Official Code Watch for August 2007

I did not know of Airtran....even though I wanted non-stop I could go this route. It's going to be a long day...2 1/2 hours to airport, 2 hours at airport, 7 hour flight, to Disney......whew! I will wait and see if any specials come out and keep watching and waiting. Codes anyone....a little pixie dust over here please! lol.

How much further would it be for you to fly out of Portland? Even though the fares are really high right now, there will probably be some "DING" fares on SW closer to your travel date that will bring the cost down. That's what we're waiting for as well. Typically we've paid slightly less than $200 per person PDX-MCO. Good Luck!

What airline may I ask ? I'm looking for cheap fares out of New England.

us too! but i got nervous and booked ours on southwest the other day, because there was not too many flights left on our days. i think i paid 148.00 for ours. but, we like to go 1st thing in the am and non stop. i was afraid that the closer we got to our vacation, there might not be any non stop early am flights. oh well. the when we went in 05 i think i paid either 59.00 or 79.00. that was a good deal i thought!

I booked with JetBlue out of Boston for non-stop flights to Orlando in mid-August = $99.00 down and $89.00 back. With taxes and fees and whatnot, I believe we paid around $215 round trip. My first choice would have been Southwest out of Warwick (RI), however when the summer fares came out, I just about had a coronary. I am saving $400.00+ with JetBlue compared to SW, and do not mind driving an hour to Boston instead of 1/2 to RI.

Last summer I paid $49 one way for DD8 to go to Florida with my mom - it was a Ding fare from SW and I felt as though I won the lottery with that savings. I was not about to wait for a Ding this time around and then be out more $ if it didn't happen.

Good luck!:thumbsup2

mkross,
I hear ya...we're in Southeast Washington (Spokane, 100 miles from us) is our closest "biggest" airport. Fingers crossed for lower fares and some great discounts from Disney!

We're in Central Washington and travel to Seattle. A couple weeks ago I found airfare for 287 pp and booked it. I didn't want to take the chance of it going up any higher (which it has gone up $100+) I wanted to book the airfare as soon as possible and with 5 people travelling I think I got a pretty good deal. Now if only we can get some type of room discount/dining or something......it would really help us out! But no matter what, we're still going in August and I can't wait!

WDWINJUNE,
Cool, another Washingtonian. 287pp is good...We missed out at 271, 318 is the best we've found since. You have 5 people going, where are you staying? The reason I ask is that we're taking my 16 DD friend giving us 5 total. My family wants the POP (2 rooms) rather than Port Orleans. I can't convince them try something else...lol! On the other hand 2 bathrooms would be nice with 3 teenage girls.

We are a family of 5 flying out of PDX (Portland, Oregon) and I got a great deal on delta a few weeks back for $97 one way! Maybe the drive would be worth it for all of you in Washington :confused3

Oh man...I wish I could have got in on that deal! I can't believe how high the fares are right now.

There will be DH, myself, DD11, DD9, DS7 and DS 4 months (so actually 6 of us but I didn't buy the baby a seat on the plane). Since this is a late anniversary trip (and may be our last trip for awhile) we are splurging and staying at the Grand Floridian :cloud9: We stayed there for part of our honeymoon last year and loved it! But I agree with your situation with 3 teenage girls and 2 bathrooms, that will be really nice!

We have two teenage girls and go for two rooms, if we only had one bathroom we would never get out :)

I think Disney should offer a deal on Airfare with packages instead of free dining this year, yikes! I just looked for our trip, we actually have a decent price through Disney on our Airfare, but it is still a lot.

We booked directly through the Air Tran website. It's $49 each way.

Lucky you - what a deal! I am in MA and priced Air-Tran as well as SW and JetBlue. JetBlue out of Boston was still the least expensive, and non-stop - exactly what we need with 2 children in tow. This is what I found for a family of 4, non-stop for mid-August.

Southwest (out of Warwick, RI) = 1341.20

AirTran (out of Boston, MA) = 989.20

JetBlue (out of Boston,MA) = 829.20

Ziggy,

In the past I would get up before everyone, shower and head to the food court for coffee and a newspaper. They would call me when they were done and I would bring breakfast back to the room. If I waited in the room I'd go crazy.

Still going to wait a bit longer for SWA for dd11 and I for our August trip !:thumbsup2 Can't wait ....waiting for Free Dining too . ...I know it's all alot to ask for... but, Keeping my fingers crossed :yay: :cool1: :yay:

Last year we booked a two roomed villa at OKW it worked out well :)

so, far airtrans is not hot...I which I could get $49.. right now, it is 94 one way and the other is $114.. so right now, flying out of Akron-canton there is no deals. I am still lurking everyday to check flights.:)
