I have never stayed there but I am now taking my sister and my niece so I decided on there. It didn't come out to that much more when we included having to get a refrigerator. Is there something wrong with the cabins? I am planning this all by myself. This is a surprise trip so any help would be great.
The transportation around the resort is a nightmare. There are internal buses, which take you to different areas, but you better know which area you want to go to and know which bus goes to that area, or you will get lost. It can be a trek from the cabin to the bus stop, especially if you are in the middle of the loop, especially if your neice is little. There is no real theming, especially for small children and the pools are even more plain than the Values.
The cabin itself was really nice, it is the resort itself. There are bus stops at the front that go to some parks and the others are at the back, so you really have to be familiar with the resort and the bus system to really enjoy it. You will spend alot of time traveling anywhere and most of the time when the park buses get to the resort, they are already full of guests from whichever other resort is sharing that day.
I would just rather spend my time in the park than trying to figure out which bus goes where. We ended up using our minivan and that was no fun. I certainly don't want to discourage you, if this is really where you want to stay, because as I said the cabins are great, the resort is nice and tucked away, it just isn't ideal for most people. I prefer a more direct route to the fun.
The FW cabins are terrific. Lots of room, full kitchen, Mousekeeping very attentive. I think you'll thoroughly enjoy them.
I have no idea what Princess Suzanne was implying (I think her signature says it all..)...I love FW. It has so much going for it. The buses are a little tedious (one to get around the resort, another to get from the resort to the parks), but it has its own ferry service to MK, has the HoopDeeDoo Revue on site, the barbecue, outdoor movies, campfire, boat rentals, Segway tours, horseback riding, etc.
My signature has nothing to do with saying we didn't enjoy FW. I do have a hard time choosing where to stay with so many choices and it also depends on what mood I'm in for a particular trip and how much my budget is. The ferry to MK is usually shared with WL. We can get the same feeling there without the headache. Transportation for us can be a struggle anyway with 2 on
ECV's, but even without them FW is a headache and I don't want to put up with that on vacation.
If it weren't for the horrible bus system and the full size bed in the BR, we would probably stay there again.
I even did an extensive amount of research, but you don't understand until you get there just how complicated the resort really is. After a week, we still didn't have it figured out and that made a much anticipated vacation on the anxious. Most of the time, I have a new resort figured out with in a matter of a few hours, not FW
