What’s the view you get at Topolinos?CG and Topolino's are always jockeying for first place in our family. We are from NYC so frankly the prices don't shock us...
Here's how we have been thinking recently about the 2:
I think *on average* CG has maybe better food (meaning you're less likely to get a dud dish) - but Topolino's has particular mains and starters that shine. The sole, for example, and anything with duck confit. And for a while they were the only place other than Le Cellier to have Albertan beef, which was definitely better than US beef. I am not sure if that is still the case, but worth asking.
On bread, I think I like Topolino's better.
Desserts - I love desserts as a category, but I'm sort of underwhelmed here, but CG edges out Topolino's in taste, but Topolino's desserts are prettier.
Service - CG is more consistent, but Topolino's when it's on (which is 85% of the time) is ON. We may have also had conversations at Topolino's where they've dissed the CG prix fixe, and I think their comments are valid.
The views - depends on what you want. the MK view is so classic. But the outside deck is really just, step outside, look around, go back in. But the Topolino's deck is peaceful and beautiful and even though we've eaten there a zillion times DH and I always take a picture there and want to hang out there.
Hmmm... after writing all this - I think Topolino's wins, but CG is classic. DH likes CG more, I think.
Narcoossee is really good … only place we try to hit on most of our tripsCG used to be a favorite of ours and a must do every trip. The view of the fireworks can’t be beat! Since the new pricing we haven’t been in a while.We really like Narcoossees! ( have been many times) We had a fabulous meal there in July. You can also see the MK fireworks from there as well.
We don’t eat Italian much outside of our home area because it’s easy to get and various regions are represented but I have to say our meal at Enzo’s was truly worthyOne of the best meals that we had in August was Enzo's Hideaway. No view but quieter atmosphere and the service was top notch. I don't know if it was because our server was Italian and from the same area my husband's family immigrated from but he was just the right level of attentiveness without being intrusive and the food was some of the best Italian dishes we have had at Disney.
ETA: Our last meal at CG was unimpressive and served a little too fast between courses. So much so that the server was trying to clear plates that clearly were still in use.
I guess taste and presentation is definitely in the eye and palate of the beholder. We ate there in May and was so disappointed. The food was tasteless and looked like overcooked leftovers - no white meat, a pitiful looking drumstick and wing, spoonful of mashed yams/beans and a few other quarter cup sides on one plate. We sure didn't ask for seconds. Not worth near the price we paid. The only time I have ever left hungry from an AYCTE restaurant, also am a small person so doesn't take a lot to satisfy me.I would actually recommend Sebastian’s down at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. For only $39 per adult and $21 per kid, you get some flavorful dishes like tamarind barbecue chicken, mojo pork, and a huge variety of sides. Plus, you can ask for seconds and thirds as it’s AYCTE! Much better value than the $89 per adult and the adult Sebastian’s price per child, in which you only get to enjoy 3 dishes (1 choice) that are honestly forgettable.
We are going the same time too, except my traveling companion is turning 10 and she asked for Chefs de France and Shiki Sai (late) for the Epcot and fireworks view.Planning to be there Thanksgiving week to celebrate my traveling companion’s birthday;
it's the same as the preferred view rooms, but from the top floor. The pools, the "moderate" CBR, the skyliner. we are usually there as the sun is setting, and it's very glow-y and peaceful. If you go later (and when we are staying at Riviera, we sometimes go) you can see some fireworks over the roof of the Riviera, though it's not a full direct view. But still cool.What’s the view you get at Topolinos?
LOL to "too close" fireworks. We've been there too.Surprisingly to us, we enjoyed the food more and felt the atmosphere was better. The view of the fireworks was not as good (too close).
This happened to us as well our last visit to CG. Being rushed will turn an entire meal for me, especially at an establishment that is presented as a fine dining option. There is just no excuse for the wait staff not to be better coordinated with the kitchen. The timing and food both made us feel like they were just turning out plates and turning tables.ETA: Our last meal at CG was unimpressive and served a little too fast between courses. So much so that the server was trying to clear plates that clearly were still in use.
