Official Code Watch for August 2007

We were lucky enough to be able to cash in frequent flier miles, flying out of Boston, but man I don't like our itinerary! On the way down we're changing planes in Miami (not bad), but then on the way back we're changing in St Louis, just a tad out of the way. All the other flights home that day required changing planes in Dallas, which would have been worse!

It's worth it to me to save the money though . . . a free flight is a free flight. :woohoo:

I booked with JetBlue out of Boston for non-stop flights to Orlando in mid-August = $99.00 down and $89.00 back. With taxes and fees and whatnot, I believe we paid around $215 round trip. My first choice would have been Southwest out of Warwick (RI), however when the summer fares came out, I just about had a coronary. I am saving $400.00+ with JetBlue compared to SW, and do not mind driving an hour to Boston instead of 1/2 to RI.

Last summer I paid $49 one way for DD8 to go to Florida with my mom - it was a Ding fare from SW and I felt as though I won the lottery with that savings. I was not about to wait for a Ding this time around and then be out more $ if it didn't happen.

Good luck!:thumbsup2

You should keep an eye on the Jet Blue rates. If they drop they will give you a credit to use for a future flight in a year (not sure if its a year from purchase to purchase or year from departure date). I used a credit from a Dec trip to book a May trip for just me. I was really hoping May flights would drop ($272) before I book August for my family of 5 but now I'm thinking I should just buy August and I'll just have to take another trip if the Aug or May flights drop.;)

Last August I got SW out of Providence for $105.60 RT. I've been keeping a close eye on SW for my May trip. It was around $270RT then shot up to $315 :scared1: but just this week dropped to $157.60. I think August will drop but I really wanted to fly out of Logan instead and while I do like SW I love  Jet Blue. Gotta love checking in for the flight and getting rid of your checked bags at the hotel. SW schedule has also changed. They used to have a 10:30 am direct flight that was perfect for us. Now they an 8am (too early) or something like 3pm (too late). Jet Blue has a 10:30 flight.

Looks likes there will be a lot of MA folks in Disney this August.

YAY booked POP 8/15-8/24! Now I'm hoping to find a decent airfare from SLC to MCO on Southwest...right now it's $338 rt

We added airfar to our package for about $20 more than that per person, it works out nicely for us (our travel dates are 8/10-8/19) since we can pay for it with our package and spread the payments out, plus it has the best arrival and departure times we could find. Alternatively PM me and I can give you sites that can get it down to about $289 or so depending on if you are flexible with travel dates.

subscribing....I just read up on the free dining rumor and I am really hoping the dates aren't accurate. We are going 8/23 - 8/28 this year. I can't decide if I should book room only with AAA rate now or try to book a package through AAA in hopes of adding free dining later (if it works out in our favor) The package quoted by AAA doesn't seem to add up right though so that's why I am not sure what to do. :confused3

Add me to the list of other New England Disers!

HELLO fellow MASS diser!!! I am also hoping that the free dining works in my favor...I didn't want to change my dates (*more importantly lose days*) but will if I HAVE to.

Fingers crossed for all of us!

Miss Michelle

I live in East Bridgewater, not far from you. We are going in Sept eith the 40% off..:cheer2:

Missed Free Dining back in Aug 2005 by 3 days ,too. These dates won't work for me since I have to go back to work/school on August 27  :sad2:  Hope they're wrong !

I am in the exact same boat as you... College classes start back Aug. 27th so if the rumors are true then no free dining for us :sad2:. So hopefully the rumors are only half true... The free dining part true but the dates being false! They need to be extended! If the dates are true there are probably quite a few people who will cancel their reservations because they just had them in hopes of free dining and can't change their dates and then people who will change their dates to fit in with the free dining dates.

I booked AA for $178 roundtrip from STL to MCO for Aug 6 - 12, 2007 - try American Airlines

I just made our reservation for 8/12 - 8/18 at CSR through AAA. We included the dining plan but am hoping to get that portion credited back! Come on free dining!
:yay:

I am hoping that these dates aren't correct either. My children go back to school soon after that and it would really mess things up for us.

These dates mess us about too, however if they are true I am trying to think positive and that people who may be booked just before Aug 26th may cancel and book during the free dining thus freeing up a load of rooms that Disney will heavily discount :scratchin
