Official Dancing With the Stars (cast revealed)

I know I'm being hyper sensitive but I can't stand to see Ty hanging all over Chelsie every week. They are very touchy-feely and I can't stand it especially with his wife being right there! I look at Gilles and he is over the moon with his wife. He never touches Chery more than he has to. When they are being judged they stand apart. When Ty and Chelsie are being judged he has her in an embrace. Yuck! What is wrong with people.

I really don't see him being inappropriate with Chelsie. If you notice when he hugs her, he kind of pats her back, it's not a tight embrace. I get the impression that he thinks of her as a younger sister. I think if Jewel had a problem she would tell him privately, and it would stop. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was my hubby. Just MHO.

Maybe it would help to read what she says. She posts on Ty's Blog. She comes across to me as a secure adult that understands the show.

Thanks for the blog link. I know Jewel is totally secure but still, like I mentioned above, I'm probably hyper sensitive.

I don't understand how Melissa and her predecessors who have been sports "cheerleaders" have been allowed to compete. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are DANCERS. You have to be a really good DANCER to get on the squad. How does having prior experience as a PROFESSIONAL DANCER not disqualify her?
I think that's a stretch. I equate the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders to the University of Wisconsin Pom-Pom Squad. They don't cheer with the boys like the real cheerleaders do (with flips, pyramids, etc) and they are more "dancier" ... but they still cheer ... in a line. Line dancing is much different than ballroom.

Following your reasoning, all the musical acts like the ex-Backstreet Boys, Osmonds and Lil'Kim shouldn't compete either because they all incorporate dance in their acts.

Are people really still on this? :confused3

The first thing under "WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADER"
is Dance Technique. :rolleyes1

If you read about the prep classes for the auditions, they are dance classes.
Melissa is a dancer that was a cheerleader. She also has lots of fans due to her exboyfriend, crying guy. But that's another story.
I'm sure she was picked to be on the show because she'd bring plenty of new viewers--Bachelor fans-- who would want to watch her.

What about Kristi Yamaguchi from last season? She was an ice skater but she probably had as much dance training as a professional! Secondly, Melissa is NOT a professional dancer. Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders do that job on the side. It is not a full time job.

Of course the Dallas Cheerleaders have some dance background and use dance moves ... :rolleyes1 right back at you!

However, I don't think that being a professional cheerleader makes her a "professional dancer" in the sense of DWTS. Sure, she has an advantage because she knows how to move her body and how to control her arms, legs, feet and hands. Shawn has that same advantage. How much dance do you think goes into a floor routine? Does that make her a "professional dancer" too?

I do think Melissa was selected because she had a dance background. She only only given a WEEK to prepare and they needed someone to step in and not embarrass themselves. I also think she was selected because of her temporary celebrity status having been just dumped on national television by Jason. I am pleased that she is doing so well. I makes me wonder if Jason peeks on you tube every once in a while to see how Melissa is doing. I'm sure that Molly doesn't allow him to watch the show :rotfl:.

I've wondered if Jason watches the show too!

new poster-

Anybody else bothered by Chuck's concession speech last night? He came off to us as a sore loser...."Well for Melissa to come back from 5 points down....now WE can get back to what we really love, country music."

We have been racking our brains in our house....and we can't think of any of Chuck's songs and don't like Julianne's songs.

Chuck sings Stealing Cinderella, All I Ever Wanted, Man of the House. I thought he came off gracious but that is Chuck's humor though.

I'm glad he's off because he can get back to promoting but I kind of wanted him to stay. Her I could careless about.

OK ... I admit that I live under a rock when it comes to popular music. I usually recognize the name of the performer but I had NO IDEA who the musical guest was last night. Robin Thicke? Man, was he terrible! What was up with that horrible song with Beethoven's Fifth Symphony overlayed on it? Not just Beethoven's Fifth, but a remixed Frankenstein of the Disco version of Beethoven's Fifth from the 70's. Ug.

I just pulled up his Wiki and I see he's the son of Alan Thicke. No wonder he looked familiar.

I mentioned to DH during the show where Chelsie went bull riding that SHE should keep her hands off him.
We kind of thought that she was the one hanging all over him.
(not the case obviously when they are done dancing and are waiting for their scores)

Wow, I LOVE Robin Thicke!! I missed last night show, too bad you didn't like him. His wife is an actress and VERY pregnant in this shot!

So Chuck and Julianne left? I haven't been keeping up. I really didn't like them but didn't like Ty even more!:scared: I'm SHOCKED he's still there!

I know. I also live under that rock and had no idea who he is. When I heard that first song, I thought, that's the song A Fifth of Beethoven from the 70's with some lyrics thrown in.
I guess it's not too surprising that he's Alan Thicke's son. The man did write and sing music on occasion.

Yeah. But Len had to go and open his big mouth monday night and say that Ty should be the one to go. So the voters rallied behind him to save him.

Robin Thicke has been around awhile, he's nothing new. I vaguely remember him hitting the talk shows a few years ago.
It will be interesting to see how long Ty lasts. He actually has a lot of fans. They are voting in droves.

Well, I don't really watch talk shows and since about 2001 I've been more into internet radio and listening to Trance and other EDM among other non-US pop stuff. So, I've never heard of him before now.

Wondering what we'll see tonight. :goodvibes
