Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

I asked for a custom cake. I said that I wanted to get yellow cake with white chocolate mousse filling and if possible to be covered in pink fondant with a Cinderella's slipper on the top. I was speaking with Jen (Linda was out the week that I called). She spoke with the chef and told me I had a choice of 8" or 10". I chose the 8" since there were only 4 of us. She asked what I would like the inscription should be and I mentioned that if possible I would like it to have some flowers on top also. The cake was $32 with a $30 decorating fee (including the fondant and all decorations) then adding on tax & gratuity.

Thank you so much. Did you call the GF line or the other bakery number? Sorry for all the questions.

Here we go. Lets see if we can start this thread. No questions, just basic information. Picture of the cake . Where it was from, maybe who you talked to. Cost. Date you had it. Thanks.

OK this was way back in Oct of '08 we went to the Boardwalk Bakery to get breakfast and they had cakes! So I took pics (and promptly had computer problems but it is what it is!)

and since it was last Oct '08 no telling how to compare - but maybe it can be of help to someone

I imagine it changes daily, and availability may be on a first come first served???

Maybe its because my dd is now 12 - but I had a horrible experience at 1900 Park Fare - and will never do the cake again (now I still will do the slippers, and will maybe go to BWBakery for an impromptu - but what a WASTE of money at 1900 - I had it written in our ressie - I mentioned it 3TIMES to the waitress - and she waited till we could wait no longer, and brought out the cake - I was so mad I was speechless! we waited 30 min for them to bring the darn cake - 3TIMES I asked, we should've left )

but time heals all wounds - we were seated so far back (near the entrance actually to 1900 but right at the door for the waitstaff to go in and out)

Priced it from page one here - no surprises... the flowers on the Tink image were not edible - dd still has them!

I'm really worried by the information in post 1 which says 6 inch cakes can't be customised. I just called to order a customised cake for my DH in May . .. and the lady I spoke to said I could have a 6 inch one customised so I ordered it (I was expecting to have to order an 8 inch cake). I hope when I get there it is as I requested!

Don't worry - several people on this thread (including me) have been able to get customized 6-inch cakes, even though the policy is not to do it. It seems like it really depends on who you talk to. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reassurance!:thumbsup2

Your wedding photos are lovely :goodvibes

If someone will remind me AGAIN how to post flikr pictures on here, I'll put three up of DH surprise cake from Citricos!

Has anyone had any luck getting a cake that was safe for a peanut and tree nut allergy???

OK, I can't figure out how to do this from flickr, so here are the three pictures of DH cake from Satruday:

After all the drama with Linda, the cake was perfect. It was yellow cake with custard and fresh strawberry filling, buttercream and fondant. It was $95 with the sugar flowers and chocolate stars and the chocolate Donald Duck. I was very pleased! There was so stinking much because I had to order a 10", so we shared with the table next to us, then brought it home and the four of us have each eaten a slice three times. I think we'll finish it tonight!

Anyone ever order a cake from WL? We are staying there in August and it will be my DD's 3rd birthday while we are there so a cake is a must. We are on DXDDP so I could order it from like CRT but I thought it would be nicer not to have to carry it back from the park if there is any left over. TY! :)

Yes. The WL is much more limited as to what they will do on a cake - pretty much writing and flowers. It tasted wonderful and a 10" served four adults and two kids with plenty to munch on the rest of the week. Somewhere buried in this thread is a full description.

ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Why, why, why, after reading numerous complaints about Linda, is she still taking cake orders?! What are exactly the "magic words" you need to use to order a custom cake from GF? I spoke with her and told her I knew exactly what I want...an "anniversary cake" with white fondant and the gold mickey head stamps on it, for my small wedding celebration, and she told me that that can only be ordered if you had a Fairytale wedding at Disney. I know from reading this thread that is not true. She told me I have to order from the podium (i.e. frozen cake). :sad2: I'm about ready to pull my hair out. I mentioned all the beautiful cakes I've seen on this thread from the GF, and asked how to get one made....I don't know what to do! There must be some magic "code" word to get her to take a special order, because SHE. WILL. NOT. OFFER. ANYTHING!!!

Butter wouldn't melt in my mouth as nice as I was to her....I didn't want to get on her bad side...but I know my frustration was showing by the time I hung up. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to get her to assist me?

I hear ya I just got back and hte cake I had ordered was WRONG in every way. THis isnt the first time either. I complained and will not be ordering cakes there anymore.

If everyone is having such issues with Linda at GF, why aren't they reporting her to Disney? I'm sure if someone called another location and asked to speak with whomever was in charge of the entire department they could then share the info.

Since I ordered through the Poly, I don't have anything to base comments on (can't report someone I didn't work with). Judy was wonderful to work with, as was Chef Brett who called me to discuss what I wanted more specifically. I can hardly wait to see our cake in a little over 2 weeks!!!
