That cake is covered in ganache, not frosting. There might be frosting under the ganache, which is common, but the shiney smooth park is ganache.

Okay so what is ganache?? :confused3 Is it soft? Creamy? It's not like fondant right??

I keep seeing reviews that the cake was delicious and moist. DS loves chocolate so I hope he likes this!

Ganache is made by combining chocolate and heavy cream. It is poured and smoothed over the cake, then refrigerated so it firms up a bit. Considering the sheen I've seen on the cakes, I'm assuming they may also use a bit of butter to get the shiny finish instead of a matte. It tastes very chocolaty and rich. I'm pretty sure if your son loves chocolate he'll really enjoy this. :)

This was Chocolate Cake filled with red rasberry mouuse and fresh red rasberries, icing was dark chocolate ganache and chocolate shavings. 4 white chocolate strawberries in front of the cake, a white chocolate slipper and red sugar roses sat on top of the cake. The sugar roses had a sparkle dust on them which was a great touch and just how I always order real roses for my mom.

Not only was this cake amazing looking, but it tasted great too. The pictures just do not do it justice. A big Thank you to Pat and Christina they did a wonderful job designing the cake just as I pictured it. It was really worth all the calls and time it took to make this cake look just like I described it to them.

Thank you, I wish the pics where better. But this was just my point and shoot cannon.

I think the pictures are great - I especially like the first one. If these pictures don't do the cake justice, then I'm glad I wasn't at that restaurant with you - I would have been drooling over it. :lmao:

The ladies next to us was yelling at her daughter becuase she did not get a cake like this and the lady two tables down kept swatting her son telling him to look at it. When it come out everyone just stopped talking and just watched it go by. It left my mom speechless. I was so happy she LOVED it.

Whoa Mama! :thumbsup2 That cake looks delish! I love how the put the slipper on top. I just might steal this idea for my DD's 10th b-day in October. Thanks for posting the pics. :goodvibes

Does the Ganache on the Mickey head cake taste like dark chocolate or normal milk chocolate? I'm just not a fan of dark chocolate and I think it might ruin the taste of the cake for us.
Sorry for asking so many questions, I just want the cake to be the perfect welcome gift.

The ganache did not taste like dark choc. to me. It is very rich, but I do not think it tastes like dark choc. My mom hates dark choc. and she loved this cake. I think you are thinking it tastes like a dark choc. candy bar and it is nothing like that. It is creamy and melts in your mouth. The cream helps to cut the bitter that most people do not like about dark choc. I hope that helps.

Is this individual cake really an "individual" cake - I mean, it looks kind of big...is it more than one serving?

And can you get it at the Contemporary?

It is tiny. Like really small. DH and I had one in Jan and split it. Since we had a large dinner it was good to each just have a few bites. But, if you share it with one person neither of you has a lot. No more than two people, def.

We got ours at GF, and I think that is the only place you can get it.

? for everyone...Does the cake hotline have an email address and what type of fillings-mousses have you heard of people getting?

We are spending a short weekend for our anniversay and I want to do this for my hubby...The man loves cake...

Thank you.

I have a question as well! I want to order the slipper dessert for my mom's 50th birthday at CRT and was wondering if you pay upfront or when you get there? Any idea what the total price would be? How far advance can we order this? Thanks! :goodvibes
