And here we go again with a film noir homage. This time it is ...
[BIG spoiler next, in white text -- don't read if you have not seen Valkyrie]
The classic noir film D.O.A.: [Edmund Mate, 1950.]
What I found to be the most interesting thing was the change in Katic's body language when she was with Fillion. Once the proposal scene was past, she was noticeably more relaxed and open at all times, with an obviously affectionate demeanor (even, to an extent, in the scenes where she was truly annoyed with him). In the past she always had a certain physical tension that conveyed wariness, and now that is gone. I have to hand it to her for the subtlety; TEM was right about Katic's ability to use her body to convey quite a lot even without speaking.
I also loved the banter about the size of the ring -- pretty soon that chain around her neck is going to give her a stoop if she keeps loading such heavy bling onto it!
Also, I was glad to see the 12th's IT specialist back again; I really like her.
(You KNOW that the boys were never fooled that the serial number was random, but the lure of those Knicks tickets was impossible to resist.)
One other note: I think that there may be a serious twist ahead having to do with the mysterious Pi. "I ... lost my passport." Right; he's in NYC and he is obviously American; all he has to do is apply for a replacement; he could get it in two days. However, if he had his Netherlands resident visa revoked for some reason, that would be entirely another story. (Note that he said that he LIVED in Amsterdam, not that he was from there. Could this be a reverse reference to
Frozen Heat? Petar was Dutch, after all.) Right now he is just comic relief, but I suspect that there may turn out to be more to him in the end.
