You can order this early?? I have a couple cakes to set up for the same day @ CM, but didn't know when the best day to call would be.

Apparently. She took my order and what I wanted written on the cake plate and told me it was all set. I will however be calling back 48 hours prior to the date to check on the order.

I have a question as well! I want to order the slipper dessert for my mom's 50th birthday at CRT and was wondering if you pay upfront or when you get there? Any idea what the total price would be? How far advance can we order this? Thanks! :goodvibes

It will be on your bill when you get there. You can order a few days in advance. Some will allow you to order a week or so out but it depends on who you speak to. My experience is they like 2-3 days out because it is less cake orders to deal with.

I really want the Mickey head cake for my DH's birthday. We have a 3.05pm ADR at 50PTC - what are the chance of them holding onto it after we leave to restaurant for us to collect when we leave the park?? - or would we be better taking to back to hotel (POFQ) after we've eaten and then coming back to DH for F! (how long would this take??)

Appreciate your comments :)

Just to clarify - you don't want the mini 2-tier cake that can fit on a salad plate, you want a full-sized cake that's a 6-inch layer on top and an 8-inch layer on the bottom? I believe the standard (pictured below) for a 2-tier is 6-inch on top and 10-inch on the bottom (where's CakeManBri when you need him?) but maybe it's only 8 inches....

The cake in the picture is the one that's included in Disney's package wedding, and they value it at around $200. (Which is not to say that's how much it actually costs! :cutie:)

Most people who do anniversary cakes at Disney get a 6-inch round (like the top layer of the one pictured), and that usually runs $55-$85 (more with fancy decorations). So a two-tier could be considerably more than $100.

The BoardWalk Bakery seems to be the most accomodating lately, so you may want to chat with them (just call BoardWalk Inn and ask to be transferred). Alternatively, you can work with the Grand Floridian or Yacht & Beach Club bakeries through Private Dining at those resorts.
This cake is a 6" and 10". It goes considerably more than $100 and is part of the escape package.

You can also call Contemporary Private Dining. The bakery there can do cakes like this also. Just as long as you are staying or eating there!

I thought the Mickey Head cake was covered with ganache but maybe it's just regular chocolate icing. :confused3

About the Mickey head cake - it's covered with dark chocolate ganache and chocolate shavings. - I forgot to take a photo before we dug in.

Here's what it looks like on the inside minus his right ear in case you're interested. We chose vanilla cake & vanilla icing - and it offset the chocolate ganache perfectly. It was delicious!!

If we wanted to get something similar to that, but without the fondant, just buttercream, would it still be around $200? I was hoping also that BC/YC bakery could do something like that. We were hoping to have it delivered to the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

So, I have a few questions. My parents are taking my DH, DS (2), and I to WDW in August (DS' first trip! :stitch:)and I would love to get them a Mickey Head cake to say thanks (and snack on all week!). Dad, DH, DS and I are all chocoholics, but my Mom not so much, so it is a fine balance between too chocolately for my mom/not chocolately enough for us!
I have read through this entire thread, and I either didn't see it or missed it:
The cake comes in chocolate or white, the outer layer is ganache, and the icing is only chocolate or vanilla? Or did I see mentioned somewhere that the filling could be another flavor? I saw the BWB menu/order form, but I don't think it had options for the Mickey Head cake.
Thanks everyone!
:goodvibes

BTW, Snowdrift 7, that looks more than delicious! I am drooling a little.

Call YC/BC in room dining to order - you might have to speak to a pastry chef to explain what you would like and make sure to explain that you will be dining at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and would like it delivered there - they will take your name, the date, number and time of your reservation and a credit card. Your card will be charged when you have dinner. It would be the most accurate price from that resort directly.

They have a great pastry team - I've had many cakes done by them.

Thank you for those! That's exactly the cake I ordered with white frosting and white cake inside. Looks delicious!

The lady gave me the number for Chef Mickey's to order that cake. Is she right?

Ha Ha. I ordered the exact same Mickey Head Cake for our June 6th character b-fast at Cape May Cafe (the last day of our vacation). Going out in style...

2 quick questions:

To order a cake for Spoodles, do I call the BW Bakery? Will they deliver to Spoodles as a surprise?

Can I order a chocolate slipper for 1900 Park Faire? Do I just call the GF?

When I ordered it at Jiko I was told my only options were all chocolate or all white/vanilla. Oh, I forgot to mention how surprised I was by how tall the cake was. I guess from the photos here, I expected it to be shorter :rotfl:

When I ordered mine I was told chocolate or vanilla only.

I'd read such horror stories here on this board of surprises being ruined because people had to remind the server, outright ask for the cake when it didn't show up or worse yet, the cake couldn't be located. I'd called the cake hotline to order a cake for Jiko and forgot to mention it when I checked in, while we were being seated by the hostess or quietly with our server at the start of the meal.

So when we were nearly done I thought of some lame excuse and went to find our server. She intercepted me, holding a tray with candles and plates and told me she'd bring out the cake a few minutes after we finished dinner and the plates were cleared. I was so relieved. The folks at Jiko were exceptional in every way and it's a wonderful place to celebrate a birthday for those who hate to be in the spotlight.

To order a cake (or, at CRT and the Grand Floridian only, a slipper dessert) to be served in a restaurant, call the Cake Hotline listed in the first post of this thread. You may need to call twice - once to be routed to 1900 Park Fare and once to be routed to Spoodles. :thumbsup2

Ok, so after seeing and reading so much about the Mickey Head cake, I'm thinking I'd like to do that for my DD. Can this cake be ordered for our room at the Poly? I'd like to surprise her with it for her b-day in our room when we get back from the parks. Thanks! :goodvibes
