I meant to add this last night. I knew the actor who plays Richmond (the Fed computer guy) looked familar. I found out that he played Ed on West Wing. (often confused with his co-worker Larry)

and another 6 Degrees....the guy who played the once a year boyfriend of the victim in the sci-fi convention episode (Final Frontier) played Joey Buchanan before Nathan (One Live to Live, the soap opera Castle mentions that his 'nanny' watched and inspired a book).

My thoughts on episode 2 (Dreamworld):

I loved it. Of course, not as much as the first episode, but this was still a really good episode. I knew Castle wasn't going to die, but it still was pretty suspenseful.

Loved:

Kate: I'm not letting you out of our engagement that easily

Rick: next time I say I'm dying to see you, let's keep it metaphoric

McCord: Is he always such a character?
Beckett: yeah, it's one of the things I love about him

Rick (to McCord): No, I'd rather die than drink anymore of that sludge. (she stares) Too soon?

Castle: sometimes the hardest things in life are the things most worth doing

the phone call between Rick, his mom & Alexis. And I loved the fact that Rick couldn't pull one over on his mom. And I loved the fact that she went to Ryan & Espo. And that they took her concerns seriously, and called Beckett.

Side note: I think that only the 4 of them - Castle, Beckett, Espo & Ryan - have been in every episode of the series. I was wondering if that would still be true after this episode but they did manage to get the guys in there. And the conversation they had coming off the elevator was great too. (Ryan mentions that he thought that he & Espo would have kids together, and Espo says "Did you tell that to Jenny?")

Loved the exchange between Castle & McCord about how Kate was doing in the job. Also loved McCord's apology to Rick.

Loved Rick & Kate spinning theory about who the killer is really going after. You could see Rick was fading, but he still had the ability to build theory with her.

Loved the scene in the hospital & the take-off of Wizard of Oz. And the banter between Rick & Kate about their weekend. And recommitting to their relationship even with the problems.

Loved the "that's what partners do" scene between Kate & McCord. McCord mentioning that Kate going along with Castle's thought reminded me of Jordan Shaw. And of course, that scene is setting the groundwork for why Kate will leave DC. She didn't like that the SOD is getting away with what he did. Even when she & McCord were questioning him, Beckett sounded like she was interrogating him, while McCord was just asking questions. This isn't what Kate had in mind when she left NY.

Also loved the parallel of Kate's shooting/Rick's collapse: they both said "stay with me".

All in all, a nice episode with some great lines. Next week's episode looks like a classic Castle episode, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I had a crazy thought this morning.

Now we know that McCord is around for 3 episodes, and #3 airs tonight. So most people are guessing that tonight's episode will be the one when Kate decides to come back to the 12th. (between spoiler pictures and epsiode descriptions for future episodes, I don't think that's too far off the mark). But my crazy thought? Kate gets fiired! Yeah, she and McCord had the discussion about Beckett needing black & white and DC is shades of gray, and she & Castle are having issues with the 2 cities thing, but when I was re-watching Dreamworld I caught a few things: 1. the way Kate questioned the SOD & 2. the fact that she almost lost her job going to his home. And I bet she does something on tonight's episode that isn't OK with her federal bosses. Marlowe's been shaking up the fan base, and no-one's guessed that. But my guesses are usually wrong, so there's that. Well, let's see what happens.
