DH and I plan to have dinner with our boys at the Hoop Dee Doo the night of our anniversary....Can we have a cake delivered there? We are not wild about the dessert there anyway.

Never mind...I found it :goodvibes

What did you find out??

I am looking for a cake at HDDR for DH's bday in July. I know they serve strawberry shortcake dessert but I still want a cake. I read through the whole thread and I don't see anything. I see that the WL is the number to call for these. Has anyone had one? Will they do a custon cake at all? I don't hate the Mickey head cake but would like to have a chocolate Mickey topper or something. HDDR is our only TS this time because we are doing a short, "budget":rolleyes1, CS-only (except for this one surprise) dining trip for DH's birthday and staying at POFQ, so no room service this time, either.

I found their phone number on the original cake thread...407-824-2660...I am going to call them first to see what they have to say and the cake hotline second (if I run into a problem)...We actually do not like the dessert choice at the HDD anyway, so we do not mind choosing this one to one the cake expense to...We are also going in July...I am planning to call the second week in June.

When I called about cakes at Chef Mickey, HDDR was one of the options in the line of "press # for this, press # for that". I'm guessing you can do a cake there if it's an option to order cakes on the cake line! Just call the hotline and follow the prompts. :goodvibes

Okay, so I just got off the phone with Pat from the GF Bakery. I ordered a 10"
vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream filling, covered in marbled chocolate ganache. It will be topped with a white chocolate Mickey, and surrounded with 5 fresh strawberries. I have to admit, she was not very friendly or helpful. When she called me, I apologized for the fact that we had been playing "phone tag" since yesterday, and that I was excited to speak with her. The response I got was a very sarcastic "Yeah, so what can I do for you?" Although I got my cake ordered, it kind of went downhill from there. The only reason I got what I wanted was because I'd done research on the DIS. She was very unhelpful with making suggestions of any kind. I finally had to say "Okay, so I saw a photo of a cake on the DISboards, this is what it looks like, and can I get it?" Her response to that:"You know that's not an official website" DUH!!!! :confused3 told her I was aware of that fact, but is the GF Bakery able to make this cake? We finally got everything ordered to the price of $95 + tax!!
Cake-$45
White Chocolate Mickey-$30
Fresh Strawberries-$2.50 apiece
I understand this is Disney, and that I did order a "custom" cake, but I think it is a bit much. That didn't stop me from ordering it though, so I guess I'm the idiot!!! Anyhow, that's my story from today which is still lacking in Pixie Dust. I just want DD to have a special cake, and a magical trip. Pat didn't seem to care. Thank you for letting me rant!:grouphug:

$30.00 for the White Chocolate Mickey? I am being charged $35.00.

From one of many Disney info sites. I believe this one is Allears.

Guests who prefer a Disney Custom Bakery Cake can order at least 48 hours in advance of their celebration. Choices include a custom cake (6-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch and quarter sheet), an 8-inch Mickey Mouse cake or a themed cake with enhanced inscription and edible decorations (8-inch,
10-inch and quarter sheet), available at most Walt Disney World table-service restaurants.

It states 8 inch and edible decorations but I really don't think that Disney has a clue of what really goes on. Sorry, I love Disney but the year of "What Will You Celebrate," shouldn't be so difficult for the people who want to make their celebrations special. Also notice it says "most" table service restaurants," I guess that could be the loop hole:goodvibes

This is a little insane just to order cakes. I'll go with what they told me at Chef Mickey. She said the words "eight inch" and quoted $42 for it. I think we're fine. If we end up with a bigger cake, we end up with a bigger cake, I guess. :)

I would call the cake hotline and/or try to get ahold of the resort you want to have the cake at and ask them if they have an email address that you can send cake photos to.

I saw that, too--looks like the WL bakery#.
Thanks--will you post here when you find out? I will do the same, but I wasn't going to call just yet--91 days to go, still!

Blech! :headache: That really is not magical at all!! I'd be annoyed too. I'm calling about 2 cakes I need for our trip and now I'm armed and ready for Pat! I'm glad you were able to get what you wanted though and that's the most important part! Where are you having this cake? It sounds delish and I'm sure your DD will be thrilled.:thumbsup2

We are having this at 1900 Park Fare. My mother made DD the pink Cinderella dress that the stepsisters "tear apart" in the movie. I absolutely cannot wait!!!!:goodvibes

Awesome! Oooh, that sounds like it's going to be amazing! Make sure to take lots of pictures! :goodvibes That's one of our favorite things when we get home from Disney, looking at all the pictures from our trip!!

WL can only do flowers or some type of frosting balloons on their cakes. Mickey sprinkles too, I believe, but beyond that, nada in terms of decorations. That's what they told us last year, and again a couple weeks ago.

THanks! I was afraid of this. I wonder if they do the Mickey Head cake?

I too found GF Bakery CM not so friendly. I was planning a privet dinning to celibrate our first year wedding ann. I got lost in the massive lay offs. The lady I was working with was let go. I found out though someone else, only because I enquired about it. I have since given up on a privet dinning, but still wanting to re-creat the top layer of our wedding cake. So I had called and left a message.

Yesterday, a women called me, I was getting ready to walk into a doctors appoinment, but had about 5-8 min till I needed to go in, so I keep chatting with the CM. Her computer was taking forever and she was sorry for it and so on. Well we ran out of time. I didn't have a pen to take a number so I could call her back. The number on my phone doesn't get back to her, so I asked if she could call me right back, I wouldn't answer and she could leave me a voice mail with a number I could call her back at. She agreed. But never called me back. Its not 24 hours later and no call.

Gosh what is up with people. The economy sucks, why are you not trying to keep guest happy, so you can do something for them and get paid and keep your job? I guess that is a stupid idea. What was I thinking. And yes I know I am not the only one ordering a cake, just like I am sure I am not the only one they are not calling back.

Frustrating, but they will get a call from me tomorrow. Ran out of time today. :confused3

I was playing "Phone tag" with Pat for only 1 day. I also agree that there are many, many people ordering cakes and that she is very busy. I simply couldn't answer the phone when she called. I am a CT Tech at a hospital here in Norfolk. I was in the middle of 4 Trauma patients, and a stroke patient at the same time. I don't think any of my patients would've appreciated my taking a personal phone call to order a cake. She must understand that you WILL have to return people's phone calls. From what I understand, she is fairly new at her job. Maybe she needs an inservice on simple customer service!!! Once again, thank you for letting me rant!:flower3:

Are they not able to do the edible images like the cakes you can get at MK? If not, that really stinks...

If you go back a few pages and look at page 18, post #268 you'll see a cake that I had ordered for my FIL at WL. HTH

$30.00 for the White Chocolate Mickey? I am being charged $35.00.

It's unbelieveable! In 2007 I ordered a white chocolate Mickey and the Minnie for the top of our anniversary cake. They were $25 a piece at the time and I thought that was expensive. Anyway, I called back later, deciding to save $25 and do away with the Minnie. Well, when we got the cake at Whispering Canyon it had both M&M on it and it ended up being a bit of magic.
I do think the prices for their cakes are getting out of hand. I think I paid almost $80 for the cake I wanted but thinking about it...it's was a simple cake and it was half the price of my whole entire wedding cake..and we never even ate it!

Also, I added my cake before but here's another shot. It's the back of the cake lol I used it for the end of our scrapbook with the saying, 'The end' I'd have to root through CD's to find the front version but these are the white chocolate characters. This was from Whispering Canyon in May 2007.
