I talked to Jim as SSR. He was very helpful but stated that they could not deliver it to the room. Like I said it actually works out better for me this way.

Well that stinks! I wonder if it has something to do with SSR being a DVC resort instead of a regular resort. At least you have another option.

I just spent 2 days reading this thread. I today decided to call today and see what I could order.I tried Coral Reef first. I spoke w/ Nick and unfortunately they had NO diver spots open but I did order a cake for our Ann. Then I called CRT to order DD b-day cake. I guess the CM I spoke w/ was NOT having a DISNEY day. She was rude nad NOT helpful at all. I was only allowed to order an all chocolate or all white cake. Then I was only allowed to have an image put on the cake for an extra $8. She said that is all I had to choose from. After reading this post for the last 2 days I was hoping for a little bit more special cake for DD. I was tolds "ALL Choc or ALL white ONLY Mam, NOTHING ELSE"
I'm thinking maybe I should have just kept the cupcake now! Oh well I'm going to try and have a cake at HDDR as well for my cousin's son. We'll see how that goes.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get what you wanted. Maybe try calling back tomorrow and see if you get someone different? As for the all chocolate or all white, that is generally all that's available unless you order a 10" cake. However, you should still be able to have the decorations more personalized.

I just called to order a cake from CRT and had to leave my name and number. How long does it usually take before they call you back? Is it possible to call and talk directly to someone? I want to surprise DH for our anniversary and with mu luck someone will call back when he is home.

Just an FYI for those interested in getting a cake at DD:

I wanted a cake to celebrate DS going to college and the only 2 meals he will be there for are WPC and Kona Cafe. I called the cake hotline and the only restaurant at DD was Capt'n Jacks.

Oh well, cake is good for breakfast! (LOL), so I called for Kona. I talked to Joan in Private Dining and it started off very well. She first offered the 6 inch, then the 8 inch with all vanilla or all chocolate. I mentioned that he really wanted vanilla cake with chocolate icing and she said, "Oh, we can do that". Great! I asked about decorations, such as characters and she said that it costs an extra $30 for a character! :scared1:

She asked what to write on the cake and I said that it was for a son starting college and what do you suggest? She didn't really say anything, so I finally said, "I guess Congratulations or Good Luck, something like that." Then I went back to the decoration and asked if the character was a figurine for the extra $30 and she said, "No, it's the round flat thing on top that you eat!" I confirmed, "And that's an extra $30?" and she said "Yes"! (I just don't think that can be right. I know it was about $8 last year.) I felt like she was just trying to discourage me from getting it because she just kept on going and never asked it I wanted it or not. (I didn't ask for it, because it's not worth $30!)

I asked her if they could decorate it with something appropriate for a boy going to college (not flowers) and she put a note on it, but said that it depends on who makes it and it's not guaranteed. I hope it'll look nice and not too "girly".

So, does anyone have any suggestions for what to say on the cake besides "Good Luck Kevin"? He's going to film school to be a film maker, and isn't all that much into Disney (shocking, I know!) He does like Sorcerer Mickey and Fantasmic.

I don't have an answer for you but would appreciate it if you wouldn't mind letting us know how it went. I need to order a cake from CRT for DD4's 5th bday and I'm curious as to what they offer. I hope they don't call back when your DH is home - it would be a neat surprise!

We'll be celebrating DD4's 5th bday while at disney and I'm not sure where to order her cake. We're having lunch at CRT after her makeover at BBB and I thought it might be nice to have a cake in the castle. We're also staying at the Poly so we could have a cake delivered to our room w/balloons. They have her bday noted on our ADR at CRT so I could just wait and see if they give her a cupcake or do the 6" cake. I'm curious as to what others would do. I have no idea which place would make a better cake...anybody know? Thanks in advance.

Just edited to note that DD4 is pretty shy so I'm not sure how she'd handle the attention at CRT.

Today I got a call back from Chef Mickey's telling me that they don't do the White Chocolate Toppers at all and the best the chef could do was cut out the imagine and put chocolate on the back of the paper and stand it on the cake. So I cancelled the cake order.

I was going to just stay with the one I had on order at Ohana's even though we already have a cake ordered for our lunch that day to celebrate renewing our vows !

Then I rememebered the boardwalk bakery and being able to pick it up to take back to our room and called them. I got a very helpful lady who kept checking to see what they could do and asking someone else there and when they didn't know they would call the bakery to confirm.

They have the white chocolate toppers but not in a Tigger. She did have a Goofy though so I went with a 10 in Vanilla with Dark Chocolate Mousse filling with Chocolate Buttercream frosting.

It is 74.55. The topper was 30.00. So that makes the cake 40.00.

And she checked with someone and then told me that we could let Pop Century know we have a cake ordered at Boardwalk Bakery and they would pick it up for us so that we don't have to. So when we check in we will let them know and not have to deal with that. I'm quite excited about that.

I did have to prepay for the cake.

Anyone have any suggestions for a mom(51) and daughter(31) cake? We are having the cake brought to out boat for a Wishes cruise. My first thought was Elastigirl and Violet Incredible and "Our INCREDIBLE Mom and Daughter weekend at The World." I'm not sure they do Pixar or not. Any other thoughts?

Hey everybody!

I have kind of a different cake question! When we have our DD's dinner party at the Grand Floridian, we will have 14 guests, but the cake will serve 50!

I ordered some small imprinted cake boxes..like those used for weddings..to have the left over cake boxed up for the guests to take with them.

The problem is, as soon as dinner is over we are all going over to Magic Kingdom for SpectroMagic and Wishes. Our guests will need to take the bus from MK back to their Resort, so I'm assuming they'll need to take their cake with them??

I can't figure out how to best work this out. Would they even be allowed to bring the cake in with them?

We're not going all over MK just right in the entrance to Main Street.

Any suggestions?

What sort of cake did you get for CR?We go in Dec and i was wondering what sort they did.

He asked me how many people were in our party first and if we wanted to take any w/ us. There is only Me, DH, and DD (7) and seeing as we will have had 2 other cakes before this one I opted for the smaller 6" cake. It will have Mickey and Minnie on it saying Celebrating 10 Magical Years. I was only given the option of Chocolate and Vanilla due to the size I ordered. He seemed to be very helpful and helped me decide not to waste the $ on a bigger cake just for something a little different. He said they would still make it look really nice and special and I wouldn't have to worry about wasting the cake or the $. Seeing we will most likely have a fridge full of cake already.

I have ordered a Chocolate cake w/ white chocolate filling for our DD b-day cake @ CRT. It will have a stand up Cinderella and her slipper w/ sparkles all around. I called yesterday and was not given much help so I called back today to order something else. I also have ordered a Peter pan cake for my cousin's son for his B-day.

I hope this helps.

I was told yesterday that the only character they don't offer is Pooh.

Just to clarify as some people may not realize it, they don't offer any characters from Pooh & Friends...so no Eeyore, Tigger, Piglet, Pooh, etc.

I have heard no Stitch either due to copyright issues...???
I would love a Stitch cake for my DS but I had heard a no go on that character also.

I did see that mentioned in this thread, which sounds odd to me. I thought Stitch was a Disney character. I understand Pooh characters because they were created by A.A. Milne and not Disney, but I thought Stitch was created by Disney.

You ordered this at CRT? Wow - I read somewhere on this thread that they only made them at GF! That is great - I now have hope in getting my first choice of cakes for DD4's 5th bday. Thank you so much for this info. The stand up cakes are so pretty!

Edited to add: I hope you don't mind me asking but how did you describe this to the CM you talked to? Did you just say "stand up Cinderella" and they knew what you were talking about? DD4's favorite is Snow White so I'm hoping they can do Snow White. Thanks for any info.

I just got off the phone with cake ordering! I ordered the Cinderella Slipper Dessert at CRT. I left a message yesterday and they got back to me this morning. The CM that I talked to seemed very tired and wasn't very forthcoming with information but was nice enough. The call lasted 2 minutes tops. She just added the request to my confirmation number and told me they would bill me at the restaurant. I completely forgot to ask how much it was going to be. Does anyone know?

We are staying at the GF in December for my DD & DH's b-day(s). I spoke to Linda at the GF Bakery and I ordered the mad hatter cake for my DD. The chef quoted $120.00 for the cake. I will post pics upon our return. :)

By the way, I also ordered a cake for DH for O'hana's. The CM there was not as nice as Linda. I was able to place my order, but I did not receive any Disney "magic".

To be on the safe side, I suggest you call back at least 48 hours before you want the cakes to make sure they still have your order. Everything I've seen/heard (from the CM's, on these boards and at other boards), cake orders should be made between 48 hours and 2 weeks prior. Making a cake request this far out gives them more time to lose it because it's not on their immediate radar.
