Our Grand Gathering group of 17 will be there Dec 5-14 celebrating my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We will be going to MVMCP on Dec. 9th. Yeah!!!

Just when I thought everything was planned to perfection...I received a email from AirTrans this morning informing me that my 8am flight out of Detroit is now at 2pm!!!

This totally ruins my first day plans of dinner at Sci Fi and Fantasmic. So now what do I do?? I can either keep the new flight time...cancel my afternoon evening plans at DHS and just relax at AKL instead.

..or I can add another night to our trip? (which would probably not be so bad - we had planned to stay a night in Detroit anyways in order to catch the early flight..now we can drive straight to the airport instead)

I'd been interested to hear what everyone thinks.

I am so sorry to hear about the change in flight time. That must be horrible - especially after planning for perfection.

As you have previously said, I think you should add an additional night - since it wouldn't be so bad. That's just my honest opinion.

Check AirTran's site to see what other flights are available for that day. Maybe there is another morning flight or an earlier flight than 2pm. Call them and see if they will put you on an earlier flight.

My mom, dad, brother, aunt, uncle, 2 cousins and myself will be flying out Christmas Day - I can't think of a better way to spend Christmas than with my family in Disney! Dec 25 - Jan 2 are the dates of our trip. We have Hoop De Doo the 27th, Chef Mickey's for Christmas Dinner, and Liberty Tree on New Year's Eve. It's going to be an AMAZING trip and I can't freaking wait!!!

Like someone else suggested, check their website for other available flights the same day. The also changed our flight making us arrive later which also ruined our plans for the day. I called them to see what could be done. I was told that if they change your flight that you can call to be rescheduled to something more convenient for you at no charge to you. We were changed from a direct flight to a stop over in Atlanta. UGH! I hope they add direct flights back for us because we want to get there as fast as we can.

Yup Joel that's exactly what my kid's response was. (No offense to anyone from Motor City!!) Hopefully I can add another night on the start of our AKL stay and arrive on the 6th.

If you can't get a room at the AKL why not try out another resort you have always wanted to know more about? Even if it is a Value Resort? I know it can be a pain to switch resorts but you might have a good time staying at another resort. Maybe?

Well it's kinda worked out OK.

Flight was no problem. We are now flying down a day early on the 2pm non-stop flight. The only hiccup was with the room. I was able to get a standard room with 2 queens at AKL for the night...we will have to move rooms the next day to our pool view with bunk bed. (At least we're still in the same resort) I really didn't want to do 2 resort changes...moving everything to Poly on the 10th is quite enough. Thanks for all the help everyone. I only hope it's smooth sailing from here on in.

Ms*Mountaineer - Next time you're updating the list we will now be 6 - 9th at AKL then 10 - 15th at Poly. Thanks

I forgot to add that we are staying at Saratoga Springs. We have always stayed at the GF but we just joined DVC so this is our 1st venture into using a VC resort! Our home resort is AKV but it is ALL BOOKED for DVC members and that made me sad as we wanted to do the early morning safari at AK and then the night safari at AKV -- but we will have to do that next trip!!!!!!!!

We have lots planned and will be very happy!!
