Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

Online it says at the time of making your ADR. Which I'll be making all of mine next month for June too. I'd like to order the goodie bags for my boys at Boma (to keep them occupied :rotfl:).

So do you mention the celebration cakes/goodie bags at the time of making your ADR or add it two weeks before the date you need it? :confused3

I called two weeks ago to have the Pirate Celebration cake added to our upcoming March trip. I believe the specialty cakes, like the customized ones, aren't supposed to be ordered too far in advance but the Celebration ones are akin to noting on an ADR that it is someone's birthday.

Thanks, that's exactly what I thought. :thumbsup2

My 90 day window for dining was today. I added the Princess surprise cake and deluxe goody bag to my ADR at Akershus. The CM put it on my ressie and told me to remind them at the podium.
I want to order the castle cake at GF so I will wait until 1 1/2 weeks out.

I Am planning on having the Mickey head cake for my birthday and have a few questions I hope someone can answer :)

What size is the cake, can you pick the filling, is the mickey design hard icing? TIA:thumbsup2

Hi everyone,

My DD is turning 1 on our first day at WDW. We're having dinner at 1900 Park Fare that evening. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on a birthday cake for her... like what should I have for the inside/outside? I want to keep with a theme but have something really nice made up for her. Oh ya, it can't be a big cake either. Only 4-5 of us eating it! :rotfl:

My first dd had pooh. I'm not sure if Pooh is at 1900 Park Fare for dinner?

Thanks to everyone!

-Tammy

Also if you purchase a cake at the number WDW gives, do they deliver it right there at the restaurant for you? I've never done this before and I have 2 birthdays to celebrate the week we go!

Thanks to all...

The cake is about 8 inches. It is hard to judge size because of the ears but it is a good sized cake. No, you get your choice of chocolate or vanilla cake and the filling to match. The icing on the outside is more like a chocolate. It is really good, tastes different than fondant. But there is icing underneath the chocolate.

Sorry if this has been discussed and posted before, but I just can't wade through this long thread right now...

My DH's b-day is coming up while we are staying at BWV. I've read that the Boardwalk Bakery can do custom cakes as well. There's just the three of us so it doesn't need to be big and I don't mind picking it up myself and bringing it back to the room. I think I read in someone elses post that the bakery needs 48 hours to do a custom cake. We are arriving on Sun. and his birthday is on Tues. I'm not sure that will be enough time. Can I call the Boardwalk Bakery and request a cake before we arrive to pick up on his birthday? Who do I need to call and what options does the bakery have? If, for some reason, I don't get around to calling ahead and ordering a custom cake can I walk up to the bakery and buy one? Will they put his name on it?

Thanks for all the information you can give me regarding the Boardwalk Bakery. :)

I have been thinking about a cake for my mom for Mother's Day and this is just what I had been thinking of. Can you please tell me what you asked for when you ordered this.

Thanks

I asked for a custom cake. I said that I wanted to get yellow cake with white chocolate mousse filling and if possible to be covered in pink fondant with a Cinderella's slipper on the top. I was speaking with Jen (Linda was out the week that I called). She spoke with the chef and told me I had a choice of 8" or 10". I chose the 8" since there were only 4 of us. She asked what I would like the inscription should be and I mentioned that if possible I would like it to have some flowers on top also. The cake was $32 with a $30 decorating fee (including the fondant and all decorations) then adding on tax & gratuity.

What a beautiful cake! Does anyone know if you can call the BWB & order a cake or do you have to go there in person? I would like to get a surprise cake for our anniversary trip, but we arrive on Sat. afternoon & our anniversary is on Mon. I don't think that would be enough time if they need 48 hrs. We're staying at BWV so pick-up wouldn't be a problem I would just need to figure out a way to ditch DH for a bit so I could run over & pick it up.

TIA.

Hi! I ordered a cake directly working with the baker at Boardwalk for our trip this past Sept. It was beautiful, exactly what I wanted (I sent pictures)...I have her name, email, and phone # if you would like me to PM it to you just PM me and I will be happy to do so. However, something I was unaware of is they often spray these cakes with a simple syrup to keep them from drying out and this DOES require refrigeration, otherwise it ferments! My beautiful cake lasted all of 2 days before it started smelling a little...well, "funky". After speaking with the bakery manger (the baker was out) it was determined the "funk" to be fermentation...sure glad we have fine-tuned noses and did not eat it :) The moral of the story...make sure you have a fridge available and use it for your cakes.

We chose chocolate for our DS's cake, because all vanilla sounds kind of boring for a teenager. (Those were our only options.) Are the chocolate cakes very rich? We like chocolate, but not enough to want to OD on it. :p

Thanks. PM sent! Do you by any chance have a pic of the cake you ordered?

Can someone PM me the email address for the BW bakery chef? I need to have a special cake done and what I want needs to be discussed with the chef to see if they can do it. We are leaving in 3 weeks and I was thinking about going and placing the order while we were there but I don't want to drag the picture of the cake I want around.

I would love to see some pictures of cakes that were had at Ohanna's. Need ideas for Anniversary cake. Thanks. Also price

Yeah you can. I called last week and ordered our anniversary cake( we were married last May at the Boardwalk) and I had no problems ordering it.

call the boardwalk and have them direct you to the bakery.

You should call them directly and not email. The number is on the first page. Then they can tell you where to send the picture so there is no confusion.

I am trying to find out if the WDW Hilton does anything special for birthdays. Do they have a resturant that provides cakes?

Thanks!
