I ordered a cake to be delivered to our BLT villa for my brother's birthday. I spoke with Carolyn at the Contemporary & she was very nice!! The cake will have the 2 old guys from the Muppets on it (I forget their names....Waldorf & Statler?). She said it will probably have them sitting in the balcony. I was thrilled because I didn't know if they had any Muppets characters! I was quoted $65 for the 8 inch chocolate cake. Can't wait to see it!!!

I can't wait to see a pic of this one!!!!

Ok, so I ordered a replica of my wedding cake (we had a Disney wedding) to be served at 1900 Park Fare this past Saturday.

This was my original cake

And this was what we got on Saturday

Fondant on the outside with piped on mickey heads in our wedding colors. A chocolate mickey/minnie topper and a banner for our anniversary. It was exact! I was so pleased with it.

this is the inside, it was Red velvet with cream cheese frosting.

It was delicious! I still have it at home now and I'm slowly getting through it, lol. I'm going to gain 5lbs just trying to finish it, lol.

Oh... I forgot the most important part, price!! it was $87. i used my tables in wonderland card and got 20% off and with tax and 18% gratuity it came out to $91

I have questions regarding a mini wedding for a birthday. I know it says the cakes feed 1-2? If we are 2 adults / 2 kids is there enough for us to all get a small piece???

Yes, but each piece will be very small. I'm going to post pix of one I got last week in just a minute here...

If eating at California Grill would I order it from the Contemporary?

Yes. You start by calling Private Dining. Then when you explain you want a fancy mini cake, they give you Chef Brian's email, you settle on the details with him, and then you call PD again to place the order.

Sharing this with the caker's!

Where: Narcoossee's @ Grand Floridian
Why: 1st Anniversary
When: May 8th, 2011
Cost: $100

Our wedding was themed around a "Tiffany Wedding", and as such, our wedding cake was a 3 (or 4?) tiered, Tiffany Blue cake styled like Tiffany boxes stacked on top of each other. For our anniversary dinner, I wanted to surprise her with a cake "top" styled like our wedding cake. So I called Private dining at the GF, and once they confirmed they had a small square shaped pan, it was done. They brought it out in lieu of our dessert menu, after I almost blew the surprise when the waitress said, "Let me bring out the dessert menu's." I looked up at her and she just nodded and we were good. My wife was very surprised (just the last of a series of surprises that day, LOL!). Even more so as the "free" wedding cake (instead of freezing it they offered us a free one a year later) was nothing like our wedding cake. So I scored on that one as well, LOL!

Tiffany Box Cake with Bow

What: Two-tier Lily Pulitzer-inspired mini cake based on a photo found online

Flavors: Vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse and buttercream frosting

Location: Contemporary Resort

Date: 5/13/11

Price: $35 (Total was about $46 with tax and room service charge - ouch!)

We got back to our room later than I'd planned, so one of the buttercream flowers on the cake had collapsed from sitting out too long. However, it was still an adorable cake! We were too full to eat it, so we stuck it in the fridge to eat the following night, and it was just as fabulous—moist and delicious!

Here are a bazillion shots to give you an idea of the size and show the detail:

I just have a quick question. With so many pages to go through on this thread, I apologize if this was asked before. I have been seeing the designs Cakeman Brian has done, and really liked what I see. I have ordered cakes from the GF before, but not custom ones. I am going to order a custom cake for a reservation we will have at 1900 PF. Is it possible for Cakeman Brian to make it, or do I have to use the GF private dining? Thanks.

No, Brian works at the Contemporary, so you can only get one of his cakes at restaurants serviced by the Contemporary Bakery. However, the Grand Floridian has a huge team of talented pastry chefs and makes cakes for almost all the weddings on property, so you will be in good hands when you call Private Dining there.

Here is the cake I ordered from the Contemporary! I ordered it for my daughter's 6th birthday at CRT. She LOVED it. Everyone was oohing and ahhing over it. The server said it was the fanciest cake he'd had all day, lol. My daughter LOVED that Ariel was gushing over it.

Price: $77
Date Received:May 10
Location: Cinderella's Royal Table
Cake info - Flavors, special requests, etc: 8" white cake with caramel butter cream
Anything else special about that particular cake: All I wanted was for it to be a purple and pink Daisy Duck cake. Chef Brian was free to take whatever artistic liberties he wanted.

We loved it. I added the tall candles in the back. It was good. The butter cream was a little creamier than I'm used to but that's okay. Nice and moist. We took it back to our room and ate on it for two days.

Will CRT hold a cake for you? We have a lunch reservation but I don't want to walk around with left over cake the rest of the day.

No. They cannot hold it for health reasons. Once they take it out of their kitchen and deliver it to you they cannot hold it.

I LOVE it!!

Thanks I think we will head back to the resort after. I sort of had a feeling about that. Our lunch reservation is at 1:25 so we could get alot done before that. My other option which I think may work out better is the desert party if they still have it for September. I'm just looking to do something special for dh 40th.

Ok if we are staying at CBR is there anyway to get a cake sent there? I'm sure the answer is no but thought I would ask.

Ok I have called Pam twice this week and left a message for her to return my call. I realize that the GF is a very busy place and that they have many wedding to handle. I am trying very hard to be patiient. However the cake is a surprise so I have to call while DD is in school. Need a cake for June 8th dining reservation at 1900 park fare and I am getting worried.:confused3

How hard is it to get a cake ordered from GF Private dinning?

i never had an issue getting ahold of her, she called me back the evening of the day that i called. but that was a saturday. has the person whos dealing with cakes changed? cus the lady i dealt with was pat, not pam....not sure but perhaps that might be the issue?

Well finally the third call was a winner. Talked to her and got it handled. I called the GF private dining and just got a message stating her hours. Had an option to page her but thought that was a little overboard.:scared1:
It is finished however I am hoping it looks and taste good. She just offered a 6 inch yellow cake with strawberries and cream filling and cream icing. Well post more info when we get back.

No, they make plenty of fancy cakes, including some of the Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings cakes. I'm pretty sure if you look in the Official Cake Gallery Thread (link in first post) you'll find a post with a bunch of shots I took of their fancy cakes. :thumbsup2
