Hello everyone. I would very much like to order my fiance a surprise Grooms Cake, like the Splash Mountain Cake posted on this thread while at Boma on October 27th. Do I call Animal Kingdom Lodge's private dining number? and how far in advance should I order the cake?

Thanks.
Sam

Call OKW and ask to speak to Carol. They will do a fancy cake that you can pick up at the podium. The Boardwalk Bakery is the place that will make your cake. Carol was very helpful with my cake.

Oh thank you thank you thank you!!! I am so excited now. You just made my day. Now I have to wait awhile longer to order it.

Where can I have a two tier (9inch, 6 inch) cake made? I want to have the cake in my room for my tenth anniversary. The cake appears on the Post your Wedding Cake Thread, first post and is called Holly in the Snow. It is a Disney Fairytale Wedding design. I've checked with my resort and they say Boardwalk bakery doesn't do tiered cake??? We go in December. Any advice would be welcome.

I was there last week and tiered cakes are on display.

Yesterday I knew I needed to call to get DD's cake ordered for her birthday! I got so caught up in getting it done, I completely forgot that I decided to have it delivered to 1900 PF vs CRT. I don't want to try to port around a cake through MNSSHP!! I called and left a message at CRT. Then realized what I had done. Called CRT to leave another message saying nevermind. Somehow I was afraid if I ordered the cake for 1900 PF and then CRT called and I told them I didn't need it, they would end up canceling the 1900 PF order. Not sure if that's even possible.. but not wanting to take chances, I went back and covered myself. SO then I called and talked with a sweet CM who got out Minnie Head Cake ordered. I was quoted $48 plus tax. Guess we'll see what we get!

Does anyone know if you can have a specialty cake delivered to the Hoop Dee Doo Review Show?

I think we are going to end up doing DD's 8th birthday dinner @ Biergarten, a restaurant she loves. I am wondering if there is any way to get a special dessert served there, beyond the normal buffet options?

Yes, you can get a simple, supermarket-style 6-inch or 8-inch cake by calling the Cake Hotline (see first post).

I think what lurkyloo meant to say is, "Yes, you can get a simple, Easy Bake Oven-style cake." :rotfl: That's about what we got. Every supermarket cake I've had has been much better than the cake we got at Biergarten. :sad2:

Yeah, I gotta say that the podium cakes at MK and the resorts are much closer to supermarket level, while the ones at Epcot are soooooo Easybake Oven. :rotfl2: Hmmm... maybe I'll pop over to DHS tomorrow and see which way THEIR podium cakes go!

Call the Cake Hotline number and follow the audio prompts to AKL/Boma. More than likely they will give you two cake options and neither is that customizable. If you have something detailed and very specific you might want to consider having the cake ordered off-site or at a different WDW restaurant.

Here is the mini-wedding cake that we ordered for our tea at the GF. I asked for chocolate cake with buttercream and some sort of pink accents. Pat called me back within about two days of my initial call to finalize everything.

When it came time for dessert I mentioned the cake to our server and she looked a little concerned :rotfl: - she went in the back and came out again to say it would be a few minutes. A few minutes turned into 10-15 and she came back a few more times to let us know it was coming - then the manager came out and said she was going to the bakery to get the cake.

When it arrived and was totally adorable, not to mention very moist and tasty (there was chocolate mousse filling). We cut the cake in half -- DH finished his piece but I couldn't even finish mine. When our server brought the bill she said they weren't charging us for the cake because it took so long to come out. That was very nice and we weren't expecting it at all! I was very pleased with the cake and wasn't bothered by the wait. It was a nice little treat for our anniversary and I'd order again.

This was my DS's 5th year birthday cake celebrated on October 4. It was a pirate theme and it was both gorgeous and very yummy. My DS especially liked that everything on the cake was chocolate. The seawead was sugar.

Thank you Chef Brian! You are a rock star!

Suggestions please!

I'm stumped. I know I want to order a special cake for my family on our first dinner but we aren't celebrating any birthdays or any real event. This is our big sigh-of-relief trip after having a particularly rough year this year. I guess you could say we're celebrating survival. :thumbsup2 So, if I were to order a special cake for my awesome family of fellows what would you suggest for a theme or style? Or, should I just leave it to the professionals and tell them exactly what I just told you?

I'm totally NOT going with the hubby's response when I asked him what kind of cake he'd like to have. "Yellow or chocolate with no fillings or icings or anything." He's the weirdest person ever. Seriously. Cake is for holding up buttercream and cuddling yummy fillings.

I'm going to have that embroidered on a pillow...

The best-looking fancy cakes come from the Contemporary, the Grand Floridian, and Yacht & Beach Club, but it can be a good idea to have at least some idea what you want to help focus the pastry chef. You might look through the all-photo thread (link in first post) or search for "cake" and different themes on www.flickr.com to get some inspiration. Like, you could do a "survivor" cake with a tropical island theme maybe....

We ordered a cake for our upcoming trip with a Halloween / Haunted Mansion theme just because that is the closest holiday and we wanted a cake (no birthdays here either).

You could order one with a theme for a holiday that will be close to your trip, or with a favorite attraction, or one with a favorite character. It doesn't have to even have a greeting on it or it could be a generic one that your family can relate.

Good luck and remember......You deserve it!!!

My dd's birthday is 2 weeks from our last day in WDW & she thinks she is celebrating her bday at WDW. Idk how or what gave her that idea lol.. but I think it is cute. The problem is we will be celebrating my mothers bday the day before our last day. So we will have a mickey cake for her but dd wants a cake as well. We can't have two big cake - two days in a row. I know they will do the mini cake with the chocolate castle ontop. Does anyone happen to know if they will do this cake in chocolate? DD loves chocolate and only likes chocolate cake. She actually wants an Ariel Mermaid Cake but how little do the cakes come in that I could do that? Would they be able to customize the small castle cake and put Ariel on top somehow 'like a standp picture'? My picky child LOL

I'm getting the anniversary cake on this index (Mickey Minnie cake topper) The picture is a six inch, but I was wondering if an eight inch is better for my family of five. (me, dh, dd6, twins 1). The Boardwalk Bakery will be doing it. $50 for the six inch $80 for the eight. What do you all think? Sorry for the quote, but I couldn't post just the one pic.
