What does the coral reef offer?

Here's a cake we ordered at the podium at Coral Reef. It tasted like a stale Twinkie covered in whipped cream! :thumbsup2 People who've special-ordered cakes at Coral Reef got very nice-looking ones... it's only the "podium cakes" that are crummy....

Also, go Dodgers! :rotfl:

Jenna319,
Great cake! Love the baseball theme. I'm guessing whoever decorated it isn't a sports fan though. ;) Flowers???

And...... GO RAYS!!! :woohoo:

(Sorry, couldn't resist.) :rolleyes1

I posted a few pages back pictures of our custom cake from the CR. It was amazing and my favorite dessert of the trip! I would eat in EPCOT again just to have another cake like that!!

Daddy has decided to go golfing one day during our trip. So, dd and I have made an ADR for 1900 Park Fare for a "late" breakfast, 10:05am. I was going to order the mini castle cake for her since we are celebrating her birthday that week, then I read that it is now $30.00! I don't want a full size cake since it is just the 2 of us so I was wondering about the chocolate slipper. Do I order those on the cake hotline? Anybody have any other ideas for something special for our "just girls" breakfast?

make them note it in your ressie (call and make sure) when you show up they have had placemats that are signed by the characters - its a beautiful memory!

I ordered the slipper for our 1900 dinner ressie next week - and she quoted me $20!! I will ask why the price difference from CRT to GF esp since CRT has it on a "pillow" of cake AND they add berries!! (or they used to!)

We ordered the cake 8" to customize it, and then we plan on going right back to our resort and putting it in the fridge!!

and I called the GF Bakery number to order both a cake and a slipper...(page one of this thread)

Does WCC do the fancy cakes? SOmething more then just roses? We will be having Christmas diner there and I thought I would see about getting a nice Christmas themed cake there. I tried searching to see if there was cake pics from there and nothing came up. If anyone has any would you mind posting it.

We had a cake in Oct. '07 done at WCC for my father-in-law. I had mentioned that my in-laws were big campers hoping that we'd get some sort of outdoor-type themed cake. We got a pretty cake with roses instead but it was so tasty we didn't care what it looked like.

Here's a weird question... I've ordered an anniversary cake as a surprise for my DH when we eat at 1900 Park Fare next month. When do they know to bring the cake out? Do they just see that we are wrapping up with our meal? I don't want them to say anything obviously, like "do you want your cake now?" :rotfl:

I ordered a candy bar cake a couple of years ago. This was a perfect solution to 'where to put the leftovers'. It was for my husband's 44th b-day! It would be great for kids and a crowd too! Sorry I can't post the pic. I can't remember exactly how much is was, but I think it was in the $35-$45 range.

I called and ordered my daughter's (8 inch) birthday cake for 10/24 at Park Fare-the woman who took my order asked me what flavor(white) and then I asked for chocolate filling and she said it's either white/white or chocolate/chocolate but then said it was white chocolate mousse, which is fine.
Anyway, she asked for the inscription and our name and time we were eating, then my credit card and then was like okay thanks bye..

I realized that I don't even know what the cake will look like!
I don't care if they go all out, but I want it to look girly and pretty-we will be there for er actual birthday so this is her only cake and I want to make sure it;s as nice as one we would get at home. I'm afraid it will be plain white with brown writing or something..
Has anyone not asked for anything specific at the GF and can you tell me what the cake looked like?
Or should I call back-which I hate to do since I hate the phone. ;)

You should cancel you order - call back and ask for Linda. She handles the "special order" cakes, which are now different from the other cakes. You can get pretty much any cake/filling combination that you would like.

We do this every year for our anniversary - Almond Cake with Amaretto Mousse Filling. . . it's an exact replica of the cake we had on our wedding day at the Grand!

Does anyone have any other pics from Chef Mickeys? I am trying to decide what cake to get for our cruise send off! We leave the next morning!

Hi all,
I've been reading the thread, and I have a question. I want to order a cake for my brother and niece for there birthday in December. We are a group of 10, but 2 are 6 and one is 5. Would an 8 inch cake be enough? We are also on the DxDDP so dessert comes with the meal and we leave the next day. I think it would be OK, but I just want to make sure before I order it. Thanks in advance!!

Okay, I will call back-thanks!

hi- I had a question. I think that we might forgo spending over $50 for a mickey cake for ds's bday since its just the 3 of us. we will be home on sunday and will have the family over and he will have a cake than ( so I dont feel so bad) anyhow- how do I ask for a cupcake instead? it will be on thanksgiving and Im sure they will other desserts for the holiday dinner but I want to have some special for just him.. TIA

I don't know that you can "order" a cupcake. I had DS4 and DH's birthday on EVERY ressie we had and neither got ANYTHING expect the cakes that I ordered! If you want something special-order it yourself! Do not count on them doing it for you. I was really hoping for this and we got nothing. Very hard to explain to a 4 yo when they're giving out cupcakes and stuff to other kids and singing happy birthday to them and he leaves in tears with nothing. :sad2:

I would call back and just confirm your order and ask if they have any ideas or if you should search for some pictures or anthing like that. Hopefully that will open some discussion as to what they were thinking of doing for the cake.

I think the price of the slipper has increased as well to about $20. Personally, between the cake and the slipper, I'd do the cake or order a custom cake for the money since the 8" ones start at $32.

When you check in be sure you mention it's a surprise. Even then, it may not remain one. At GFC, the waitress started asking people which dessert they would like then stopped mid-sentance and said "You have a cake though right???" :headache: I confirmed we did and excused myself to go to the restroom and pulled her aside to let her know it was a SURPRISE! Everyone was still surprised (or at least pretended to be!) but make it very clear at check in if possible.

I'd go with the 8". You can cut it yourself and give the little ones smaller pieces than the adults or give everyone a small piece and still order your desserts with the DDP.

We just returned home last night from the Beach Club and here are pictures of the Halloween cake that I had delivered to our room...it was awesome!!!!!!

Wow. It´s amazing. May I ask how big it was and how much it cost?

I'm sorry to hear, that is so sad they didn't recognize their BD's and your little son was so upset he cried :sad1:. I have noted several BD's on our grand gathering CRT luncheon, also as suggested on this brd., I have also called to remind them and a nice lady explained exactally what was included and would happen. So I'll remind them again when we arrive, as I don't want to take any chances and be disappointed. Glad your DH and DS had your special cakes to celebrate BD's.

Last week I pre-ordered slippers for our grands upcoming luncheon at CRT and luckily they were still $12.50. However, some say they have paid $20, possibly at other restaurants.

:thumbsup2 That is an incredible looking cake and hope it tasted at least half as good as it looked!! That, IMHO, is how all of the specialty cakes that you pay extra for should look - amazing.
