****Official December 2011 Thread****

So fellow December Disers... who wants to tell me about the candlelight processional? I just saw where they announced some of the narrators while I will be there. Neil Patrick Harris from Dec. 10-12, others still TBA) How does this work? Do you have to have the diner reservation or does that just give you better seats?

So excited to be on this thread!! Just booked a trip for 12/16 - 12/21!! Trying to keep it a secret and surprise the kids!!! I hope it works out and I can keep it!! :yay:

You don't need a dinner reservation, although it's recommended if you would like a seat. A dinner package doesn't get you better seats, it just guarantees that you get a seat! Your other options would be to wait in the standby line (which generally starts forming about 1.5 hrs before each showtime) or you can hang around outside the theater to listen or watch.

If you are interested in seeing the processional in all its grandness and don't want to wait in line, then you should get a package. If you don't mind waiting in line or wouldn't be concerned about crowd noise if viewing from outside the theater, then no package needed!

Booked our trip for Dec 10-17!! Port Orleans- Riverside.. We are taking our son for his 15th birthday.. and hubby is taking me for my X-Mas present! I have always wanted to go to disney around Christmas!!! supper excited!!!

:dance3:We are super excited! Just booked another trip in December with free dining!
We are staying at POP(we love it!:santa:) December 17-23!
We can't wait!:santa::dance3::santa:

All of my ADR's are booked and now just waiting for Dec 3-10. My parents are going to meet us and they will be there from the 6-10. They can't do 4 park days so they will go to MK and Epcot with us. My dad told me to book Biergarten dinner for the CP. I was going to take a chance on standby since our Epcot day will be the 8th with Isabella Rossellini. I didn't think it would be sold out but he didn't want to take the chance.

We will also go to Akershus for breakfast, Crystal Palace for lunch, Mama Melrose for dinner, and Chef's Mickey for dinner. Can't wait for our Disney trip.

We are staying at Windsor Hills in a 2 bedroom condo and my parents will be in a different one. My parents didn't decide to meet us until after I booked or I would have booked a bigger place.

We are going December 11-16. We have never been there before during the holiday season when the decorations are up. Looking forward to seeing everything!

Attending the CP on 12/24 at 8:15PM. Using this event as our Christmas Eve church service.

I've wanted to go to Disney World for the Holidays for so long. Unfortunately I work in retail and they don't agree with my idea of taking a week off in December. This year I finally pleaded enough and talked them into letting me go. I finally get my Disney holiday vacation! I'm so excited.
(Port Orleans Riverside 12/12-12/17/11)

Just booked Dec 10-16! :santa: Our whole family was supposed to go with John Deere down there for JDL business meeting, but the trip was scheduled during mid-March when spring break hits full force. DH was sooo not interested in dealing with the crowds, so he's sending myself and two of our kids, who are super into Disney, down during December. My hubby loves me! :lovestruc Oh and before anyone feels bad for the other two kids, they were totally not interested in going! I can't believe they're related to me! :lmao:

So what do you all make of the rumors that early-mid December will now be really packed at the parks? I guess I ended up being like everyone else who thought they'd stumbled into a great idea with our dates. Oh well, too late now since it's Mom and DP's birthdays the week we're going.

We went last December 11-20. It wasn't busy until the 17th, which was the weekend before Christmas. Before that, everything was very manageable. We loved it...well, except for the freezing Minnesota-like weather, which was what we were trying to leave behind, lol. We're going again this year from Nov 29-Dec 9. We're hoping for warm weather and low crowds!!:goodvibes

I'm just hoping that they hype over how it's the "best time" to go (I'm looking at you Travel Channel and various websites) won't fill up the parks when we go. We're going the 11th-19th and I really am hoping with all fingers and toes crossed. You're going at the best time! I hope you have a great trip :cheer2:

We've gone down during that second week of December for the past two years and thought the crowds were great! I can't wait to go back again this year! :santa:

We went the 2nd week in Dec 2009 and had a BLAST! From reading the boards, it felt the same way... "wow, its going to be packed!" It wasn't at all. They had free dining in 2009 and that did increaes the crowds some I'm sure, but we thought it was the best vacation EVER! If you pick the right parks each day, it will feel very empty. Sometimes we'd hop to a more crowded park for a parade, fantasmic, etc and even then you're not dealing with a summer mob. You'll love it.

We had so much fun that we booked again this year for the same week!!!

(side note: it was pop warner week in 2009 and is again in 2011 when we are there. barely noticed the groups in 2009. Again, pick the right park days and its awesome!)

Treated myself to a birthday gift this week. Going back December 7-13. I was thinking about skipping this year, but a 25% coupon at the resort helped convince me to go!

I've gone the past two Decembers (second week) and it was not that crowded either year. The Pop Warner kids don't really affect the parks as much as they do the All-Star resorts.

It's taking to long! I need to shop or something for this trip. Maybe I'll make some more lists or reconsider our adr's.

Dec. 4-9 and we just hit double digits!!! Im so curious if it's going to be warmer weather or the freeze WDW had last year this same week. I need to start planning outfits for my daughter. So unpredictable.
