Official "Castle" thread! Spoilers welcomed!

Personally, I hope Marlowe chooses NOT to do the wedding this season, unlesss they decide to make this the final season. I've always thought that the wedding should be the series finale.
(I've got the impression that MilMar and the cast are up for one more season, and I think that given how well they managed strretching "will they or won't they", stretching out the denouement for another 30 or so eps won't be something that they cannot handle.

My guess is that it probably depends largely on the mood of the suits at ABC. Bones has already done a wedding this year; and given the oft-mentioned similarities between the premise of the two shows, a Castle wedding this season might seem too BTDT, especially if it is another outdoor wedding. (And given Marlowe's frugal style, I'm sure that any beach wedding that Castle does will be filmed in Southern California.)

One thing that I do think is sure: no one who works on this program on a regular basis is going to have difficulty finding steady work when it ends. The production of Castle has a reputation in television for being a very pleasant workplace and for running like a well-oiled machine, ALWAYS on time and under budget. That's not easy to achieve over 6 years, and it speaks very well of the professionalism of all involved.

PS: There is a well-known Canadian reporter named Simon Doyle, who happens to be one of the co-authors of a book entitled "Mobilizing the Will to Intervene: Leadership to Prevent Mass Atrocities." He is currently the editor of The Wire Report, a news website devoted to the Canadian media industry.

I also think they're not doing the wedding this year. And I don't think this is the last season either. The ratings are still good. I've always felt they'd do a "Hamptons" wedding especially after seeing that beautiful house they used last year.

But I hope they do the wedding before the show ends - I want to see how married Kate & Rick work together etc. I always thought they might end it with "We're pregnant!" :rotfl:

And I agree - none of the cast will be out of work long unless they choose to be.

Another homage: this time it was The Terminator. (Homage eps are so much fun. :thumbsup2)

Hunch: I have a feeling that there is going to be a situation soon that is going to have Kate being in the position of getting torn between Castle and Alexis. I don't think that she resents Alexis at all, but they are not really close, so when Kate sides with Alexis there are teensy shades of what torpedoed Castle's marriage to Gina: he wants Alexis all to himself, the way that it has always been. And while Pi really *is* a legitimate disaster, Castle's present attitude would probably turn up in reaction to any guy that Alexis got serious about. I do believe that it is time to call in Jim Beckett for a consult. (And as serious as that character always seems, I suspect there is some comic gold to be mined again in the conversation he and Castle could have about this. Jim is Yoda -- with coffee and proper grammar.)

I love your idea of a Jim Beckett consult! I love the character & wish they'd fit him in more often.

I have a feeling that the situation with Pi and Alexis will be coming to a head. I know a future episode (not the one coming up, but the next one) is titled "Like Father, Like Daughter" (or something like that, I may have it backwards & I'm too lazy to look it up, LOL). Alexis will be coming to Rick for help when a innocence project type case she's working on isn't going well. And Kate will be helping as well. And hopefully, she'll realize that Pi is a jerk.

It's interesting when you look back at old episodes - season 1 & 2 Alexis and Kate had scenes together. Alexis choose to do a community service project at the precinct. (the episode when Alexis tracked down the victim's daughter to give her a photo album) After Kate told her she was impressed, Alexis said something about how "it's not as important as what you do" but Kate told her what she did was important. They also had a scene when Beckett came to stay at the loft after her place was bombed that was really sweet but it was cut.

But then Alexis was at Montgomery's funeral, saw Kate get shot while her dad was a few feet away. Then when Josh went after him in the hospital she was the one who tried to stop Josh (Rick almost seems to stand there and take it) Then she saw her dad worry about Kate and then she saw Kate cut him off that summer. Then at the beginning of season 4, she's disappointed that he's back at the 12th, overhears Rick's conversation with Martha about Mr. Smith. And thru that year, she's there when Rick & Martha are held hostage in the bank (when she's really harsh with Kate), starts to work at the morgue and hears Beckett tell Castle she doesn't care who he sleeps with (the famous "the more the merrier" line in Linchpin), etc. etc. And then Rick reverts to his bad boy ways for a while, then he & Beckett start their romance, she goes off to college. Then when Christmas rolls around she wants to do something a little different, Rick gets all pouty, she changes her plans, then he's going to run off to see Kate. (remember the face she made at the table when he left?) Then she's kidnapped. Then he doesn't want her to go to Costa Rica. And then he doesn't tell her he's about to pop the question to Kate. I'm sure that didn't thrill her.

So I'm not totally surprised she's acting like a brat.

Well, "Time Will Tell" was a hoot.

Lots of good lines:

Castle: This just became my favorite case.

Castle: Whatever crazy theory I could have come up with, this is better.

(after Kate tells Ryan that Alexis is "moving in with a boy"):
Ryan: And you're letting her?
Castle: Well apparently the only way to stop her is by locking her up but according to Miss By-the-Book here that's unlawful imprisonment.

Lanie: A lot of weirdos out there with too much imagination is what happened and yes, I'm looking at you Castle.
Castle: Yes but I only commit my murders on paper. I don't actually do them. A lot more lucrative, a lot less prison

Beckett: You're trying to drive me crazy, aren't you?
Castle: Well, apparently I already do if we end up with three kids.

Castle: Is it just me or does that make sense?
Ryan: No, it's just you.

Castle: Maybe we should put something in our vows about following one another into creepy places.

Loved that they left it open ended enough so if you want to believe in time travel you could.

Loved that Rick didn't have his usual Castle Jr. here. In fact, Ryan did some of the rebutting.

Loved that Espo watches Dr. Who!

Loved the faces Rick was making behind Kate's back when they had Simon handcuffed in the old power plant. And loved his excuses why he was talking to him.

I want to believe they have 3 kids but I don't believe she's going to be senator. After all, she didn't like the politics of working for the feds.

Loved the scene with Kate & Rick when Kate tried to explain what might be motivating Alexis' uncharacteristic behavior. I loved how she talked about their future there too.

As usual, Nathan Fillion did a great job in that final scene. His "too soon" at the end just about broke my heart.

And like I mentioned the other day, loved the scene with Kate, the letter and the coffee!

I will say one thing kind of threw me - when they were interviewing the step-brother's wife after he'd been murdered in front of her, she was strangely calm. If it was a usual case, I would have suspected her.

All in all, a really nice episode. And next week's looks like a lot of fun too!

I think that of all the things that Beckett was hearing about their "future",the one that got her attention was the idea that 20 years in the future, she and Castle were still married. I could just see her really wanting to think that that one was going to come true. It's still her biggest fear, that if they get married that it will fall apart after a couple of years.

I *can* see her becoming a Senator. Senators actually have a lot of power, particularly those from very populous states like NY where constituents come from a wide political spectrum. What I cannot see her initially doing is choosing to run, but if she is involved in bringing down Bracken in a really spectacular way, I can see the governor offering her the rest of his term, and if she was good at it, she could win reelection. (Note re: The Rules; this is about a FICTIONAL politician, not a real one. No rule breaking intended.)

Stories like that one are ruined if there is a logical explanation in the end. Much better to leave it unresolved.
Loved that Espo watches Dr. Who!
And loved it even more that when caught he tried to pretend that he didn't.

I assumed that she'd probably taken meds. Things like short-term Valium are pretty commonly prescribed when someone witnesses a loved-one's sudden death.
(Also, I don't know if you are a ST fan, but the step-brother was Tim Russ, who is best-known for his role as Lt. Commander Tuvok on ST Voyager. More sci-fi geek casting.)

BTW, speaking of great lines, I forgot to mention the one from "Number One Fan" that made me laugh the hardest. It's near the beginning, when Castle first goes into the dentist's office. He asks Emma what her demands are, and she doesn't understand, so Castle says, "What do you want?" She replies, "I just want you ... [pause]... to prove that I'm innocent." The look on his face before she finished the sentence was just priceless!

Yeah, every time I've watched Number One Fan, that line gets me!

I forgot to mention that about Tim Russ. His voice clued me in. They must love old Star Trek folks at Castle- Dr. Burke, Capt. Gates, Jonathan Frakes (Riker) directed a few episodes - and I think there have been a few more.

Valium makes sense. Because it was eerie.

And her replacing Bracken is a kinda fun idea. Didn't think of that, and it makes some sense.

I'm a Chuck fan, so I loved seeing Joshua Gomez here. He was wonderful. I can't imagine anyone else playing the part.

This may have been my favorite episode of the show ever.

In "An Embarrassment of *****es", Nana Visitor was the dog's therapist. She's better know as Major Kira in Deep Space Nine.

ETA: Love the fact that the title, which in this particular case really does refer to female dogs, was censored!

Thank you, I knew there were more!

And I'm not surprised that it got filtered, LOL.

There are also a lot of guest stars who are alums of the X-Files; there are also several long-time crew members of Castle who are X-Files alums.

Lots of soap vets, and lots of sci-fi vets. It's a small club of geekery.

That was an OK episode. But there were a few good moments. And I understand a little more why Alexis has been acting the way she has.

Next week's looks interesting.

Forgive me, folks, I didn't get to watch the ep until a day late. I liked it.

So Pi is an entomologist? That's a welcome surprise; it looks like the goofball actually managed to earn a degree somewhere. (Still doesn't solve the mystery of the Amsterdam connection, but it's an improvement, at least.)

I love how Alexis is growing up, and "make up ice cream" just doesn't cut it any more. Really left Castle at sea.

Although I still don't understand the attraction to Pi - couldn't they have cast a guy that Molly Quinn had at least some chemistry with?
