I ordered my birthday cake today :)

I got the 6" "Mickey's Delight" anniversary cake from the BW bakery. We chose vanilla cake, fruit mousse, silver Mickey head stamps (choice between silver and gold) and I asked for pastel colored flowers. I'm going to bring a figure to put on top. It will be delivered to our room (BWV) and I was quoted $75 which includes tip and gratuity.

I've changed it slightly :) I called back and asked if they could tint the fondant a light green like in the Tink cake picture instead of the white. She checked with the chef at BW bakery who said it was fine :cloud9: I can't wait to see it!!!

I am a single mother with two amazing children. We have been saving for 6 years to go to Disney! Our first night will be at Chef Mickey's. I would like to surprise my children (11 DS and 8 DD)with a thank you cake. They have sold lemonade, rolled pennies and donated tooth fairy money to the "Disney Fund" Neither one of them has a Disney "favorite" so a character specific cake wouldn't be appropriate. I was thinking more along the lines of "magic". Funds are an issue but I feel like this is a necessary splurge.
HELP!

I got my son a Mickey Mouse head and my daughter a cinderella's slipper when we were at the California Grill. Both were yummy. They were about $15 each. There will be plenty of treats at dinner at Chef Mickey's. You might want to order something at a non-buffet meal. Or you could use the money to surprise them with something else like autograph books and pens.

If you ask for a celebration cupcake they will bring this out.. free of charge =) We received ours at 1900 Park Fare at the GF and my mom got the same thing but with purple icing at CRT in MK. My friend just returned and got the same cupcake at Chef Mickeys.

They also have the mini surprise celebration cakes that cost $15 that you can order ahead of time or at the podium when you check in.
I originally ordered this for my daughter but we had late dinner ressies and by the time it was ready for her cake, they were out of them. So she was brought out the cupcake above with light up tink and buzz light year lol.

The celebration cupcakes remind me of the one DH and I got for our anniversary in 2009 at CP. It was so frozen the icing popped right off when we went to pull out the candle. :rotfl2: It was 8:30 in the a.m. ... way too early for cupcakes and I guess this is why! It was a fun gesture, though!

Hi :)
This was our cake from December 4th 2010.
I surprised my hubby on our honeymoon with this Goofy cake. I had it delivered to Citricos.
I called Grand Floridian private dining, and dealt with Pat. I told her I wanted a two- tier goofy cake like in the photo gallery here...
I also asked for a chocolate goofy statue to sit on top of the cake, and asked if it could be painted. She told me no. It did not look like I anticipated, but either way, the cake looked and tasted FANTASTIC.
It was so moist. Chocolate sponge with White Chocolate mousse. There was so much, we shared with two other couples we had just met. So good though, and worth every penny. My hubby loved it :lovestruc

I just ordered a cake this morning for my daughters birthday!!!! Soooo excited! I called the cake hotline and was told to email Brian at the Contemporary. He emailed me back in 5 minutes with a price!!! I asked for a pink non character specific cake with a wand or tiara, other then that, I figured I would leave it up to them, artistic freedom!!!! I can't wait to see my daughters face!!!! I will post pictures asap!!

I read this thread every day and now I'm not sure what to do. :rotfl2: I'm going on a girls only trip at the end of January and would love to surprise everyone with a cake. Probably silly on my part but I love cake and I love this thread!!!!!! We are eating at 1900 Park Fare on the 30th (getting close). I'm not sure what I want. We're staying at Pop Century so we don't have a fridge for any leftover cake that would need to be kept cold. Anyone have any suggestions for me. I was thinking about the slipper but I really really like cake. :rotfl2: Oh what's a girl to do.

Yes, you definitely can...you just need t ocall Yacht club private dining....If you call t he Yacht club directly, they will connect you.

Does anyone know whether you can get a mini castle cake delivered to CRT? They look pretty cute; but it seems like they are only at the Grand Floridian.

Thanks!

K.

Ok, another silly question, actually, a few questions..

1). How bad does Fondant taste, and is it always necassary for a custom cake?

2). Pastry chef Brian would be making cakes for the cali grill, correct??
Thanks!

How would I go about having a special occasion cake delivered to San Angel or Biergarten?

TIA

Call the Cake Hotline listed in the first post in this thread.

They are only available at the Grand Floridian. You could try calling Private Dining there to see if they would deliver one to CRT for you, but I've only ever heard of the Contemporary delivering to CRT.

You don't eat the fondant—there's buttercream underneath. I mean, you could eat the fondant, but Disney's is waxy and flavorless, and people almost always just peel it off. Homemade fondant can be quite tasty, though.

It is always necessary for a *fancy* cake, but not necessarily for a custom cake. There are just limits to what you can do with buttercream, so most of the time, elaborate fancy cakes are covered in fondant.

Right. :thumbsup2

:cutie: Yet another question :lmao:

So....How does this sound? Vanilla cake with whipped cream cheese & strawberry filling? Interesting?

Just thinking ahead!

Also Moms b-day is three days before we arrive, and dad has never been to disney...

I'm thinking two different cakes on two different nights. Overkill? Or should I do a combined "happy birthday mom, welcome to disney dad" cake?

Question for you all is... where?

My daughter will be turning 3 on our trip. I am trying to get the idea of where exactly to give her the cake. And I am kinda coming up empty. lol. Help? Where would you have your dd's birthday dinner??

That sounds good. If you decide on one night, you could do the cake and have some tuxedo strawberries also for your dad
