Official December 2008

We leave Saturday night!:cool1:

Just two more days of work for me then Friday and Saturday packing suitcases and the car and getting the dog settled in with friends and then we are off:dance3:

:cheer2: :cheer2: I can't believe it, just four more days!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

 Sending some pixiedust: to get you there safely.

Only 13 days for us!!!! :cool1:
Snow, snow, go away!!!

Thank you.

Well, the snow stopped and I shoveled a few inches of wet snow off the driveway. Ugh, I'm stressed right now. :headache:

Our summer trips aren't this bad. I have faith it will get better.

Leaving for the airport shortly.

We have tickets for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas at MK. My SIL who goes many times during the year said to be sure and check out the decorations at Epcot and the Floridian and Contemporary Resorts. She said to take the monorail to see them. You can go right through Epcot on the monorail and see it all, if you won't be visiting there.

Santa will be at Downtown Disney and SIL says there is a small ice skate rink there.

We're going to be there 17-21!

I think your SIL is wrong, there is not an ice skate rink at DTD, how could there be, it isn't cold enough there for that. This will be our 3rd Christmas trip and I have never seen one.

She is right about the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary decorations are nothing to rave about. The best is Wilderness Lodge. You will have to change monorails to get on the one for Epcot and you won't ba able to see everything from there anyway, it goes too fast to get any enjoyment.

:sad1: We were leaving in morning. My sil had a stroke on Sunday does not look good. Can't leave. Thank God my kids had no idea about the trip. Need good thoughts for my sil.

moepanz, I am so sorry to hear this. My mom passed away just 4 days before we were supposed to take a girls weekend trip to WDW. WDW will be there in the future, you need to be there for your family right now. I pray that she makes a full recovery

Believe it or not, Disney used to set up a 5,000-square-foot outdoor ice skating rink in DTD during the Christmas season. It was located on the West Side by the lake. I'm not really sure how many years it's been since they stopped doing it. Probably sometime before the Gaylord Palms started putting up its own temporary rink as part of the ICE! attraction. :)

Nice!!!!! Enjoy your trip!!:goodvibes How did you pack??

Luckily, I'd been listening to the Orlando weather on XM (is it wrong that I have that channel as one of my favorites? lol) and so knew it was going to be highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s, so I packed accordingly. That's not to say I won't go ahead and augment my wardrobe anyway, of course.

WOW, I wasn't aware of that. I have only been going to WDW since 2005 and knew I had never seen one though.

Thanks for the heads up about the discontinuation of the ice rink. As far as weather, they used to set up a rink in Sacramento, CA every December. They had units that froze the water. It was one of several rinks that Dorothy Hamill owned.

Last night when I went through my clothes to see what I could take out I only took out one t-shirt. :rotfl:

A little late, :rolleyes1 but count us in we'll be there from Dec 28-Jan 5 :cool1:
We were waiting for airfares to drop, :surfweb: and they finally did :wizard:

We should be there right now :sad1: I ended up with an ear problem that makes me extremely dizzy... can't get off the couch. I've been here since Friday. So now we're going in January 09 but I'm not as excited. I've been to disney other times of the year... I was so excited to see it decorated for christmas. Have fun all you December Disney goers!! Go on Haunted Mansion once for me too! :)

Off to the airport hotel tonight for an early flight out tomorrow morning! We'll be touching down in Orlando before 10:00 and then off to the Polynesian and WDW we go! :)
