*** Official CHRISTMAS WEEK planning thread***

Our ADR dates aren't too far off. I have a nice quiet evening to plan this trip tonight. However, I don't even know where to start:confused:

We've gone enough that I don't really make much of a plan anymore. But I am going to need it for this trip. I need a jumping off point. I guess I should look at the park hours and recommendations and start from there?

Do any of you plan to rent a car? I don't know that we'll need one for the whole trip and with traffic it's likely a bad idea. But we'll be going to Universal for our last 2 days and by the time I pay for a shuttle there, and then back to the airport we might just be better off getting one at least for the end of the trip.

I know at very least that we'll be doing MVMCP on the 15th so I will plan the day itself as a resort day.

I guess I better get started. How are you all coming along with your plans?

(I don't have facebook so I can't join the group:()

We're going the week after Christmas! We'll be there Dec 28th-Jan 4th! I know it will be crazy busy, but it will be our 8th trip in 5 years so we'll just soak up the atmosphere. I really want to see everything dressed up for the holidays. We plan on getting there early to hit the rides and then taking it easy, doing an ADR for dinner and just relaxing in the atmosphere for dinner. We'll stay offsite because there are 7 of us, and we need the space, but I will plan plan plan!!

I am having trouble trying to decide on where to stay. I guess it will all depend on what discount my CM daughter can get us for that time. I am not even sure they give room discounts to them for that week. But I sure hope so! We aren't too picky and with just 3 of us, we could stay just about anywhere onsite. Kinda hard to plan when we have no idea where we will be staying. And she won't even know about a discount until at least the end of august. We may just book with an AP or bounceback discount if any are available, until we find out what she can offer us.

I am excited to go but sure wished we could make it to another MVMCP. :( We went last year and it was so much fun. One time is not enough, and I am sure I missed some things. ;)

I have heard that the week of Christmas the parade is the same as the party and so ate the fireworks, but I don't know that for sure. Basically people have said Christmas week it's like the party every day without the cocoa and cookies..... If it is true I will just buy the cookies

ooh You are probably right! Didn't even think about that. But I do remember now, that they did have the same parade and lightshow/fireworks a few days after our 'party' day. My DD made the comment that we could have seen it all without paying the extra $$. We did get to ride several rides without waits during the party though. Esp. since most were lined up for the characters. lol Our last day there last year was the 22nd and our party day was 18th.

We are going on Dec 29 to Jan 3rd for our first family trip, I can handle the crowds but not so sure about my wife and daughter..

I don't really make any kind of plans when I go at that time of year, I kinda just wing it and go with the flow. been there enough times to see most all of it, [I always try to save something for the next trip] and rode the rides so its no rush to do everything. that way I can just enjoy the decorations and the feeling of being there at Christmas.

my only plans are something like this;

Sat, arrive- animal kingdom
Sun- Hollywood studios
Mon- epcot
Tue- Christmas eve, magic kingdom
Wed- Christmas day, magic kingdom and epcot world showcase
Thurs- park hop
Fri- fly home

I go solo so I don't worry about reservations to sit down and eat, I can grab a burger and fries and my tummy's happy :lmao:

We're going Dec. 27-Jan. 3. :cool1:
It's our first trip to WDW. Our high school son will be marching in the Citrus Parade with his school band and also at a parade at Disney.

We will celebrate our 25th anniversary that week! So I'm looking for a nice restaurant. If we could get free dining we would consider a onsite value resort. If no free dining, we'll get a condo nearby (separate bedrooms for us and the kids-- it's our anniversary! )

Call to see if there is a pin for your address. Pins have been going out for about 2 weeks.

I am soo ready to start planning! Usually I have my DD20 to do all the planning, but since she will already be at disney working, I am having to do it.
I just found out that DS will need to start back to school on Jan 2nd. Our plans were to go from 27th-3rd. Now I may be moving the dates. It would not hurt for him to miss a day or two. But since he is in the Honors program, It will be alot of work that he will have to make up.
So I am thinking we could just go down earlier, be able to spend Christmas day with DD (hopefully at some point in the day) and leave a few days earlier than planned.
This will only work IF they will let her finish her College program a couple days early in order to get back home so that DS can be back at school.

So at this point, we are planning Dec. 22-Jan 1st.
We do have AP's. So now the question will be...Will we get a great CM discount or will they release FD for Dec 22nd?

AND where will we stay?? I feel very lost since I can't really do much until we get her moved down in August. :confused3

OMG. How am I just finding this thread now? We'll be at POFQ 12/19-12/29. Can't wait to go back and read this whole thread!

Relax, it will all work out. There are rumors of the free dining going public soon, so maybe that will work out for you. Please come on over to the FB group, most planning will happen there.

Welcome.

Welcome, please also join us on FB.

I have not been posting much there lately as we are about to leave for our June trip, but I will get more down to business when we get back.

Just requested to join the Facebook Group. We will be at Disney 12/22 to 1/4. This is our 2nd Christmas Trip and we are sooooo excited. We will be able to make ADR next Thursday 6/20/13. We like to know which parks we will be in and plan our meals around the EMH. Does anyone know when (or if) the Park Hours and EMH for Late December and/or Early January will be released?

Thanks
