a place to eat and then see what they can offer.

You can get fancy, fondant-covered cakes at Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge by calling Private Dining at the Contemporary—see these three posts for complete details:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p= 40915586#post2413710

Maybe I have missed it somewhere in the thread but can anyone tell me if I can order a cake and pay for it ahead of time? We're making a visit soon that will be my daughter's first trip and also covers my wife's birthday so I'd like to surprise them both with a cake on our first night there at dinner. (Just don't want the wife to catch a whiff of the bill...my treat)

I just wanted to give a shout out to everyone here on this thread.
I ordered a "Fancy" cake from Pat (I think) at Grand Floridian to have at my Birthday Dinner at Ohana's April 28th.
It was AWESOME!!!

I chose a vanilla cake ( Only choice for cake flavor was vanilla or chocolate) with dark chocolate Mousse filling, then buttercream and Fondant for frosting.

As for the decorations, I initially said I would like Lilo and Stitch but then changed my mind and let Pat have creative freedom with the cake by saying I wanted bright and colorful, mickey heads, and "let's Celebrate" (we were celebrating 2 birthdays and an anniversary).

What we got was amazing!!! Red/orange fondant, white mickey heads, fondant yellow/orange balls around the bottom of the cake, yellow stars, white flowers, then orange ish flowers on top as well, Lets Celebrate in white chocolate....The cake was super moist, great filling and the buttercream was to die for :) I am still craving it now that we are home..

Once I figure out how to post pics I will, because I want to share Pat's work and the great job she did. I will definately be ordering a cake everytime we go from now on!!!

Oh it was an 8 inch round cake, price with tax was $89...Well worth it as we ate it for breakfast and late night snack for the next 4 days :)

Thanks again everyone!!!

Missy

Thank you for your help, but I think I was misunderstood. I would like a cake to be designed with the FW resort theming. We're eating at Chef Mickey's, so I know I can get a customized cake there. I'm sure it's a shot in the dark, but I just wanted to check if anyone had requested a similar cake before and had a photo.

If it isn't in the list on the first page of the thread, no one's posted one yet. However, if you Google "camping cake" for images, you get a ton of amazing cakes in the results. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to say thanks to Lurkyloo and post an update on our cake adventure. I needed a simple cake for my son's birthday and ordered this at the podium at Mama Melrose. It was just what we needed at a decent price and he was totally surprised! :goodvibes

This question has probably already been asked a lot, but I'm not going through 164 pages trying to find the answer. So I apologize in advance.

I ordered a cake a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't specify what flavor I wanted, i.e. white, chocolate, etc. What is the default flavor? I'm not picky, but I don't want to be surprised with something like cheesecake. I ordered the Mini Cinderella Castle cake if that helps. Thanks! :goodvibes

Well cheesecake is one of the three flavors that comes in, so I'd call back and specify a flavor if that's not what you want. I'm really surprised they didn't ask you which flavor you wanted when you ordered. The other two choices are vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse.

Ok, so decided on getting a "fancy" cake made for my daughter's first trip to WDW and my wife's birthday at our dinner at Ohana. I called the suggested number in the thread and got Pat's direct line at GF. I left a message and I assume she'll call me back? I'm nervous b/c I am anxious to get this finalized and rolling so it's one less thing I have to worry about.

Any experience on how quick Pat is to get back to you? Thanks!

I was thinking of surprising my DH & DS on our first night with a cake. We will be dining at Garden Grill, and I was thinking of having the Mickey head shaped cake delivered to us. Would that be possible? Has anyone ever tasted one of these made by the Epcot bakery? are they any good??

TIA!!:thumbsup2

I am ordering a cake to be delivered to Cape May for my son's 2nd birthday. Will Disney supply birthday candles or should I pack them? Thanks!

Do you know if this cake is exclusive to MM or if it is available at other restaurants? Was thinking about getting one for my Dad in July.

That is the same chocolate cake available at every single Disney restaurant podium except Victoria & Albert's. However, it appears that Mama Melrose customized it with whipped cream, sprinkles, and raspberries. Also, you should know that certain Epcot restaurants use whipped cream frosting on their cakes instead of the buttercream frosting in that picture. If that's a big deal to you, check out THIS POST for the list of what's served where.

Since when did they need a CC to book a slipper dessert? My fiance tried to order me one and they asked for a CC to book it at the end of the call but he doesn't have one so he wasn't able to get one for me. I thought you just paid for it at the end of the meal? That's what I did 2 years ago, but I guess things have changed? :confused3

Does anyone know if you are able to have a cake brought in to a hotel restaurant (1900 Park Fare) from an outside bakery? My friend who lives in Florida owns a pastry shop and does awesome cakes:cake:. I would love to give her my business, but am not sure if this is even allowed.:confused3 TIA

Not sure but I'd love to know the answer as well. And if you want to share your friend's business name that would be great too. Not sure if sharing that info is against DIS rules or not so you can PM the info if you don't mind.

Please and thank you. :goodvibes

I would be intrested in this also. We are doing GG on our first full day and Dh will be turning 40 the next month. So I was thinking of doing something a little special for him.
