I don't eat cake, but I wanted something special for my little niece when we go very soon, so I have ordered her a white chocolate slipper and have asked to have Happy Birthday written on the plate that it is served on. We will be dining at 1900 Park Fare after her day at BBB:) She knows about BBB, but not the slipper:) I can't wait to see her face...

I am coming to the experts for some guidance. My best friend and I will be heading to WDW next week. We will both be celebrating our 30th birthdays. We will be eating at California Grill on Friday. I want to surprise her with something amazing (taste and appearance). The 8 inch seems to be the one that I can have custom decorated but that will be way too much food!!! Are there other options for just 2 that can be decorated? She loves Ariel and buttercream if that helps.

Thanks!:flower3:

We are celebrating our 10th anniversary at Cali Grill in September. Besides it being our anniversary, hubby will be here on R&R form Iraq, so this trip is really a special one for us! Our three girls will be with us (5, 7 & 7) so I think a cake would be really fun for them. I keep seeing pics of gorgeous cakes from the GF bakery. Is the CR able to do cakes, too, or should I order one from the GF? And if I order it from there can I pick it up or do I have to pay for delivery? Thanks!!!

The bakery at the CR can take care of you! :thumbsup2

(You can't pick up cakes from the GF)

We had to order the 10 inch cakes in order to get them decorated...we ate at CG twice on our last trip...once on Easter and once on my bday. We ordered cakes for each dinner....I didn't know my husband ordered one for me for my birthday. The were delicious! But pricey!

Well we know that recently the GF bakery will customize 8 inch cakes, so hopefully you can get the same arrangement at the CR. Good luck when you call!

You can customize an 8"cake at the Contemporary all you have to do is ask and tell the Cast Member exactly what you want.

If this is any help, I ordered a cake for Chef Mickey's just this week.

I told her I wanted an 8" cake with a kids Mickey theme since it will be for dd3 and ds5. She spoke to the chef and came back and said they could do a painted white choc Mickey "statue". I told her that colours didn't matter, just want it fun for 2 small kids. She said no problem, the chef likes as much info as possible, but will definitely make it fun.

She did ask for my ADR conf # to tie it all together, but said there is not a separate conf # for cake.

I also added the table decorations and deluxe goodie bags. I can't wait to see the kids faces.

We arrive on Sunday the 23rd and our res is for 11am Monday.

Thanks to everyone giving advice about calling and speaking directly with someone at the restaurant. After several calls here is what I've got. I will get an 8 inch cake (more than I need but statue won't fit on 6in) with a hand painted Tinkerbelle. I was worried after seeing the one here as I didn't care for it. I was told they have a lady that sits and hand paints the chocolate statues and it will definitely be green. I am getting 2 chocolate covered strawberries on the side (my dd's fav). The cake is Bavarian strawberry cream. They will either put on the cake or on the plate around it "I TINK everyone has the right to my opinion". That is mine and my dd's joke. I had a quote of $70. I can't wait. I hope it is as good as it sounds.

So if you are at The Wave on Sept 22 around 6:30 come by and have a slice.....LOL.

So what do you do about tip? I would love to tip that lady that handpaints those or the chef that makes them. How do you handle it? I know it is added to my bill but I really don't think my waitress or waiter is entitled to $14 extra because they brought out the cake (20%)

Thanks for all the tips. Can't wait to post the pics of my baby and her cake.

See, I never had mine tied together.... :confused3

Could anyone else who recently ordered say if they gave their confirmation numbers or not?

I called Pat at GF recently and she only asked for the restaurant and time of reservation. Oh, and she wanted my resort reservation number.

Now I'm wondering if I should call back?

We got these at CRT on August 3rd. Mom & my cousin were very surprised. They said they were tasty. I tasted the chocolate mousse myself and it was yummy. Had no trouble ordering these at 2 weeks out but also called 1 week out to confirm. It said "chocolate slipper dessert" on the receipt that was placed on the table but they never looked at it. I also had to remind her at the end because she forgot. No biggie. I believe the total was $31 for both. :goodvibes

I'm looking for advice. My husband and I are taking our three daughters ages 2, 6, and 8 princess:princess:princess:to the world at the end of September. We are celebrating our tenth anniversary and I want to get a cake delivered to Chefs de France for our anniversary dinner. The girls are terribly excited to be included in the dinner, since we wouldn't usually include them in our anniversary celebration. In fact, they are a little miffed they weren't at our wedding. :rotfl: All they know that there was a big party where everyone dressed up and they weren't invited.:sad2: They love looking at the wedding photos and playing dress up with their own "wedding dresses". So I want to order something as close as possible to an actual wedding cake, to feed five of us. I love the individual wedding cakes, but I don't really want to order five of them. The 10 or 8 inch cakes that I've seen are pretty, but lack the details of the individual cakes. Does anyone know of a cake that would fit the bill? Thanks for your help.

Hi & welcome! :welcome: We used to live in Midlothian & Chesterfield many years ago.

On to the cake... I suggest you call Chefs directly to see if they make their own cakes. Find out exactly what you can expect, before ordering. If they don't make their own cakes, I don't recommend using the Epcot cake line to order your cake. An alternative would be to ask Chefs if you can carry in a cake from an outside bakery. If they say it's okay, you could order a cake from Boardwalk Bakery & carry it in with you. The exit to the Boardwalk is very close to Chefs making this fairly easy. We you leave via the Epcot World Showcase exit, turn left for the bakery. Look for Boardwalk Bakery cakes on the cake gallery thread to give you an idea what they can do. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2118274 We love Chefs, btw. Enjoy your trip & happy anniversary!

So exciting! :goodvibes Good luck!!!

I would call them directly and ask - I don't know if that's been done on this board before.

Try and see! They might come up with something outstanding.

Call Private Dining at the Grand Floridian - they can help you set it up. They even have a private butler who could come serve you dessert on the cruise if you want (and have the $$$): 407-824-2474
