Just got off the phone with a person in the pastry dept for AKL. She said I CAN get the 6 inch cake decorated in green fondant with vines and leafs, and sugar leafs on top with chocolate elephants, and some chocolate dipped strawberries around the bottom,

How much will that cake cost?

I just spoke with AKL and we will have a vanilla cake with chocolate filling and I described the same decorations as you have, but I will need a 10 inch cake and the total is $97 with the gratuities, delivery charge, etc. I think it was $45 for the cake, $30 for the decorations... and they'll have a chocolate sign that reads "Happy 7th Birthday Katie" on it as well. I cannot wait to see it! :)

Just got off the phone with a person in the pastry dept for AKL. She said I CAN get the 6 inch cake decorated in green fondant with vines and leafs, and sugar leafs on top with chocolate elephants, and some chocolate dipped strawberries around the bottom, and I can have it delivered during our lunch in Sanaa. Now I just have to find out (closer to the date) if they'll hold the leftovers til my room is ready and have it delivered to my room for munching on during the trip!

They do NOT have the mickey stamps like at GF (no big deal I prefer the above for my occasion anyway)
I can only get yellow or chocolate cake with vanilla or chocolate buttercream filling...again, that's fine.

She made my day. If they CANNOT hold the leftovers and deliver to my room, I'll see if they can deliver the cake into my room that evening, instead of during our lunch (like a specialty basket)?? Anyone know if this is possible or am I asking too much:confused3?

If you don't mind me asking how much is the cake that you are getting? We'll be staying at AKV in Dec. and taking some friends that are currently booked at AKL (will be staying with us if of WL for a 2 bd. comes through) and I'd love to get something like what you just described for a treat for all of us and as a semi-birthday cake for myself :rolleyes1.

As far as them delivering to your room, I believe that you have to be in the room in order for them to deliver something. At least that was the case last May when I had some goodies delivered to our AKL room. Thanks!

When I spoke with them just a minute ago they said it can be delivered to our room at AKL even if we aren't there. (I am not sure exactly when we'll get in)... our 10" cake will run $97 with all fees, etc

From my experience I do not think they will hold an already eaten cake (leftovers) and then deliver it to a room.

We just left our leftovers at the restaurant and asked them to share it with our neighbors.

Of course, you can ask when you get there but be prepared for a no answer.

I couldn't get a definite price as the chef wasn't available, but the pastry person I spoke to did say it should be approximately $62. I'm expecting it to be alittle higher for the sugar leaves and strawberries.

I really hope I was given correct information, and I'm thinking I'll ask for the cake to be in the room when we check in. But I'll figure all this out as the date approaches.

I just love watching this thread! Do you know if boardwalk or the disney parks will do an Indiana Jones cake?

I don't believe they will leave things in the room before you check in.... I'm pretty sure they won't, because they don't want to be held liable if something goes wrong.

Health regulations prohibit Disney from storing guests' leftover food in their refrigerators, BUT I know a bride who recently got the Mara to hold the remains of her wedding cake by signing a waiver... so it's worth asking!

How many does the 6 inch cake feed?

If it gives you any idea...

This is how much of our 6-inch anniversary cake remained after six people had big honkin' slabs of it... :rotfl:

Lurkyloo, do you know anything about needing a confirmation number connected to your cake? I'm not sure if you were getting to it, didn't know the answer, or if the post got lost... but I just wondered, since you seem to know so much about cakes. :)

(And I always try not to bump my questions up, but I'm worried enough about this to ask again... :flower3:)

Pat didn't ask for my ADR confirmation number. Just the resort, time and name.

I plan to check back a week before cake day!

.

:cutie: Nah, BeattyFamily is the real expert! I'm just kinda OCD when it comes to cake... :rotfl:

From everything I've heard, you don't get any kind of confirmation number for your cake - which may be why you occasionally hear about mix-ups where the cake never shows up at the restaurant. It sounds like they just take down your order, and then when you get to the restaurant you remind the person at the podium and/or your server that you have a cake waiting for you.

BUT, I am not an expert on this because I haven't had one delivered to a restaurant yet - so maybe others will come along and share their experiences. :thumbsup2

Edited to add:... others like ibouncetoo! :teeth:

Okay, thank you both! I will trust that they did the right thing - my CM certainly seemed knowledgeable about what she was doing, even if she had to give the little "6 and 8 inch" spiel first.

Ah shucks... While appreciate your comment, I think you are being modest. You are definitely the most knowledgeable on this thread. But thanks again. :goodvibes

Since our upcoming trip is for a kids’ Birthday I want them both to be given cakes @ a character meal. We are only doing two character meals. Crystal Palace for dinner & ‘Ohana for breakfast . I want to do the treasure chest & jewelry box.

I understand that inside the parks the only cakes are like frozen ones that just have Happy Birthday so the jewelry box &/or treasure chest would be out of the question for Crystal Palace. So the only option is ‘Ohana. Has anyone ever done a cake at breakfast? Normal basis I never would do this but it is vacation and I figure why not. Is cake at breakfast an option?

Most importantly can I have these cakes at the Polynesian?

TIA

This is the cake I had delivered to our room at CSR.... First vacation as a family of 3.

OMG this cake looks amazing...we are berry nuts here. With that much fruit on the cake it would cancel out all the cake calories right? :rotfl2:

I want to add something special for my parents while on our trip from my children, DH and me. We have already upgraded them to CL at the Poly as well as booked an Ill Cruise. They are just the best parents and I have saved to spurge on them. These are my choices...

1 - Have a small cake and choc covered strawberries at Ohanas.

OR

2 - Have it delivered for our Illuminations Cruise that same night.

Any thoughts or ideas?? There will be 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children.

I'm looking for advice. My husband and I are taking our three daughters ages 2, 6, and 8 princess:princess:princess:to the world at the end of September. We are celebrating our tenth anniversary and I want to get a cake delivered to Chefs de France for our anniversary dinner. The girls are terribly excited to be included in the dinner, since we wouldn't usually include them in our anniversary celebration. In fact, they are a little miffed they weren't at our wedding. :rotfl: All they know that there was a big party where everyone dressed up and they weren't invited.:sad2: They love looking at the wedding photos and playing dress up with their own "wedding dresses". So I want to order something as close as possible to an actual wedding cake, to feed five of us. I love the individual wedding cakes, but I don't really want to order five of them. The 10 or 8 inch cakes that I've seen are pretty, but lack the details of the individual cakes. Does anyone know of a cake that would fit the bill? Thanks for your help.

Yes, we've had cake at breakfast (Kona), and it was great! :goodvibes

Also, I believe the treasure and jewelry cakes are available at all character meals (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so you could get them at CP if you wanted.

I'd do it on the Cruise - that just seems like it would be more special to me! :)

We are celebrating our 10th anniversary at Cali Grill in September. Besides it being our anniversary, hubby will be here on R&R form Iraq, so this trip is really a special one for us! Our three girls will be with us (5, 7 & 7) so I think a cake would be really fun for them. I keep seeing pics of gorgeous cakes from the GF bakery. Is the CR able to do cakes, too, or should I order one from the GF? And if I order it from there can I pick it up or do I have to pay for delivery? Thanks!!!

Just got off the phone. It is just DD12 and I for our trip (in 9 days!!!!) and I wanted a cake one night at 1900 PF as this is her birthday trip. Being just the two of us and staying at Pop with no fridge I didn't want anything large. So I went with the Mini Castle Cake. She offered me vanilla, chocolate or cheesecake. I chose chocolate. She also took down what I wanted written on the plate.

$30 and it will be just a perfect little something special for her!
