When'd Beckett cut her hair?

sailorstitch

Beckett didn't. Stana Katic did, over the summer hiatus. At PaleyFest, Katic stated that the character was still going to have long hair, which meant that she (Katic) would have to spend yet more time in the styling chair getting extensions put in every week.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread -- I really don't understand why they can't just write her change of hair length into the script, rather than spending money and time redoing extensions over and over again.

They don't even need to explain it - a few years ago, her hair changed from 1 week to the next and no one said anything. Or they could have had her change it when she went to DC, even if McCord's hair was long. I guess the stylist and/or Marlowe prefer her long hair. I love her hair short - loved the way she wore it at Paley, didn't like the look at the CBGB opening. Those bobby pins looked stupid.

Wasn't there a flashback episode where she makes fun of all of her hairstyles over the years (or am I just flashing back?)?

Yes, "Still". In the middle of remembering something, Castle stops. When Kate makes a comment, he says "I was distracted by the dizzying array of your hairstyles over the years".

Finally have time for my comments on episode 3, "Need to Know"

loved:
the Rick & Kate face time scene. It was adorable & fun. Loved the conversation about favorite positions (the look on his face was great), and the "kiss", especially him taking it & putting all over his face.

Kate running into the break room with a big grin on her face. Then her "yes you are a tool", her "you're bribing me with a latte" and her "you're not Castling me" and then the head shakes.

The crime scene tape hitting Rick in the face

the conversation between Rick & Martha about Alexis & Pi, then his comments on the murder - the hook & hoist jokes.

all of the conversations between Rick & the guys. "Which side are you on?" " Beckett is Judas & you're Judas's Judas", "your relationship is based on you pushing boundaries"

Espo denying Rick's call on national TV

Perlmutter: Mr. Castle, you're back but not by popular demand.

Rick & Kate's scene before she was fired. Rick's "makes me love you more" and then his "then I'd love me more" were sweet & funny, then the serious discussion about the two city relationship, then the key, then Kate hugging him - great. Loved the look on Kate's face when Rick got serious.

loved the scene when he invites her to the loft, then realizes how many people are there.

loved Gates asking if the guys are "doing paperwork". You could tell she knew they were still investigating the case. Loved her comment to McCord: He may not have had a grieving mother or a wife waiting for him but his killer should not go unpunished.

So what's going to happen next? I did think she'd get her old job back right away, but according to Stana Katic, it won't happen. And I kinda hope she can't move back to her apartment yet, it would just be a bit funny to see Rick deal with an overcrowded loft. We do know that Alexis & Pi are moving out at the end of the month.

Yeah, why go through all that work? :confused3

I'm glad she's not getting her job back right away - there's no way that the NYPD would have left her job open, and once it's filled, there are civil service and union rules to deal with. No one will be demoted willingly. I know they'll find a job for her, but it's going to have to be different.

It'll be fun to watch Beckett trying to insinuate herself into cases, just as Castle has had to do!

Yeah, that's what would happen in the real world. But this is TV world where a NYC cop can afford a nice loft, loads of shoes, Burberry coats & lots of leather jackets. Tomorrow's episode-from what I've seen from the promos & sneak peeks-looks like she'll end up doing something great & get her job back.

I've always thought that she could get offered a spot in one of the NYPD intelligence units. They are mostly made up of ex-feds, and they get to work in a cool underground HQ in the Bronx. (Yep, the Bronx, LOL, and it really *is* an underground facility, or at least, so sayeth NYMagazine.)

It would make perfect sense for Gates to nominate her for a job like that. Personal style aside, Gates respects Beckett's abilities, and she wouldn't want to leave her at loose ends. (And I imagine the glee with which she would envision Castle having to try to get past yet another new task force commander every month or so would be comic gold.)

I think she'll be back to the 12th as a homicide detective. No more shaking things up. And I have a feeling it will be on tonight's episode.

OK, so maybe we understand ONE reason for Alexis' attraction to Pi.
Still, that only works until he starts to talk. Keep him shirtless and silent and there could be justification, but the whole guy is still a train wreck.

(And if I were Beckett I'd have embarrassed the heck out of him for walking in that way without even knocking -- especially when the excuse is getting to a bathroom that has another door.) What person over the age of six DOES that, anyway? :confused3

First response: that was a fun episode!

And a few neat parallels to a previous hostage episode, “Cops & Robbers” (which is probably my favorite Castle episode of all time)

The lead cop, Peterson, asks for someone to call “Roman”. The lead cop tonight was Roman. (I guess Dean Norris, who played Peterson, was too busy to come back)

In the middle of “Cops & Robbers” Rick has a plan and tells his mother, “don’t worry I saw it on Die Hard”. In tonight’s episode, he tells them one of the hostages must have watched “Die Hard” too many times.

And I find myself wanting a cheeseburger!
