I just sent an email to Chef Brian. I'm FINALLY ordering a cake for my son's first birthday at Whispering Canyon Cafe. I've been reading this thread for forever planning the perfect cake- it feels so weird to have finally sent that email. I emailed my request for a western, Mickey themed cake, bright colors with the number one somewhere on it. It's for 27 adults and 4 kids, but I told him I do not want a sheet cake. I'm hoping to just go with the 10" round per Lurkyloo's prior advise that a cake that size may be enough...especially since everyone will be so full from the all-you-can-eat skillets at WCC. They just need a taste, plus I'm sending them home with gift bags full of candy. Fingers crossed it'll work. This is the cake I really like and sent it with the email. We'll see.

Well, I emailed on Wednesday & heard from Chef Brian early Thursday morning. He only asked if I had the mickey topper, so knowing my options are probably the hand-painted figure or the screen printed I quickly looked online to see if I could find something better. I found a few Cowboy Mickey statues but I went with the lenox one since it was most like the one in the picture & it'd be a nice keepsake. So I emailed him back a picture of it. He emailed me back this morning with a real short message stating that they could do a cake similar to the one pictured & it'd be $350 & if I have no other questions, to call & order the cake. I then received an email from "George" from CR private dining offering to help me with my cake order, so I'm unsure if this is rather than calling or a double response from another chef.
I feel a little nervous that Chef Brian wasn't a little more descriptive but he said similar to pictured so I guess that should be enough. I'm also nervous that the lenox statue is too fancy for this cake. He didn't say anything about if the 10 inch is too small or anything like that so maybe when I call to order or email this "George" guy I'll get more details on the sizing & I'll decide on the flavor. I'd love to do the peanut butter cup I've been seeing on here but babies aren't allowed chocolate until one so I don't want his first taste of chocolate to be on our trip & he have some sort of reaction to it or not like it. So I think I'm gonna go with what I did last time cause it was SO good. Yellow cake with bavarian cream & fresh strawberries. It was a big hit last time, so if it ain't broke...
